What our customers say about their holidays

    • Chaminda - Verified booking

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Ty Mawr, we were the first to log in under new ownership, and I must say it was an absolutely lovely experience.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that made us feel right at home. Ty Mawr itself was very spacious (I think the pictures don’t do much justice) and newly refurbished, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, with tasteful furnishings, comfortable beds, and all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The cleanliness was impeccable, and it was clear that the owners take great pride in maintaining their property. One of the highlights of our stay was the stunning location and easy access. The holiday home was nestled amidst breathtaking Pembrokeshire, offering picturesque views, close to most amazing beaches and lush towns . It was the perfect retreat for relaxation and reconnecting with nature. We enjoyed leisurely walks in the nearby trails and spent evenings savouring the peaceful ambiance on the patio. The owner, Matthew was incredibly friendly and accommodating. He went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable and stress-free. Their recommendations for local attractions were spot-on, and we discovered some hidden gems thanks to their guidance. Overall, our stay at Ty Mawr exceeded our expectations in every way. It was a true haven of tranquillity and provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I highly recommend this holiday home to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with a touch of luxury. We can't wait to return for another memorable stay in the future! Thank you to the owners for providing such a delightful experience.

The property was warm and large enough in terms of living, sleeping and dining space, but one bathroom and toilet is not sufficient for the size of the property.

The garden isn't secure with gaps and broken panels in the fence, which would allow my small dogs to escape. The garden also had feaces in it, which made it a problem for my dogs. I had to clean them on the first day And after that I couldnt allow them to go outside without a lead. The hottub had far too much chemical in it, it made my families hands peel. The dishwasher wasn't working and the hot tap in the kitchen wasn't working well, so using the hot water from this source to wash up was a problem. We boiled the kettle each time we needed to wash up. Some of the crockery was chipped, and old. Generally the property was comfortable enough, and we enjoyed our holiday but this property needed some maintenance. It felt unloved, it needed some TLC and a spring clean. It could be a really good property with a little bit of attention and maintenance. In terms of ratings, we felt that it falls short of 4.7 out of 5, and is the most disappointing of the 4 properties we have visited from Sykes Cottages site. Some of the things I've listed in my feedback are already documented in the visitors book, and still haven't been actioned. The property location is very quite, and in that way, a good place for a relaxing break. However, within a few miles there are local facilities and access to a small town. We received some locally sourced food item's on arrival, these were appreciated.

      Lovely place to stay.

Even though this is a working farm it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Lovely large comfortable beds and plenty of comfy seating to relax in. The property was tastefully furnished and was equipped with everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was an added bonus, even though it can’t be used after 9pm, though a trellis would add a bit of extra privacy. The welcome pack of wine, delicious farm eggs and flowers was a lovely and much appreciated touch. There is plenty to do and see within short travelling distances, lots of lovely walks and superb beaches. This really is a lovely area of Wales for a holiday. Haverfordwest, which is just a short drive away from the property, has plenty of places to eat and we can thoroughly recommend the Bristol Trader. We were a party of 6 and can honestly say their Sunday lunch was the best meal we have ever eaten, though booking is advisable. We had slight difficulties accessing the property initially as the information provided by Sykes was incorrect, so recommend contacting the owners in advance. It’s also worth noting that one of the upstairs bedrooms is galleried and overlooks the main living area as this was something we hadn’t realised from the description. Overall we had a fantastic stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.

In many ways the property was excellent but there were a number of irritations and concerns.

The key safe was not where we were told that it would be. It was on a fence post thirty metres away and the number to ring for advice was no longer the current caretaker. No new number was available. The kitchen was well equipped but there were no kitchen scissors. It was good to have two high chairs but since small children are likely to wander under the huge dining table for an adventure, it would have been helpful if the underside of that table did not have wood screws projecting down an inch or so. The stairgates were badly fitted and dangerous. It would have been helpful to know that in the field adjacent to the back garden the neighbours practiced car racing of some sort. .It made the garden an unsafe place to be whilst this was happening. There was no dishcloth or dishwasher tablets and the tea-towels that were provided appeared to be unlaundered. I would not want to try and iron the enormous tablecloth that was on the dining table but it seemed that nobody else wanted to either. It looked most unsightly. I don't mind whether you publish these comments or not. It is more important to rectify the matters.

Upon arrival things looked promising, however when we entered the property one of us slipped as the floor was wet.

We did not know this because there were no signs to warn us. In the kitchen both of the sliding doors were stiff and then we couldn't lock them, when the hot tub man arrived we asked him for some help and he sorted it. There was a pile of dog hair next to the sofa in the kitchen we shouldn't of had to pick this up. We couldn't use the toaster as it didn't look in a safe condition to use and the top right oven wasn't working so we had to make do with just the one oven. We had to clean the drawers in two of the bedrooms before we could use them (one of the twin rooms and the bedroom near the games room) The mattress in this bedroom was also uncomfortable as it dips both sides, there was also brown stains on the carpet which didn't look very nice. We found socks under and behind the radiators these were not ours. We did however enjoy the games rooms which was used everyday, the only thing is that the pool table needs to be recovered.
