As seasoned travelers and at that age to know better, it was somewhat a deflating moment in all honesty.
The price was high and the amenities were somewhat lacking. My first encounter with the owner was also disappointing as our holiday property boasted of a BBQ and a hot tub. Well the BBQ was just the basic brick built effort with a metal grill for which you could place a throw away BBQ set that you would have to purchase. Jokingly I said to the owner what about yours which was the top of the range gas BBQ, and the face said it all. It didn't end there either. The double bed was soft and clearly seen better days, as for the pull out settee that was in the living room was a newish leather settee, that was fixed, and was rock hard, with very little give. The shower room was a little run down and could have done with a spruce up, but it was adequate. My snag list would be. Attention to detail and it would start in the shower room which looked a little run down the ventilation was poor and the shower unit wasn't that user friend to operate. In the kitchen and living area, it was super compact and had limited workspace to use in preparing food. Whilst we all understand that no place will ever tick every box, this place for us was below what we have experienced anywhere else, and that is saying something. The patio was cramp, and the hot tub cover wasn't easy to operate without the need of a second person. A tip would be to offer a small child's fishing net to clear out all the dead flies as a hot tub seems to be a magnet for them. Air Con would be a positive step in the right direction for these people to up their game, but other than that we were relieved to leave early, than our departure date. I do wish them well, but retrospectively, they do need to remember that holiday makers still want the creature comforts of home too. Regards Denis Brown

Clean as a whistle.
Lovely friendly helpful owners with nice doggies of their own that are also friendly! I loved that Dawn had horses too, in particular the white one that liked to neigh to you as a hello! Private use of the garden was great, just a few steps from the private courtyard. All dog safe. Dawn got us some garden chairs and put them in the garden because you do get the sun in there. Our dog loved it because itâs was long enough for a ball throwing session. Loads of parking. Supermarkets plenty a short drive away and the Co op walking distance. Had dinner at The Coach And Horses a couple of times. Recommend. Went into Newlyn about 3 times. Good fish and chips cooked to order and also the visit he Mackerel Sky fish bistro..... no bookings taken you just turn up. Hot tub was used every day and always hot. (Itâs does make a humming sound in the night but we ignored that). Shower room a good size with strong shower and heated towel rail you can turn on if needed. Kitchen equipped enough and has a dishwasher but we tend to was up by hand.....old habits die hard, lol. Bed was comfortable enough for us if a bit small. Other half is quite a big guy. Not heavy just broad. All locals we spoke to were friendly and recommended walks. Weather wasnât that good but we had a relaxing break. Even if weather not great itâs still good to be in the 38 degree bubbles. Thanks Ian and Dawn xx

Ian and Dawn were very friendly.
The accommodation was very clean, there were instruction manuals for dishwasher, washing machine, cooker and microwave, which in all the years I've done self catering this is the first time I've seen this. The mattress was a little bit soft for me and my husband and because of previous feedback about the pillows being to soft I took my own very expensive pillow but left it there, Dawn has kindly said she will post it back to me, if it had been a cheap pillow I won't have bothered asking them to send it back. As you come out on to the main road and turn right there is a chip shop a bit further on is a co-op and further on again there is the coach & horses, the food was very enjoyable, booking advised. Turn left onto the main road from the accommodation and there is a all you can eat Chinese restaurants, cant comment on the food as we didn't go there. Because of the weather we only used the hot tub a couple of times, the heat was kept at a steady 38, the levels were checked daily by Dawn. All in all it was a very relaxing stay just what we wanted.

The cottage is quite dark inside, could do with a sign saying mind your head on the front door as it is low and we both banged our head on the door and stairs several times The farm yard in full of derelict buildings and doesnât look good on arrival Would not be safe for younger children , But having said that we had a lovely holiday ,ideally situated from all the places we wanted to go The cottage was comfortable ,bedding clean One thing I will say is the cottage was in desperate need of a new toilet seat Although it was clean it was all stained and looked mouldy I cleaned it myself when I got there and it didnât look any better Although the owners were there we never met them they never came to introduce themselves or ask if everything was ok This was the cheapest cottage by far we have stayed in so I knew it had something wrong with it

We throughly enjoyed our stay at 5 Parc Terrace.
Newlyn is a lovely village with lovely restaurants (Mackrel Sky Seafood, The Bridge) Café (Duke St Cafe) and Pubs (The Swordfish) all of which are dog friendly. The house is in a perfect location to walk to Penzance and Mousehole and a bus route which runs through can also be used to get to other areas/sights of Cornwall. This information written in the welcome pack would have been useful. The house was on a steep hill, a good way to walk off the food and drinks, and we were lucky with parking to have had a pace on the road just outside the house. The house itself was decorated lovely, clean and was everything we needed for a week with our dog. The gifts on arrival were a lovely touch! Thank you for a lovely week and we would definitely recommend to stay here as a base for exploring Cornwall
