What our customers say about their holidays

    • Philip - Verified booking

The property was great - a real home from home and would certainly recommend without any hesitancy.

The whole family agreed that it would be our preferred place to stay if we come back to Newquay. There were some slight issues, which I hope will be useful. The main bedroom door - top hinge is loose, causing the door to drop slightly, so it doesn't close properly. On-suite bathroom: door hing is slightly bent, so causes sticking when closed. A member of our family needed assistance to get out. Bulb missing on mirror. Kitchen: The star LED lights on the wall could do with a simple remote plug-in plug. There's a potential hazard if the existing double adapter, which was hangoing out of the socket, were to fall. Amazon unit on the counter could not be used. It kept asking for a login. Hall to bedrooms off kitchen: ceiling bulb not working. Garden: Potential hazard for children. There is easy access to the pergola beams and fall from the grass walkway leading to the hammocks. Hall to bedroom with diamond window: ceiling bulb not working. Downstairs toilet: door latch does not meet. Inside bolt very tight. Downstairs bathroom: bolt does not meet. Second light not working. Guide book states, in reference to cooker, "Please read instruction at rear of this guide to usage." But no instructions. Same applies for washing machine and tumble dryer. Guide mentions television in kitchen - but there isn't one. The above list are things I noticed could do with fixing. They aren't major issues and did not spoil our enjoyment of this lovely home. I mention them because they are little maintenance issues that could quite easily be missed. Regards, Philip

We were sceptical about the property based on previous reviews, but were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.

The house was clean on appearance, but having 2 young grandchildren with us, we did have to hunt for lost toys under furniture etc throughout the week - and I would say these were not pulled out and hovered under/ dusted for some time! Though this did not impact our stay. I think important for the owners to know. The hot tub is definitely not being maintained properly. We have a hot tub at home. It appeared clean (apart from a few bits of debris/sand which you’d expect) but after just one use , the water started to go stagnant (green and smelly!) on Sunday / Monday. My husband checked and cleaned the filter (it had clearly not been cleaned for a considerable period of time) and we brought some chlorine with us from home (based on previous reviews) so were able to use again the next day! A contact number for the maintenance people or advice in the property booklet and access to chemicals would be helpful here! Every other property we’ve stayed in send out a maintenance clerk to check the levels at least once during our stay. Again did not impact our stay, but I’m not sure what agreement the owners have but worth checking? Being Christmas and a large family we had a LOT of recycling. We tried to take it to the local recycling centre but as non residents were not permitted to use the facilities. Again some information on where to leave this in the handbook would be helpful here. Other than these few things, the house was well decorated with lovely furniture, and kitchen had everything we needed. Great location!

The property is in a great location, but sadly let down by a few things.

It's situated in a quiet road, within walking distance to the pub and beach, it's very secluded with the back garden backing onto fields and you can just about see the sea from the bedroom windows. But there are a few things that need addressing which you can see from other peoples comments this year. The property for us was clean, apart from the hot tub which we're not sure was emptied before our arrival. We arrived just after 3pm and it was already at 40 degrees so from the previous checkout at 10am that is very quick to get it up to temperature. There were scum marks around two of the headrests which we cleaned ourselves but over the week the whole tub started to look dirty and you could clearly see where I had drawn lines in it. I would query the chemical levels and certainly nobody came back to check it during our stay. The hot tap in the kitchen definitely doesn't work, we could only get cold water out of it and then we noticed a big puddle from the unit in the cupboard underneath the sink so stopped using it and used the kettle instead. And the rubbish bin was completely full when we arrived, we put the bin out as requested but it wasn't collected so we had to leave all our rubbish in a bag in the utility. The owner has responded and addressed comments throughout the year which is good and I think if they give it some love over the winter and make it feel a bit more homely then it could be great. We would consider it again but only once the scores & comments have improved.

We love staying at Bro Tref and stayed last year.

The location is spot on and the village is lovely. However, this year, the house was not as clean as last year, we found butter in the microwave, and some dog poo on the gravel, ( but no worries as it was disguised and easily done, so we dealt with it). I also understand that allowing dogs is great as we brought two of our furry friends, but the resources to clean the house has gone backwards. The brush was dirty and old and although I tried to keep the floor tidy, the brush was not up to the job. Under the sink is a mess, there is so much clutter and gunge. Under the stairs is a mop bucket and mop which is smelly so adds to the aroma in the living room. The very old Dyson hoover does not work effectively, we tried to use it but the suction is limited and it has seen better days. I remember that last year there was a small henry hoover which did the job well. The upstairs shower is need of some maintenance as it doesn't drain very well. The main double room has a mouldy damp smell, but this is down to a small wooden cupboard and it is the wood which is contributing to this. Not sure how often the windows are cleaned but they were mucky and needed a clean. Outside rear has had an improvement which was good to see. I don't want to be over critical as we will definitely come again but the house needs some general maintenance and the cleaning contract needs to be relooked at especially the contract that is had to clean the place as it was not up to the same standard as last year.

      What a fantastic break!

! This is a stunning property which makes you feel at home the minute you walk through the door!! The view captures you as soon as you walk in and you can’t help but open the sliding doors and take it all in. The open plan layout makes for a really sociable stay and the high spec kitchen makes pottering around and cooking a real joy. The view from the balcony is spectacular, whatever the time of day - your morning cuppa watching the early dog walkers on the beach, or the kids desperate to make to make their first sandcastle, the families enjoying time together during the day, to the stunning sunsets in the evenings with the final ramblers coming over the hill or those trying to catch the last waves of the day. In terms of location, the beach is a stones throw away with a pub, restaurant, coffee shops all within walking distance. Main supermarkets are just a short drive away. Newquay and watergate bay are just a very short drive away with so much more to explore if you want to go further afield. I could talk about this property and the amazing time we had all night but hoping I’ve covered the basics! Angie was also an amazing host and provided us with lots of info on the local area as well as suggestions for our birthday celebration whilst we were there! I cannot recommend Angie and her beautiful home enough - we are already looking at dates for our return! Thank you again for allowing us to share your stunning home!
