What our customers say about their holidays

    • Hazel - Verified booking

The first impression of Hudson was WOW!

This was beautiful and well appointed. The enclosed garden was ideal for our dog. Plenty of crockery and cutlery. We tried very hard to get the TV to work but it didn’t. All it did was buffer. The WiFi signal was very weak and kept dropping out for our phones too. We spent time looking at leaflets on places to go, then realised they hadn’t been updated since 2018. We couldn’t get the info on our phones to follow them up. The sitting room was upstairs and was comfortable. Apart from the sharp nail that stuck up through a dining room chair. I did tell the maintenance man about it. We were told there was a washing machine we could use. We hunted! Eventually our neighbour form Bilboa showed us where it was. It is located in a shipping container in a fenced area that looked locked. It really needed to be made clear in the information book where it was. I had phoned in advance about using the washing machine and was told it was in the annex! Likewise it would be good to know how the hob worked. It should have been stated in the information folder. It took ages to work it out. We love the location. The grounds are amazing and it is well located for the Lake District and the West Coast. Places to eat would include The Fleece, The Applestore, Daisy Clough Nurseries and The Barn. Amazing ice-cream at The Barn, one scoop is huge!

      A wonderful house !

We live quite close by but hadn’t realised how gorgeous the countryside is around the farmhouse . The gardens are beautiful and so well maintained. We are of an age where mattresses are important ! Apart from the double bedroom at the back of the house above the hall, the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. The pool table was a great hit with all ages of our family. Just a few suggestions. We had very watchful adults around our toddlers, however the windows upstairs are set attractively low down as per the age of the house and we felt there could be more secure locks .The second living room was hardly used. What is more important is that there is only room for 4/5 adults on the sofa in the main living room. If one has rented the house to be with family it means that if 10 of you would like to sit together ,at least 5 have to spend the evening sitting on dining chairs. Things to do Great walks from the house ,yet only a few minutes drive into Chorley for provisions. Astley Hall , Heskin Hall , Samlesbury Hall , Hoghton Tower all interesting places within a short drive. Lots of family attractions nearby.Farm visits, cinemas, bowling etc. Best of all is the lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere with peaceful views. We will certainly book the house annually if we can!

Myrtle Cottage is nicely placed just outside of the town centre, but with easy access on foot to all of the facilities.

Arguably the best pub in the Town in less than a minute’s walk away and there are (if I recall correctly) six others to choose from. For those who like their food, there are two butcher’s shops, a cheesemonger and two supermarkets within a five-minute walk as well a selection eating-out opportunities. There is easy access to the M6 making the Cottage convenient for lots of places to visit. The Cottage itself is not enormous, but certainly not pokey either. The finish is to a high standard, the kitchen is well stocked with utensils and the courtyard garden is a lovely, useable outdoor space. The listing states three guests and two double bedrooms, which is a little confused. The Cottage would definitely sleep two couples, though visitors should ensure that they’re happy with the eating arrangements, which are clearly shown on the photographs. This property suited me perfectly and I’ll definitely be looking to book again soon.

Moody House Farm was a lovely property and well equipt.

Although we had 10 people in together we all had our own space aswell if we wished . It was lovely having the horses come up to the fence and watch the squirrel running around. The garden was immaculate and safe for the dogs to run around. Thank you for the welcome treats .Walks to the left of property is wood's with different tracks to take. Straight down the road on the right was a lovely walk by the resovouir. Shops 5 mins in car .Not forgetting the summer house to sit in when it got cooler. The hot tub was large and relaxing. Great views from the property aswell. We had a day out at Southport about 40 mins away. Like it has been mentioned before a downstairs toilet would be a great addition especially for older or younger children. But had a great stay thank you.

What a fantastic few days we had here as a family with my parents.

The house was spotless and exactly as described. The kitchen was really well stocked with everything we needed with 2 fridges and a large freezer! We had hours of fun playing pool and the hot tub was fantastic to relax in after a long walk (towels were provided for this)! The house was really warm, spacious, and the water always piping hot. There are plenty of fantastic walks right on the doorstep, all of which we were able to let our dog off the lead. The garden was also really dog friendly with fabulous views. Plenty of kindle, firelighters and logs were provided for the wood burners which kept us going every night for the week. Many thanks Nicky for making our stay at your house so special - a much needed holiday after a long year of lock down!!!!
