What our customers say about their holidays

    • Samantha - Verified booking

      Amazing property and people!

What an amazing place almost magical, my children were ready to move in! Everything you needed was at the barn, I took tea towels, washing up liquid, sponges and dog bowls etc but it was so well equipped I needn't of bothered. Katie and David have thought of everything! On entering the property on arrival there was a basket on the table with fresh eggs from the farm, biscuits, tea towel, snacks a little welcome note all in a lovely little basket. I have a toddler and was a bit worried about the stairs after reading the reviews but they are fine and beautiful. Each step has large flat grips on them and they were normal size if not bigger than normal and they had a wooden gate at the top which stopped the dogs from getting up and said toddler from falling down, such a relief. Everywhere had blankets if needed my girls loved the sheep ones and an extra quilt for the main bed although it was warm enough we didn't need it. The children loved the playroom and just everything you can imagine was thought of at this barn. It was beautiful and the decor was just perfect for an old barn. I must also add I wasn't kept up by dogs or heard them hourly, they do have dogs but further away from the property and its a working farm in the countryside so you are surrounded by nature and farm. The views are amazing and so much to do right on the doorstep, literally! If you walk out of the barn there is a footpath behind the owners property that takes you across a field over a small road and small footpath again to three chimneys cottage from the film the railway children at the bottom of the hill is the railway line that was used and you can still journey on a steam train if you wanted. Haworth is along the road and home to the bronte sisters and lovely quaint shops. Katie and David are amazing people, i was a bit worried at first being so close to the owners property but they didn't interfere or come over it was i that was popping to see them. Such interesting people and katie showed us her harps and played for us, my autistic daughter never talks but happily talked to katie and fell in love with the harp, will definitely be booking again! Thank you Kate and David for a magical week! X

We had a lovely stay at this property.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the place itself is incredibly charming, spacious and quaint. I can see why people come back. Having said that there were some issues we found frustrating...I was there as a single parent with 4 teenagers/young adults, and the wifi didnt work. We did try to sort it, the owners were helpful, but basically the only internet is via an extension in the farmhouse 15 paces and 2x 2 foot thick walls away. It didnt work, Im sure any parent of offspring can empathise with having four youngsters desperate to get online at night. There is 4G, but they ran out of data on day 2. Basically, the place needs its own wifi. The gas oven was very poor, it took an hour to cook oven chips (I finished them on the hob eventually), and it kept just going out. The TV needs replacing, the picture is pink and a speaker has blown, considering it was autum and we had no wifi, the TV would have been appreciated, but we found it too frustrating. Lastly the place is toasty warm except for the kitchen/dining area which was freezing cold. One of the radiators wasnt working, so it needs additional heating, particularly if you consider we were there in relatively mild autumn conditions, in winter it would be unusable. All in all though, it was great, and I hope the owners consider this feedback not as critisism, but as a way of understanding how to really improve the experience of staying in their lovely Barn :)

Cons Difficult access via a long, bumpy dusty road full of deep potholes and not very many passing places.

Had to reverse numerous times along the deep pot hole access road. Hard to see around sharp corner to exit onto main road. Hot Tub bubble setting tripped all electricity in property owner on day 3 owner promised to sort with electrician following day but heard nothing so could not use hot tub for remainder of stay, although electricity restored quickly. No storage at all in double bedrooms just coat hooks on wall. Door hit the bed in one of the rooms so limited space. Access to 3 of 4 storage drawers under beds in twin room which was only storage for clothes for whole property. Twin room has no mirror and only tiny mirror in hallway v difficult for adults using twin room to get ready when plug socket required for hair dryer / straighteners. Very noisy Cockerell, geese and peacocks from 4am. Kids in play area in front of property and sweeping outside bedroom windows from very early..not very restful. Fridge too small to store food/ drinks/milk for 6 adults for a weeks stay. Pros Very close to Howarth and surrounding area for exploring. 3 bathrooms 2 with walk in showers Fans provided in all rooms Everything provided for stay..tea towels, cloths, dishwasher tablets, foil and well stocked kitchen, although not 6 small juice glasses when property sleeps 6. Enjoyed stay but would not stay again.

We came to stay to celebrate my 30th birthday.

. Upon arrival we were given a bottle of prosecco which was a lovely touch. We got straight in the hot tub and relaxed. The cabin is surrounded by the most beautiful creatures. Peacocks, Alpacas, Goats, Hens, Geese. All of which know there limits and do not try to come into the cabin/hot tub areas. If you take a pet with you they have a dedicated paddock area where they can go do there business, but have to be kept on their lead. There is a forest which is a 5 minute walk away where they can run free. Out cabin (the old hen shed) was sound proofed, so when we were inside making noise or is neighbours were having a party then there was nothing to be heard from inside or out. Cabin was very clean, beds were extremely comfy and we couldn't wish for anything more than what they provided... we even got complimentary fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning.. I got back yesterday and i am already looking to go back for new year! I will recommend this cottage to anyone that asks!

We had such a lovely relaxing stay at the old hen shed over Christmas.

The Hun shed had everything we needed and was super clean and comfortable. Jo and Stu left some lovely biscuits and welcoming treats which was a lovely surprise. They were so helpful and informative. The animals were lovely and our children Loved learning about them and Jo letting them feed the Alpacas, especially the cheeky and very funny Ronnie. The hot tub was a real treat and we really enjoyed using it each evening, The site itself is lovely and so peaceful, also in easy reach of walks and shops and pubs. Prior to our arrival I had called Stu who was happy to tell me about local events and nice pubs so I could plan our trip and book tickets etc which was really helpful and greatly appreciated. We will certainly be booking again in the future and have been telling our friends and colleagues about the old hen shed too. Thankyou for a lovely holiday and all the care and attention throughout from such lovely hosts.
