I stayed in Oak Barn from the 15th - 29th July due to the sale of my property completing early and needing somewhere to stay for me and my dog.

On arrival I was really impressed with the location and how immaculate the farm is. I was greeted by Elaine at the farm house who then showed me round the barn, which I must was spotless. The welcome pack in the property was very useful to help me find the local pubs/shops and dog walks, however Elaine was kind enough to let me use the fields, as my Beagle loves his walks. The barn is set over-looking the fields and is peaceful in the day, apart from the usual noises you would expect from a working farm, however these were by no means intrusive. Its amazing watching Elaine's husband working the animals and maintaining the properties. At night the lack of light pollution means on a clear night the stars are amazing and great to sit and look at with a cold beer, its such a lovely place to stay. I must add that on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK there was an issue with a burst water main in the village, obviously this was a one off and not Elaine's problem, however within an hour of me noticing the issue Elaine returned with huge 5ltr bottles of water to make sure me and the dog were ok. This I thought was really considerate considering the family had enough issues trying to keep the animals hydrated. I must say Elaine and her family made me feel very welcome during my 2wk stay, always polite, asking how we were, and with smiles on their faces. The farm is great, the room was perfect for my needs and the local pubs and woodland we wonderful places to visit. I would like to thank Elaine, and her family for their hospitality

The cottage was very cold at times even with heating on There were only a few logs for fire and no information on where more was stored…empty firefighter packet.

.so didn’t bother lighting fire…bought extra warm blankets from Corby supermarket..also lighter is not in kitchen..it is in basket with logs Fair amount of empty or almost empty containers under sink plus basket with various items was quite dirty..only hand brush..no dustpan to sweep debris into Large dirty stain on carpet..I rang Sykes immediately to report this I did not know it was shared access so my dog often barking as neighbours often passing by and she is a very protective dog. I would not have booked had I known..I prefer privacy. Would prefer dishwasher tablets as opposed to biscuits..I used dishwasher often so had to travel to supermarket to top up. Also I left Christmas earrings on side table in twin room and they disappeared…I could not find them even though I stripped and lifted beds…This made me feel very uneasy and I felt someone had been into the cottage while I was out.. Needless to say I left on the morning of 31st December…

A fabulous retreat in a beautiful setting ideal to relax and switch off for a few days.

Very dog friendly with an enclosed garden that was very safe and a place to wake up and watch the wildlife, we did see Deer and foxes each day. The cottage is beautiful very comfortable with high quality furnishings that were very new. The open fire was lovely especially during November but the cottage also had a great heating system too. A real home from home is very true. Many lovely walks on your doorstep or a very short drive away such as Daventry country park and Badby woods and the Holly bush inn pub very close walking distance. We also found a local farm shop in Eydon called Dodds manor farm where we bought local steaks and cooked them back at the cottage, delicious! Lucy the owner checked all was good as we arrived and was there if we needed anything but we didn’t had she had also kindly left milk and biscuits for the tea and coffee provided. Amazing cottage and we will definitely be back

This cottage is beautiful and in a stunning and quiet location.

It is well looked after, and felt like home the minute we walked in. It comfortably slept a couple and a dog, and would definitely suit a small family with two children, or a small group of friends. The furnishings are very tasteful and cosy. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are a good size for a small cottage. We found the garden to be safe and secure for our dog, as long as the two gates are closed, which we just quickly checked before letting him out. There are plenty of lovely walks nearby as well as the dog friendly Cherrington Pub, a 20 minute enjoyable walk away. The cottage owners had left helpful instructions to find it! We have not stayed anywhere as well equipped or as homely as this cottage. It is situated in a picturesque and quiet village with good links by car to many lovely towns and ‘sights to see’. We left feeling well rested and happy. Highly recommend!

Tiles to kitchen floor cracked, loose and extremely slippery to dogs, not suitable.

Conservatory tiles much better. Bedrooms small for doubles. Shower head not secure Front door lock difficult to lock and unlock. Conservatory door difficult to open. Cobwebs to conservatory ceiling Door nobs to wardrobes loose. Trickle vent to main bedroom window was broken when we arrived. Lots of leaves to garden that kept getting brought in to house. Some lights to garden did not work. Main bin outside full to top. 4pm late arrival not suitable, 2pm at latest would have been much more acceptable. Bed very comfortable. Tea, coffee and milk a nice touch as property is remote. Property overall is nice and peaceful but slippery flooring to kitchen prompted us to cut short our stay as one of the dogs could not cope.
