What our customers say about their holidays

    • Marion - Verified booking

The cottage was very isolated and quiet.

It was clean and mostly well equipped. Lots of plates, crockery etc and really good frying pans but no lidded bowls for microwave cooking that I could find. The welcome pack was very nice. The house was cosy and warm except for the shower room which was unheated. The double glazing was very effective. We were in touch with the owner about the heating and were happy with her response. Some safety issues not mentioned in the description or comments: The children’s bedroom door opens directly on to the stairs and the edge of the stairs cuts across the doorway. The doorframes on most of the doors are low, the bathroom door about 5’ 5”. My tall husband cracked his head on them a number of times leaving him bruised and bloodied. I check all photos and try not to select properties to rent with low ceilings or beams but didn’t spot the doorframes. The bath seemed deep and long but had no non slip mat or grab rails. The glimpses of the sea were lovely when the weather was kind. The beds were comfortable. The towels were a decent quality and we were advised to bring bath sheets if required.

This cottage is truly beautiful, the photos are a true representation of what you can expect.

Literally 2 minutes walk to a lovely beach, a welcoming pub & Londis supermarket & post office. You enter the property through a stable door into the inner porch straight into a really cozy front room, comfy sofas & open fire await you, the fire already set just waiting to be lit. Good size TV & video player, loads of DVDs to choose from, board games books & fresh flowers Step up to the kitchen, electric cooker & hob, toaster microwave good size fridge & freezer. Supply of tea/coffee/sugar. Milk, wine (hubby certainly enjoyed that) Deb & Ian really do welcome you to their lovely home & as somebody who loves to cook even when we are away you really can’t ask for anything, it’s all supplied. Up the staircase to 2 beautifully presented bedrooms, the back room has a door leading to the garden area, have to admit only had a peek because the weather wasn’t good whilst we were there. Deb & Ian, we can’t thank you enough, not only for letting hire your cottage but also for helping us with suggestions re: GPs/ pharmacy but for me the welcome Christmas decorations. We will be back xx

Deb and Ian were in contact right from when we booked to make sure everything was perfect for our stay .

The cottage is just lovely with everything you need and more , was so nice to go out coastal walking everyday and come back and light the open fire in the cosy lounge. The bed was really comfy , nice hot shower and the heating very quickly warmed the cottage up in the mornings . There is a garden with gorgeous summer house and a view of the sea but we didn,t spend any time out there as we spent our days on the coastal paths but would be great to sit out there in the summer with a book ! The beach ,shop and pub are 2 mins walk away and the coastal path is breath taking , a real must to blow those cobwebs away in the winter . It only takes a short walk up the hill or a stroll around the beach to reach Little Haven ( next village ) with its 3 pubs set in a pretty little cove . All in all , we are glad we booked Inglenook Cottage , we had a lovely time and were very well looked after . Thank you for the wine , chocolates and milk Deb , you really know how to make people feel at home .

Bank House Farm is surprisingly big inside, we were 3 adults so plenty of room.

The beds were comfortable but we found the lounge furniture uncomfortable, especially in the "tv room". We had a couple of issues that needed attention and they were dealt with very promptly by the owners. There could be a few more glasses, plates and dishes so that the dishwasher wouldn't need running everyday, definitely more than 5 teaspoons and lids that fit the saucepans! Although there is a big hall and good size utility room there wasn't an ideal place to hang wet jackets. The biggest downside was the old farm buildings very close to the house and blocking the lovely views out to sea, although they would protect the house from an on shore wind. There is a picnic bench but there doesn't seem to be an ideal position for it. Unfortunately we didn't have the weather to use it. It is in a windy spot and that together with the old farm buildings would prevent us from going back.

A charming old Welsh farm cottage preserved in a 'period' style.

It reminded me of my granny's home in Llanelli! That all the furniture was 'in keeping' was endearing, although the sofas are in need of a 're-foam' to restore their comfort. Delith, the owner, contacted me a few days in advance of our booking to clarify access arrangements, which was much appreciated, as was the milk, bottle of good red wine, and Welshcakes that were left for us. First question on this feedback form was: 'How likely are you to recommend us?", which, I presume relates to Sykes Holiday Cottages and NOT the property itself. I have scored this '2' only. The Sykes team was not helpful. When I was forced to amend our dates of stay, there appeared to be no way of incorporating a special offer price that had been posted in the interim as 'Computer says no.' Instead, I had to cancel and rebook, which was a pain and took numerous 'phone calls.
