On a positive note, the location of the property was excellent.
A stones throw away from the lake and bars / restaurants. On a less positive note we were not allowed into the property until after 17:00, despite being told access would be granted by 16:00. After travelling 4+ hours with two small children and a baby this was somewhat of an inconvenience. I understand that in the current situation (due to covid) extra care and attention is needed to ensure cleanliness, however this was not the case. Upon entry my family and I were shocked at the standard of cleanliness, especially when an extra hour was provided to carry out the cleaning. Clearly the residents previous to us had a dog in their company as almost ever carpet / laminate floor was thick with dog hair, which implies the floors had never seen a vacuum cleaner or mop. Also the lower shelf of the coffee table was thick with dust.......and again more dog hair.......which raises the question, were the surfaces cleaned? The living room window was filthy inside and out from what looks like dog nose marks rubbing against it. Furthermore we requested a highchair as my sister has an 8 month old baby. This was very kindly provided for us, however it had also clearly never been cleaned. Finally, numerous fans were provided which were welcomed as our weather was extremely good, however...yet again...they were thick with dust. So to conclude.....In the current environment I can forgive the fact that we could not get into the property until over an hour after initially informed. However when clearly very little or no cleaning has taken place this is not acceptable. I have no issue with allowing dogs to stay in holiday lets, but surely extra care and attention should be taken for cleaning up the inevitable mess that they leave behind? The providing of extra facilities such as highchairs and desk fans is great, but if you are going out of your way to provide these surely the should also be clean? On a final note, I did contact the cleaners directly and to their credit they did come fairly quickly to run a vaccum around the house. I would have happily done this myself but their was no vaccum cleaner on the premises. I hope you have found this feedback useful? Other than the cleanliness of the property our holiday was great. Kind regards

We stayed here for the weekend with a group of friends.
There were 8 of us, 4 couples. The entrance is very welcoming, tidy and neat. The dining table was great. Ample size for us all. The lounge area seated 5 comfortably, 6 was a squeeze and the other two adults had to sit on a dining chair. Not great for comfort. We did say that in the bay window, they was possibly room for another lounge seat. The kitchen was great. Bright, clean with all necessities. The cinema room in the basement was an amazing addition although we didnât get a chance to use it. Kids and movie buffs would be delighted,Iâm sure. The bedrooms are beautifully presented and spacious, although the bedroom at the rear of the property was a little tight for two adults. The main bedroom with the roll top bath was so gorgeous! We all wanted that room, you could have a bath in the sumptuous bubble bath and watch the tv! Bliss. Bathrooms are also well presented, especially the shared shower room on the first floorâ¦amazing decor! The showers werenât power showers but the toiletries were a nice touch. Posh ones! Thereâs a tiny yard out the back, just for bins really but there is a nice seating area at the front of the house. Again, well maintained and tidy. We had a lovely stay at Woodlands and would definitely return. Itâs in a lovely quiet neighbourhood, only a short stroll from the centre of the village. Neighbouring Bowness a 20min walk or 5 minute car journey away. With the outstanding natural beauty of Lake Windermere right there. Breathtaking.

Wow fabulous cottage for two!
Beautiful views and setting, also very easy to find in addition itâs very central for visiting all the sights. The cottage is very modern/comfortable and had everything you could possibly want. We arrived to an immaculately clean place smelling wonderful and a great touch of a welcoming pack containing milk, Prosecco, biscuits and crisps waiting for us. Hand soap provided in the kitchen and bathroom along with washing up liquid, tea towels, bathroom towels and bedding already on the bed. Also there was a really good hairdryer, which I wasnât expecting to be available. I would have liked a recycling bin to go along side the general waste bin, and there is no washing machine but these are minor issues. Lovely walk down to the Jetty and shore area which was a great place to sit and watch what was happening on the lake. As others have said there is a very steep incline up to the cottage from the parking area / rubbish area. This was slippery in the wet so you had to be careful. There are some lovely walks from the cottage if you donât want to drive or get the bus. The Windermere museum is just down the road, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch and a trip on lake on one of their restored boats. We will definitely be back to stay at Ginger & Pickles! Thank you very much. X

Unfortunately we arrived to find the apartment hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests.
I contacted sykes and this was eventually rectified as the cleaners were called back out. (Special mention to sam in customer service he was excellent and kept me fully informed throughout the process) This was put down to miscommunication as the cleaners were not aware the property needed cleaning. I can fully accept that these kind of errors happen in all industries and were it an isolated incident I wouldn't even mention it. However we stayed at the same property 18 months ago and when we arrived at 4pm we had to sit outside in the cars for a good hour as the cleaners had only just turned up. I did mention this in my review at the time but it does seem that no improvements have been made. The actual standards of cleanliness in the apartment also leave a lot to be desired and I don't think a full deep clean has been carried out for some time. We are in no way fussy as we have a dog with us and we accept that in dog friendly properties the standards might not always be as high. Having said all that the property is very comfortable and spacious and is in a great location. However I definitely would not choose to book this property again as having the same issue twice in the space of 18 months isn't just down to bad luck.

Great property for 7 of us across three generations plus one pooch.
The property was spacious and really comfortable with good parking for our three cars and for us was an excellent location with a 15 minute walk to the marina and a further 15 to 20 minutes into Bowness. The views are great and luckily the forecast rain didn't arrive so we able to sit out in the sun trap patio at the front of the house. Immediate area is quiet and peaceful - car is essential. Just a couple of comments which are in the spirit of making the experience at Storrs even better. Towels - a bit thin and small and not enough bath towels for all of us. General waste is collected every other week and outside bin was full when we arrived - it would be good to have a collection dates listed in the property information. It would also be good to have a sketch of the garden that belongs to the property as we were unsure whether the lawned area behind the property's fenced rear garden could be used. These are not complaints but meant to be helpful. Overall a really great stay.
