What our customers say about their holidays

    • Susan - Verified booking

A lovely quaint old cottage in beautiful Borth y Gest.

Small but clean and welcoming. Steep staircase with quirky sloping floors upstairs. Modern well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils, huge larder style fridge containing a lovely bottle of wine, with small freezer compartment, dishwasher and washer dryer. Double bedroom, with extremely comfortable bed, overlooking a lovely feature rear slate patio area with table, chairs and loungers, a further garden area with woods beyond. Twin bedroom overlooking the front. Parking is opposite the cottage. Borth y Gest is a lovely unspoilt village and Llanor is within easy walking distance to some beautiful beaches, Samsons Bay being our favourite. Close to the Welsh Coastal Path there are many lovely walks in the area. An ideal place spot, close to the shops and amenities in Porthmadog (just a walk around the bay and boatyard) and within driving distance of other picturesque places on the Llyn Peninsula and further south towards Harlech. Excellent easy communication with the owner.

Beudy Mawr cottage was just what we wanted.

We were greeted by Jane and a fabulous selection of cakes on arrival. The cottage was nicely equipped like a home would be. It felt homely with the decoration and the garden at the back by the main bedroom was perfect and secure for the dogs. If you’re lucky and have good weather you can sit at the garden table enjoying a gin and gazing at the Incredible views of Snowdonia. I also loved sheep, chickens and ducks as our neighbours. The location is rural but if you feel inclined, close to plenty of activities. The only slight negatives for me as someone who has back / neck issues is the angel of bed for tv and the mattress being to hard for me a side sleeper (thankfully it was super king so tossing and turning wasn’t to much of an issue), I appreciate everyone has their own personal preferences so the right mattress for me would not be right for someone else. We enjoyed fresh / scented bed linen. I would absolutely recommend Beudy Mawr Cottage!

The cottage is perfectly located for accessing all the best attractions in Snowdonia and although near the road it's very quiet.

There are lovely views towards the mountains from the bedroom which leads out on to a patio and occasionally the chickens pay a visit. The shower in the lovely ensuite is extremely spacious. Apart from a little difficulty at the front door as there is no ramp, it was perfect for us as my husband has limited mobility and having the very spacious main bedroom made manoeuvring the wheel chair fairly easy. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you need and although pets are welcome there were no pet odours as we've found in other pet friendly cottages. Everything worked as it should so no complaints about any of the equipment or heating and the bath upstairs was just wonderful. The lovely owner, Jane, very generously provided welcoming tea and cakes on arrival. As it was lambing time we didn't see her again till we left but we had a great week exploring despite the weather. We'd definitely return to this lovely cottage.

      We had a fantastic week!

We arrived to a table set for tea with an array of home-baked goodies, which was such a lovely touch and really set the scene for the rest of our holiday. The barn is beautifully converted and well stocked, and we really appreciated the enormous bed and comfortable sofas. The upstairs was perfect for our two children, who loved the treat of having their own bathroom (with massive bath) and TV! The views from the back garden are spectacular; the children loved saying hello to the sheep in the morning, and we really appreciated being able to let our dog out knowing the garden was completely secure. The accommodation is an easy drive from attractions including Anglesey, Zip World, Snowdon and Conwy, as well as a big Tesco and great fish and chip shop. We will be recommending Beudy Mawr to family and friends, and wouldn't hesitate to book again in the future. Thank you Jane!

Beudy Mawr is a lovely and tastefully converted cow shed with many original features.

The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could want. The 3 piece suite has been upgraded and was really comfortable, added bonus of reclining seats. Super-king size bed which was very comfy. The view from the patio via the bedroom towards Snowdonia / Snowdon is stunning and a lovely sight to wake up to. The cottage is ideally situated for seeing all of North Wales, triangulated between Caernarfon, Llanberis and Bangor/Anglesey. Jane was very welcoming and the cakes/sausage rolls on arrival were delicious. Our dog also enjoyed her stay, having both the front courtyard and rear patio to wander around, as well as being able to walk her around some of the farm fields. Would recommend this cottage and others on site if you want to explore North Wales and would definitely return here if visiting area again. Diolch yn fawr Jane.
