What our customers say about their holidays

    • Amy - Verified booking

Our weekend away here was just perfect.

The cottage is well equipped, with everything you need to hand. Inc all kitchen crockery/utensils/washing up stuff/dishwasher/dishwasher tablets/washing machine/iron/ironing board/kitchen roll/tea towels/ linen/ bath towels... I could go on. We really didn’t need to bring anything with us, just our own toiletries. On arrival there was milk and clotted cream in the fridge, and a basket with scones, bread, jam and tea waiting on the windowsill. Such lovely touches, that we weren’t expecting. The cottage is so homely, with personal items around the home which make you feel welcome Ie beautiful art work, unique lamps and candles. The cottage is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach, which is just beautiful. We are lunch at ‘The Mermaid’. The food was fantastic, and we would definitely recommend grabbing some lunch there. The cottage was a perfect size for our family of 6, being able to socialise in the living area on the second floor allowed anyone who was sleeping to remain undisturbed downstairs. The owner was easily contactable, really putting us at ease during our stay, as we knew if we needed anything we could contact him. The log fire is just amazing, really makes the cottage cosy and warm. There were plenty of logs left for us at the cottage, but because we wanted to keep it burning for long periods we nipped to Aldi to pick up some more treated logs. A taxi to Newquay town centre took 5 mins and cost £9.50, and we were able to order a take away ‘Indian’ from Newquay that delivered free of charge. We had a really lovely stay and would definitely come back. We will also be recommending this to our family who are looking for a summer holiday vacation. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Recently returned from chi am mor .

property was as advertised in a fabulous location , with short walks / drives to many beautiful beaches , which is exactly what we wanted . House was clean and tidy on arrival , it was well equipped with most utensils and there was some lovely little extras like . nice loaf of fresh bread , some milk , lovely scones , jam and clotted cream which was all yummy , and a couple of treats for our little dog . there was also a bottle of washing up liquid which was all well received.( thank you very much) The master bed which was 2 beds zipped together was very comfortable and quite spacious ( we both slept like a log ) . overall we had a lovely stay in a house which was in a fabulous location . There was a few minor negatives , which we would not want , to put anybody off booking this property . there was no hammock in garden , which we would not have used so did not bother us and there was no barbeque which we would have used but to be honest was no inconvenience . but would advise this is pointed out to other potential renters . The wood burning hot tub was nice , but needed too much baby sitting and attention on this point and this point only we would probable not return , as we prefer a convectional hot tub , ( as with a hot tub . you would return from a nice day out , put some bathers on and just have to jump in and relax , with a glass of wine ) . instead of having to light a fire and wait for a couple of hours . We would like to finish on a high as the property is very nice and in a stunning location , the couple of minor negatives in no way spoilt our holiday we still had a ball .

Chi An Mor is a beautiful bungalow with great views over Porth Beach .

We had a great week , The hot tub is useless , we tried to light it twice but gave up in the end which was disappointing as I booked this rental because it had a hot tub . Garden is nice and spacious for dogs to run around although it is overlooked from neighbours at the back and we did feel a little on show . Garden chair covers could do with a wash . Didn’t use the BBQ as no table in the garden to eat at . The Bungalow could do with blinds up in the kitchen and the garden room as when you are sat on sofa people can see straight in to the sitting room . Chi An Mor would benefit from more seats in the sitting room as there is a huge space unused . We thought that it could have been cleaner too ! Cobwebs in the bathroom , sofa not vacuumed (dogs hairs all under cushions )dust underneath sofa . Back Door needs a good wash and so do all the window frames and Patio Door frames . The welcome pack for our dogs was much appreciated (toys and treats) The human welcome pack of scones , Jam & Cream and a loaf of bread was a lovely thought ,a pint of milk would have made it just perfect . We didn’t use the oven only the hob which was great . Plenty of utensils but could do with extra cups plates and cutlery as we were forever washing them up . There is a washing line in the garden but only 3 pegs . A hose pipe which was great for cleaning our doggies . Shower was great and lovely soft towels . The few things I’ve mentioned did not spoil our holiday .. we had a great time . Thank you Chi An Mor for the memories .

This is the second time staying at the Sunset view, the first time was excellent hence why we booked it again this year.

However, upon arrival it appears that the time taken to clean the property has been cut, or the cleaners are in the habit of cutting some corners. Some of the things we reported to Sykes was, dog faeces had been left on the decking area, mould found in the bottom of childrens cups and the cooker rings were dirty. Findind dog faeces on the decking area is totally unacceptable. I picked the mess up straight away as my 5 year old lad almost stepped in it. Sykes offered to come and clean the other issues however the cleaners arrived at 6pm whilst getting the kids ready for bed which wasnt convenient. During our stay we also found that the hot tub was full of dead woodlouse and had an oily film on the surface, giving the appearance it hadn'tbeen cleaned for a while. Again Sykes came round and cleaned the hot tub and refilled it, this was halfway through our holiday. Upon our last morning, and whilst cleaning up before leaving, my wife moved the door mat in the kitchen to sweep the floor. On doing so she found quite a few mouldy old crisps. It appeared previous occupants had swept their mess under the mat and the cleaner hadn't found them. Whilst I complained to Sykes at the beginning of our holiday, they were fast in rectifying the issues and they couldn't apologise enough. Whilst we had an enjoyable holiday, we won't be booking Sunset View for a third time.

This lovely holiday home was in a perfect location, 5 mins walk from the beach/The Mermaid Inn (serving good food).

A couple of days prior to arrival Sykes called to say the Hot tub had been broken by previous guests. We requested a partial refund, which unfortunately Sykes really didnt want to get involved with. After some insistence on my part they contacted Ian (the owner) who agreed to reimburse us a reasonable sum. We felt Sykes really didn't want to know (goodness knows what would of happened had there been a bigger problem). Saying that really couldn't fault how the Owners dealt with us. Lovely scones/cream on arrival and some lovely touches / artwork. There were just a few MINOR things, which in our opinion would improve the house greatly. 1. A bit of a lack of utensils 2. Some sort of unobtrusive blinds would give the lounge a more cosy feel in Winter. 3. Felt the bedroom curtains/poles were a bit cheap and cheerful (very thin and awkward to pull) There was only on real thing I would mention, that is the single bedroom mattresses were awful. My 13 year old daughter could feel every spring, so much so, that we took sheet off and had found a couple of spare duvets to put on top of mattress which helped. Better quality mattresses needed!! We had a fantastic time and in all honesty it was just a shame about the bed. Would definitely return, just please invest in some new mattresses... would make all the difference.
