What a fabulous week in beautiful Low House!
The cottage is in a stunning location with amazing views of, and access to, lake Ullswater . Our multi generational family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return one day. We stayed in winter so enjoyed blustery walks or cosy lazy days, family meals around the big dinning table and evenings relaxing by the log burning fire, playing games with the kids. Perfect! This is a wonderfully positioned, very well equipped, very clean and comfortable cottage. It is a large property, all on one level with a lovely big kitchen, spacious living area, both with amazing views of the lake. The 4 bedrooms (1 kings size master and 3 twin rooms) are very comfortable and are all en-suite. There is EVERYTHING you will ever need in the property. The kitchen is so well equipped and has the bonus of having an aga to keep it cosy and warm. You also have the use of: a utility room with washer dryer iron etc, a handy airing cupboard to dry/warm coats/ dry washing, a playroom with games/ football table, reliable WiFi, and a large shed /log store with ample storage for bikes, with darts board & table tennis too! Everything is quality here; appliances, kitchenware and beds /bedding etc. *FRIENDLY LOCAL ROBIN WARNING: Donât leave the patio door open more than a few inches on winter mornings unless you want a tame local robin to come inside to say hello and look for crumbs on the kitchen floor! Donât worry if he does get in, he seems to comfortably know his way out! As bird lovers the robinâs daily visits topped off a lovely week, in a spacious & fabulously equipped property, in a stunning location⦠beautifully! Thank you Low House owners and workers. *Accessibility: I would recommend this property for people with mild to moderate mobility issues as internally it is all on one level. The doorways are wide and the living areas are spacious. There are showers in the 2 of the 3 twin rooms but not wet room type. The master bedroom and bathroom are very spacious but has a bath only. The property is probably not ideal for people who only use a wheelchair as no wet rooms or fully accessible showers. The entrance into the property is gravelled (but it is level) and there are a couple of steps into the property but they are wide & shallow. This is a wonderful house all on one level which would be great for anyone who struggles with stairs, uses a walker or wheelchair chair occasionally.

This is our second visit to this lovely property!
It has a beautifully quiet location, with stunning views over the lake & the mountains! We find the property is very well suited for our multi-generational family. Being a bungalow, it is ideal for people with less mobility. Thereâs 4 bedrooms in all (3 lovely twin rooms and a very large master bedroom), all ensuite, 2 with baths and 2 with showers (one of the shower rooms has a small lip to step over, almost walk in type). Thereâs a massive lounge room with a log fire & a formal dinning area. The kitchen is spacious with a large dining table (+ high chair) and is VERY well equipped .., itâs has every cooking implement you can think of! The kitchen also has patio doors not only give you amazing views of the lake and mountains but also conveniently lead out to an outdoor eating area. The property is very clean throughout and has everything you may need; the furniture, appliances and fixtures are all excellent quality. It has plenty space for kids to play indoors, in the playroom or outdoors in the large garden. At the rear of the property thereâs a large shed with full sized table tennis, darts board with space to store bikes and other sports equipment. Thereâs even an outside hose to make clean off easy and drying /boiler room to dry any damp coats /boots in main building. The setting couldn't be more beautiful and quiet. Itâs only a short walk (5-10mins) to get direct access to the beautiful lake (vehicle access too) and thereâs plenty parking space on the grounds for any vehicles. All in all, a fabulous, clean, well appointed, rurally located, lovely spacious property. Would love to spend a week there in the summertime but our winter stay was just lovely too. Hope to return again.

We were disappointed to find that one bedroom in the property was spider infested with a slat on the bed broken.
The floor was filthy under the beds and also under the bed in the ground floor adjoining room. Cobwebs were around the rooms and adjoining on-suit. Regarding comfort, it was hugely disappointing that the heating was set to come on at 7 am. This was the time we got up each day to engage in walking and other outdoor activities around the lakes. We therefore had to endure getting washed , dressed and fed in a very cold house every morning as the temperatures were cool. Realistically, the heating should come on earlier at this time of year (6am) I would suggest. I appreciate peoples preference for this may differ, but by day 4 of our stay I found it to be rather tiresome. Added to this fact we came home on our second day to NO HOT WATER. As we had had a full days walking we were extremely disappointed to say the least. We contacted Sykes but were unable to contact the owner not least because there is extremely poor phone signal. Owner called following day and organised plumber to get hot water back on. So this was not fixed till that evening for us to use, which meant no hot water and no heating that morning. Given the displeasure this caused throughout the week, I think it would be appropriate to receive some compensation commensurate to our discomfort. I look forward to your view on this â So no hot water the following day

Good points: Well equipped, spacious, great location, onsite parking.
Not so good points: Toilets and bathrooms were generally not clean on arrival. The baths had not been wiped around and the loos had not been properly cleaned (under the seats, rims etc) we contacted Tracy and she came in the next morning and cleaned them, she apologised profusely. However the baths were still not done after this was rectified. One ensuite the shower couldn't be used due to the fan being broken so dirty water streaks were all down the walls. We didn't expect to have to strip beds before we left, prior warning at the time of booking would have been appreciated for this, as leaving early morning for a long drive home was marred by stripping all the beds which to be frank should be included in the housekeeping when you pay a premium for a nice property and get away from household chores in holiday. The pub deliveries were very noisy in the early hours most days including the bottle emptying at 5.30am which wasn't great. The TV channels were a little sporadic but we managed to watch most of Wimbledon! Generally we had a lovely stay in the house. Would we visit again to the same property? unfortunately not, house keeping issues I'm afraid put us off and the noise from the pub deliveries were frustrating as we like to go away to not have to be woken at the crack of dawn and/or to be stripping beds and cleaning our loos!
