What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Mosley - Verified booking

Railway Cottage has all the features you would want to make you feel you are staying somewhere special. We loved being right on the trail, and sitting in front the property enjoying the amazing view and now and again saying hi to passing cyclists and walkers. The interior is charming, it is equipped with every you need from cooking a 3 course family meal to an alfresco BBQ. The house is very clean and linens all freshly arranged. If you are worried about car parking, don’t, you leave the car a little away from the house but it’s only a short walk on a well gravel like path.

Lovely place in an amazing setting with beautiful views, although, the path leading to the property is part of a public footpath so be prepared for strangers passing by, more often in the summer. The house is surrounded by a low stone wall fence and a gate so is secure for small to medium size dogs. As the car park is a bit of a walk from the house, there is a trolley for your luggage which was very useful. Well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds, everything is high quality. Log burner adds to the calm and relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed our stay very much.

A beautiful cottage, very well equipped with everything you would need. Karen was very helpful. We were unlucky in that we didn’t have hot water for the first two days and although this was partly rectified the water was never hot enough, The trolley to bring our stuff in was broken so it was a difficult trek to get into the accommodation with our belongings. The bathroom was chilly as the towel rail needed bleeding. These niggles apart the cottage is beautiful and well equipped in a stunning if remote location.

We had a great week at this cottage. The facilities provided were great, and the garden is a perfect place to relax. The bed was extremely comfortable with the only major downside was the slow/weak wifi, however it depends on your situation whether this will bother you or not. Overall we had an amazing time, enjoying the scenic views and the local trails. Both the Knockerdown pub and The Miners Arms are great local pubs, however be mindful it is quite expensive with a simple pub meal coming to around £17.

Thank you for a wonderful 2 week break – the cottage is perfect, beautifully equipped & so peaceful. Wonderful walks so close and Wirksworth is a gem of a market town. The Hope & Anchor pub is dog friendly &great value. Tuesday morning is the market too! You will be spoilt for choice, but be sure to check out Bakewell, Tissington, and of course Chatsworth. If you are looking for a bigger walk Mam Tor – Lose Hill is stunning! Thank you
