What our customers say about their holidays

    • Paula - Verified booking

We had no access to any of the facilities promised by yourselves.

No spa, no sauna, no gym. Very little was provided in the property. There was out of date milk in the fridge and the room with two single beds smelled of damp and the ceiling in the lounge/kitchen was stained badly. The bathroom had broken tiles and the seal around the shower wasn’t done properly and the grout between the floor tiles was broken and coming away. Which probably meant that water was ingressing the ceiling below. Only one bath towel was provided per person for the whole stay. No instructions were provided as to how to use the heating or hot water so I had to text the owner which meant we couldn’t shower or use hot water after a 6 hour drive to the property. I tried to use the hoover to clean the carpet in the lounge and the Hoover stunk of dust. The pillows were flat and no spare ones were provided also one of my pillows had black marks on it. Finally, the listing also stated that there was a garden but there isn’t a garden, just a small grassed area in front of the property with a bench that was too rotting to sit to. The area was perfect to holiday in though and the site was quiet. No parking was available adjacent to the property and when they bring passes back into force anyone with a car renting this property will not be allowed to park because the owner won’t pay for ‘affiliation’ to give customers access to the site facilities. I really feel we should be given a refund given that the owner did not provide any of the benefits listed in your description and we paid a lot more than others with a better standard of accommodation who had access to facilities.

The property was great - a real home from home and would certainly recommend without any hesitancy.

The whole family agreed that it would be our preferred place to stay if we come back to Newquay. There were some slight issues, which I hope will be useful. The main bedroom door - top hinge is loose, causing the door to drop slightly, so it doesn't close properly. On-suite bathroom: door hing is slightly bent, so causes sticking when closed. A member of our family needed assistance to get out. Bulb missing on mirror. Kitchen: The star LED lights on the wall could do with a simple remote plug-in plug. There's a potential hazard if the existing double adapter, which was hangoing out of the socket, were to fall. Amazon unit on the counter could not be used. It kept asking for a login. Hall to bedrooms off kitchen: ceiling bulb not working. Garden: Potential hazard for children. There is easy access to the pergola beams and fall from the grass walkway leading to the hammocks. Hall to bedroom with diamond window: ceiling bulb not working. Downstairs toilet: door latch does not meet. Inside bolt very tight. Downstairs bathroom: bolt does not meet. Second light not working. Guide book states, in reference to cooker, "Please read instruction at rear of this guide to usage." But no instructions. Same applies for washing machine and tumble dryer. Guide mentions television in kitchen - but there isn't one. The above list are things I noticed could do with fixing. They aren't major issues and did not spoil our enjoyment of this lovely home. I mention them because they are little maintenance issues that could quite easily be missed. Regards, Philip

Beautiful property in a great location.

The property has everything you would need and more. It’s about a 5/10 min walk from the centre of town (there’s quite a big hill down to town so the walk back up probably isn’t ideal for anyone with mobility problems, however it was fine for our party who ranged from mid 60’s to young teens. There were scones, cream, tea bags and milk for us on arrival which were a pleasant surprise for us after a 7 hour journey. The weather wasn’t great whilst we were there so we didn’t get to make the most of the roof top terrace but the views from the lounge are equally amazing. The guests prior to us had reported a drip on the tap and the owner got no in touch to see if he could send someone to have a look just to check it out. This worked around our plans and the plumber was in and out without disturbing our holiday which the reassurance there wasn’t a major issue. Would certainly recommend, everyone in our party commented on how beautiful the properly and views were.

We had a lovely holiday stay in Apple Barn and the enclosed garden was perfect for our dog.

Pauline (Housekeeping) was lovely in taking care of us and making us feel welcome and the welcome email and handy app from the owners prior to arrival is a brilliant idea so you have everything at your finger tips if you if you need it. For me this would be 5 stars if it had a larger bathroom and softer mattress in one of the rooms. The current shower room which is just off the kitchen is tiny for a two bed property. Even my 6 foot husband couldn’t sit on the toilet properly because of lack of space which isn’t ideal and could be an issue for even taller occupants. The shower room sink also became quite blocked during our stay, but once the owner was contacted they did say they would sort this straight away before the next guest stay. A lovely place and location to stay. We have stayed in Lavender Barn too before which is across the road and given this is only 1 bed, it feels a much larger property.

      Excellent cottage.

What I did find that was different to other cottages was the communication from the owners and property manager. I was contacted with very usefull info from both the owner and the property manager in the days leading up to our trip down to Cornwall. They have a purpose made APP dedicated to the cottage and the beautiful village of Crantock with info on places to visit - a real gem of an idea. The cottage itself is prestine and loved every aspect of it. The enclosed garden is ideal for dogs as well. The cottage is literally 2 mins walk to 2 pubs and a lovely cafe - all of these are not to be missed out. The amazing Crantock beach is only around 10 mins to walk to as well. I could go on for ever about this property and village. You won't be dissapointed at all. 5 star holiday cottage :)
