What our customers say about their holidays

Valley View is a nice lodge, if a little cluttered.

There didn’t seem to be as much space to move around in the living area as we have had in other lodges at Limefitt. This maybe due to the odd angle of the breakfast bar. It’s also not in as good a position as the other lodges. You feel that you need to have the blinds drawn most of the time as it isn’t too private. My other concern was that it had no DVD player in the living room despite being advertised as having one there. We clarified it with the booking agent when we booked and she confirmed it was advertised as such. We knew the chance of having bad weather over the weekend was high so we had bought DVD’s for the evenings. Sadly the only DVD player was a Playstation in one of the bedrooms. This had a notice on it stating ‘not to be moved’ but there are no available sockets in the living area to plug it in if you did move it. We rang the helpline to ask about the DVD and was told someone would get back to us, we also got a confirming email stating this. Unfortunately no one contacted us so we called the helpline again and was told the DVD player was broken, the person on the helpline also said that judging by the photos it was never in the living area. the person then told us to move the Playstation. We explained there were no available sockets. Just after this call the advert was changed and no longer states that there is a DVD player in the living area. The DVD player may seem like a trivial issue but it was one of the reasons we picked Valley View. We were disappointed with that and the response from the helpline. We were also disappointed that we weren’t told before hand, that it was broken, if that was the case, and the fact the advert was amended after we queried it.

The whole lodge is very worn and tired, needs work done on it to justify the spend on hiring this lodge.

The lodge had not been cleaned very well and wallpaper was dirty, dust in lots of places and lampshades were thick with dust. There was also a very unpleasant smell so we called the owner to mention some of these things including broken rail in wardrobe, we were unhappy with. Its fair to say his comment was that it had been a long season and that he would sack the cleaners. He would talk to the park, too which we had a visit from maintenance within the hour and they looked at all the drains and noticed a hose under the waste for shower had been disconnected. He connected it up, but still the smell lingered. The next time the shower was used the tray filled up with water and didn't run away which is why i believe the hose had been disconnected in the first place,we called the owner. Again, he called maintenance and they turned up again and said they would do some checks of all the pipes at the time they also confirmed that the cleaners were not people they used for this lodge so there was nothing they could do in respect of our concerns of the cleanliness especially as we had a 4 month old with us. When we got back in the evening the shower water did run away but the smell was still there and quite overpowering some days. The mattress in the on suite double room was also very dented on one side as if it had a hole, so some very uncomfortable sleeping. Overall very disappointed with the stay in this lodge and very expensive for the state it was in and owner not particularly bothered about our concerns.A lot of wasted time waiting round to sort the drains In my opinion someone should have come along to at least give it all a steam clean after our complaint....

Valley View Lodge - Great Lodge but, needs Improving Limefitt Park is quiet, relaxed and has a nice atmosphere.

. There are walks you can go onto directly from the park and the views of mountain from the park are breath taking. We stayed at Valley View Lodge on the park which we have done for the last 2 years. It is clean inside and generally a good lodge. Constructively, I would say the fridge/freezer needs replacing with perhaps an American fridge freezer with more space as current ones are not working as efficiently and limited for space. It also, needs a new modern smart TV as current one again looks old, slow and needs replacing. Apart from that inside of lodge is lovely. The bedrooms/toilets are fine and general facilities great. The outside seating areas needs a good clean and good lick of paint. We found it a bit messy in all honesty this time. Not swept properly or cleaned properly with bird poo on the chairs etc... Plus, it would be an even better lodge if the jacuzzi was available for guests as it is only reserved for private use because of past trouble but, I would say re-open again as the majority are responsible customers, who would respect this area and value the jacuzzi. Overall, a good experience but, needs an improvement now.

The lodge was very “tired” and not cleaned to a good standard(photos are available).

There were: Dusty skirting boards Mould in the shower Kitchen surfaces dining table and mats all required cleaning before we could use Cupboard which housed an arier and ironing board was messy and smelt fusty Ironing board cover was stained and not fit for purpose There was refurbishment taking place in the lodge next door and thus our view from the lounge was of a skip!! There was refurbishment also taking place three lodges away and at times during the day this was quite noisy The tv did not work on the main channels and despite several phone calls to the owner it took four days to restore which was an annoying thing to have to sort on your holiday One of the main reasons for booking this lodge was the hot tub but my husband and I did not use it and my daughter, son in law and two children only used it once as the ground around it was overgrown (in some places there were nettles) which made it difficult to get into and put the “senior” members of the group off even attempting to use it. Overall we were very disappointed with the quality of the lodge and would not stay again sndceoukd nit stay again

I don’t normally leave a review but on this occasion I feel I need to.

To start I want to say the lodge is beautiful and the views are amazing, it’s lovely to wake up to that view every day. However when we arrived the whole lodge was frozen, there was no heating and the water to everything had completed frozen, we tried to get maintenance but it was going to be a few hours. Luckily my husband is a farmer and had spent all week unfreezing pipes so after about 4-5 hrs we managed to get things up and running but it did take until well into the next day to start to get warm. I completely understand things being frozen with the weather but I feel someone should have checked on the property to make sure everything was ok before we arrived then the issue could have been sorted, it was that cold even the water in the toilet bowl was completely frozen, like I mentioned my husband had spent all week defrosting pipes, he didn’t expect to when we are going away for a weekend. We did feel like we had a wasted night at the lodge which is sad because it’s was a really lovely place to be when it was warm.
