What our customers say about their holidays

    • Garry - Verified booking

      A few niggles but comfortable.

Once we worked out how to put the radiators on, it was a warm, spacious and comfortable place, well equipped in the kitchen (although a wooden spoon and full-size cafetiere would have been useful). The niggles didn't affect us overly after the first night: - Internet access was slow (about 1Mbit/sec) and unreliable - we're used to it but many people won't be. - The louvres on the outside of the two bathroom extractor fans clattered in the wind so we had to tape them up overnight so my wife could actually get to sleep in the main bedroom. - The twins beds weren't particularly comfortable but apparently the double was better. - The heating wasn't on when we arrived and we couldn't figure it out until we eventually found the manual the next morning after a rather cold night. (We arrived late and wanted to go straight to bed.) - There were no general instructions for what to do with rubbish & recycling, when to put it out, etc (We did find a bin outside at the end of our stay, though.) A summary for using the heating would also have been useful. - It would have been helpful if the listing had said that the place was in Ceidio rather than Morfa Nefyn. (Yes, I know that you can look at the map but still ...)

The location was amazing being a few minutes walk from the coast path.

The house is completely detached and plenty of private parking. Very comfortable sofas and beds, especially after a long day of walking and exploring thus fabulous area. The upstairs room and balcony is a real bonus, we enjoyed sitting out and having a cuppa while overlooking the huge garden and towards the sea view. There is a very handy utility room at the entrance into the house especially if have wet, muddy dogs! The electric heating was very efficient as the evenings were quite chilly. We agreed with other comments regarding needing some updating to the kitchen and bathroom. There was a few issues with cleanliness that needs addressing. The shower room is very modern yet has black mould both inside and outside the frame of the shower unit. The kitchen utensils and holders were very greasy, we gave everything a good wash in hot soapy water. The kitchen and bathrooms really could do with a deep lean. Having said that our week's holiday was the 28th September so getting towards the end of the season. A couple of things missing from the property is a mop and bucket also a clothes airer for those wet clothes when caught in rain. With a few improvements this place would be 5 stars all the way.

We found the property very clean however, in the cupboards there was a musty smell which lingered on the cups and so had to wash these before using.

The lounge downstairs and beds were extremely comfortable. Unfortunately we could not use the upstairs lounge as too dangerous for the dog to go up the open staircase. I have to say that if we had known before we booked Ty Bryn that the dog was NOT allowed in HIS BED in the BEDROOM - we would not have booked. This was NOT mentioned in the write up and only became clear when reading the Visitors book at the property. It was not ideal as our dog has anxiety issues. I can understand that some people may not adhere to them in their own beds but if you are accepting up to 2 dogs in the property then there should NOT be exclusions as to where they can go. We also had the gardener turn up on the Friday morning at 8am, we were still in bed and were alerted to a huge noise that sounded like an aeroplane overhead but in fact it was a man in orange clothing with a leaf blower walking past the bedroom window !! We did get an apology from the owners but felt that this should not of happened and to make sure it is done on changeover day.

Ty Bryn is quietly located and the main reception rooms upstairs and down are comfortable.

The kitchen is well equipped and the bed (superking) we used was very comfortable. It was a great base to explore the Llyn Peninsula. The Cliffs pub was excellent. Where the house could be improved is in the bathroom, shower room and kitchen. The shower was never hot just, eventually reasonably warm. There are no towel rails so we used the radiators in rooms we weren't using. The bathroom just needs updating. I ripped out a bathroom 20 years ago with similar tiles. The kitchen is sticky and slightly grubby. It needs a refresh. This is the second cottage we stayed at in two weeks in Wales and yet again the superking bed had only a king size duvet. So we supplemented with a single. Others have commented on the towels, they are beautifully soft but if 6 of us had stayed there they were a bit mean in quantity. As there were only two of us we had plenty. A few more clothes pegs would be useful too. Having said all this we liked the cottage and lived the upstairs room and roof terrace.

We loved the location of the cottage the grounds it stands in are amazing.

The only thing to consider is the impact it has in the arrival of guests. It could be a little more inviting. On entering the cottage the coldness and the smell of damp are the first things that greet you. The cottage is old I get this but maybe the owner should take this into consideration and put the heating on timer to kick in just before guests arrive. We did not have that warm cosy cottage feel on the first night took a long time to work out the heating system . Even the bedding felt damp it was that cold. The log burner in the lounge burned the wood like paper so quick. However the heat it gave out was minimal . Upstairs room was fantastic and super cosy the log burner worked so well there. Overall we loved the cottage once we warmed up. And the hot water bottles were a great help for my feet at bedtime.
