What our customers say about their holidays

We regularly stay around the Highlands and Highfield Lodge is definitely one of the best places we've stayed. The property is really well equipped, with a good heating system so even in mid winter it was very cosy. The combined living room and dining area is quite spacious. The upper floor has another sitting room space opening up onto a patio and back garden. For a small place it feels like you have lots of space. I enjoyed the huge bed upstairs and my daughter was very comfortable on the fold out bed downstairs. It's tucked into a quiet spot in the village, so although its surrounded by houses, it feels quite secluded and certainly very quiet. There is car parking at the front, and only a very short walk to shops, cafes and other village amenities. There are also some good walks from the property, or take a short drive into the surrounding mountains and lochs. For the price we paid, this was a super great deal. The owners live next door, so a minor issue we had got sorted out immediately. After that, everything was perfect. We even decided to stay for an extra night as we enjoyed it so much.

We were a family of 4 with one of my son in a wheelchair.

We had a good time at Pebbles cottage. The location was great, along the scenic Loch Achilty. The access into the cottage was slightly difficult for a wheelchair, but the cottage is not designed or advertised as a Wheelchair friendly one, however we liked the location so decided to go for it and managed. The property was in clean condition, the owner was very friendly and welcoming and gave us very useful suggestions about local areas to explore. She was quick to respond to anything we needed. Property is a great location for people with interest in fishing, and water adventure and for walking and exploring nature. Cottage did had some minor maintenance issues and kitchenware needs up keeping. As there were lot of dogs of guests as well as the owner around, when we visited, we had to cope up with the occasional dog mess, which could be helped with some gentle reminders for the guests to keep the lawn clean. Overall, we had a good time and would recommend.

The chalet was very clean and had everything we needed.

It was very quiet and had nice views across the valley from the balcony. We saw red kites flying overhead and were told of red kite feeding everyday the other side of Strathpeffer. Sheep, chickens and highland cattle were all seen in the fields by the chalet. It was a bit tricky to find initially but the friendly host quickly came out and lead us there and explained all we needed to know about the property. We enjoyed the welcoming wine and chocolates very much. We were lucky enough to be around when Castle Leod was open to the public. It was very interesting and worth a visit. There are many walks in the area and scenic drives and a distillery at Muir of Ord just down the road. Rogie Falls to see the salmon leaping was another highlight. Loch Ness was easily accessible and we managed a day trip to the Isle of Skye with a lovely drive through the mountains.

      We loved Stone Water Cottage.

Firstly the setting is beautiful, there is a huge lawn looking over to the loch and it's position is absolutely ideal: quiet but not completely isolated. We loved exploring this gorgeous area, the towns are interesting and the scenery magnificent. The owners are so friendly and are on hand to give advice but they are not intrusive. It was a lovely touch to offer us the use of their rowing boat on the loch and we had great fun using it. Everyone mentions Toby, the owners' cocker Spaniel - he is delightful and very friendly, another wee bonus. Our weather was great and we were able to sit out with a glass of wine enjoying the tranquility and the beautiful surroundings. Can't wait to go back!

As we did not go to this property , even though it was paid for.

On phoning the owner he revealed that there was a problem with the access due to deep ruts in the access to this property, this made it impossible for us to visit. We booked an alternative on the same dates, resulting in a loss to ourselves. when I contacted customer services, there contact told me I should not go to Scotland as all roads were like that!!.He told me a refund not possible as owner had been paid. As we were led to believe that the property was accessible, i.e parking on site, this has been misrepresented, and a refund should be made, I am not happy with the way Sykes have handled this
