    Baslow Holiday Cottages

Baslow is a village in the Peak District - a mile north of Chatsworth House, Derbyshire. Situated on the River Derwent, spanned by a scenic and often-photographed 17th century bridge, Baslow holiday cottages are picture-perfect: ideal for a quintessentially British break in the countryside.

The village is located just beneath a gritstone edge of the same name and, despite its relatively small size, is home to plenty of hotels, pubs, cafés and restaurants. Foodies can even enjoy a Michelin-starred eatery at Fischer's Baslow Hall: worth a visit to really top off a memorable break, or for special occasions. Shopping fans will also appreciate the gaggle of exclusive boutique stores including big names and independent brands alike. Baslow sits around a pretty village green known as Goose Green and its neighbourhoods are known as five ‘Ends’: Far Baslow, Nether Baslow, Baslow Bridge, West Baslow and Baslow Over Ends.

Baslow holiday cottages form just some of the huge range of short-break accommodation options available on Snaptrip. Our best price guarantee ensures you won't find better value elsewhere and, with a range of options spanning swimming pools, fire pits, hot tubs and gardens, there’s lots to choose from for your next break.

What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely stay at Clematis Cottage.

The cottage had everything we could need and was perfectly located for the activities we wanted to do while we were there. We were greeted with a pack of tea cakes and a bottle of wine, which is a lovely touch and very welcome! The cottage is situated right next to the village shop and is owned by the family who run it, so there is always help if needed and is perfect for supplies if wanted. We ate at Rowley’s, Fischer’s Baslow Hall (a treat for our anniversary) and Il Lupino Ristorante, all of them are spitting distance from the cottage and highly recommended. The Lavendar Tea Rooms in Bakewell is a particular favourite that we’ve been to on previous visits. For those that like to stay in, there are DVDs and books galore (although we noted that a lot of freeview channels were not available). WiFi is good (the details are not in the welcome pack but are on the WiFi box itself). Reception is a little hit and miss upstairs but this is an old cottage so it did not bother us. The shower is not as good as the cottage details suggest. It was basic and satisfactory. There is a lovely roll top bath as well. The cottage is near a school but we were lucky with the parking as we were there during half term but I imagine it’s a little challenging if you try and park in the early morning or afternoon during term time. However this just requires a little bit of planning around, and common sense) and it would be absolutely fine. We would definitely return to Clematis Cottage and look forward to doing so in the New Year.

A beautiful cottage fantastically placed for walks and exploring the Peak District.

From the warm welcome from the owner to the beautiful, clean and well-equipped cottage we could not have had a better base for our week in Derbyshire. The cottage was very well presented and had all of the little touches that make you feel welcomed and “at home”. A comfortable sitting room, a lovely kitchen, two comfortable bedrooms and a very impressive bathroom - with a roll-top bath and “formidable” shower! We really appreciated all of the additional “baby” facilities that were provided - especially the stair gate (thank you). Certainly a family-friendly cottage (with family-friendly hosts). The courtyard garden (at the front) was also perfect for a leisurely breakfast in the warm weather! The cottage is perfectly located for walks/runs through the Chatsworth Estate (7mins walk away) or walks up the hill to Baslow / Curbar Edge with spectacular views (especially at sunrise / sunset). Bakewell, Hassop Station (and the Monsal Trail) and Padley Gorge were all within a very short drive (10mins) and Derwent Lake, Mam Tor and Dovedale are not much further. A perfect cottage for enjoying walks, runs or cycling in the Peak District… Thank you :-)

Clematis Cottage is a really pretty little cottage in the heart of Baslow.

It's brilliantly well placed to walk to Chatsworth or up Baslow Edge and the village itself is well served with pubs and restaurants in walking distance, along with the village shop next door and a beauty salon and interiors shop down the road. Parking is on the road but is never a problem to find a space and is safe. The cottage itself is small and quaint and very very cosy with comfy sofas, WiFi and a gas effect log burner. There are lots of books and games for use. The kitchen has a good selection of crockery and cooking implements, oven, microwave and toaster, plus washer and dryer which is useful for rainy days. An airfryer would be a useful addition to update. There are steep traditional cottage stairs up, which are supplemented with good handles. The two bedrooms have good storage and space. The huge bathroom has a separate shower and roll top bath. Outside there is a small courtyard with a table and chairs for a sunny morning cuppa. We visit regularly and enjoy the cosy cottage feel and the easy locality with lots to do.

The cottage was straightforward to find, and a good base for exploring Derbyshire being relatively close to all main roads.

The cottage is linked to the village shop and post office (same owners), so during extended daytime hours there is always a helping hand nearby if required. We were given a tour of the cottage and how to light the gas stove, etc, on arrival. Also a welcome pack of bread, milk and wine which was appreciated. The cottage was plenty big enough for two adults and two children. The cottage is clean and well equipped, bedding was very comfortable, shower and bath were great, plenty of hot water. We didn't find the on-road parking an issue at all. There are a number of eateries (pubs/hotel/pizzeria) within a 10 minute walk, plus a Co-op in addition to the village shop/post office. We would recommend this property and would be happy to book again.

Lovely cottage in a really excellent location to discover and enjoy the Peak District.

Lots of great walks nearby. The owners were very helpful with several different issues before, during and after the holiday. The cottage is very comfortable, but if you are self-catering for 4 people, it might be helpful to know that there is only a very small under-counter fridge (with freezer compartment), so you have to shop regularly. This is not too much of a problem, with the cottage owners' Spar next door and a Co-op down the road, but you can't stock up for the week. Also, it is a squeeze sitting 4 adults at the kitchen table - two are trapped in by the others and the kitchen units. Not ideal if you get claustrophobic. Those were minor issues though - we had a great holiday overall.
