We could not fault 3 Coastguard Station at all.
It is a welcoming homely property that had every amenity required. It has been a thoughtfully restored historic building that just feels fab and truly cared for by the owners. The location of the house could not be more perfect, we loved the convenience of ditching the car and being able to walk to local restaurants and the pub is just a few doors down! We adore the beach so having it literally on your doorstep is both practically and visually amazing, great for our sea dips too! The window seat in the cottage is my favourite spot, the beach and sea view was simply stunning. We have been regular visitors to Rathmullan for 14 years and when our usual holiday home was sold last year we were so sad because we didnât think we would find another to match it. Lucky for us we feel we hit the jackpot with 3 Coastguard Station and look forward to returning again soon. Separately, we would like to commend the property owner on being responsive to our queries before and during our stay. It took Sykes 2 days to respond to our initial query and by that time we had already arrived at the property. They then took another 2 days to fully answer by which time we had checked out of the property. We are lodging a separate complaint around Sykes customer services which should absolutely have no reflection on the property or owners. We paid a high rate for the property via Sykes and would expect they have high standards of customer service to match, sadly that was not our experience. It was our first time using Sykes and we would be reluctant to use them again in the future. It would be such a shame if Sykes shoddy customer service damaged business for the property, the owner's donât deserve that because the property is excellent.

Dromore Cottage is spacious and airy and set in beautiful grounds in a lovely location.
Mrs Dowd was very prompt at meeting us and showing us around the property. The use of the Aga in the kitchen was to heat water for baths and washing up and we were asked not to meddle with it. The heating was insufficient, mornings were very cold as were the end part of the evening. The beds are very uncomfortable and the duvets/covers smelt musky. The cottage smells damp as soon as you open the front door, which I imagine is due to insufficient heating. Despite our best efforts we could not find the BBQ which we were looking forward to using when we had our family come and visit. We had to settle for a take away. There are two door keys on the keyring provided. One opened the front door, the other didn't seem to fit anywhere which meant we had no way of unlocking the door to the rear of the property. We didn't need to use it in the end, however, I would suggest that this is a hazard in case of a fire in the property. There were two hand towels provided for our use in the bathroom, whilst we are not 'big' people, a hand towel is never going to be adequate for drying after a shower. We located towels in the hallway cupboard and found two slightly larger ones. The two bins in the kitchen are for clean plastic/paper and the other for metal/tin. There was no bin for food scraps or general waste. The property is lacking in maintenance and comfort. The toilet doesn't flush properly and many of the windows are locked or the handles are broken. There were no batteries in the TV remote and a couple of light fittings are missing light bulbs. Dromore has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay but needs a large dose of love and attention.

We were VERY pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Whitehorse House in Donegal.
The location is absolutely stunning, and the house takes full advantage of this - the kitchen and seating areas have massive windows, which look out onto the rolling waves of the sea, two of the four bedrooms also have excellent sea views. However, the house itself would be what we would consider a 'destination' in itself - underfloor heating throughout, large and spacious rooms, an extremely well stocked kitchen (we like to cook, and most times we hire a house, we have to bring our supplies with us - none were needed this time, everything we wanted was provided, and more). Everything supplied was of a very high quality. Very comfortable beds, plenty of extra sheets and towels there if needed, Dyson hair dryers, washer and dryer in the boiler room, lots of very cosy armchairs, a library with loads of books, open fire (which we didn't need, as the heating was on 24/7), all four bedrooms are en-suite, and tons of hot water always available, all four bedrooms also have TVs too. Upstairs there is another massive room, with a huge TV at one end, a table tennis table, snooker table, games console and a desk looking out to sea. The house was spotless when we arrived, and Anne was there to greet us and show us around - very friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for her. She also came to see us off on our last day. We were a party of six adults (and two dogs), and we stayed for seven nights, but all of us were disappointed that we had not booked for longer. If you get a chance to to to Whitehorse House - do it!! You won't regret it.

We had a FANTASTIC time.
Everything you need was in the property. It was clean and comfortable. A shame that the wood burned was out of order but the central heating worked very well. I have mobility issues, however, it was very easy to get around with my "walker" and the walk-in showers were excellent for my needs. Pub very close that serves excellent food with very friendly locals; although I couldn't get my wheelchair up the path leading back to the property, as it isn't a smooth road but we just drove down...not a big deal. We explored The Wild Atlantic way and on the days that we didn't want to venture out; just sitting looking out to that AMAZING view was enough; didn't need to go out. We went to nearby towns; took a taxi to Falcarragh one day to explore, very easy to book a taxi; we used Woods. Also took an overnight to Donegal town, which was jumping. Took a day trip to Downings where my grandfather came from, stunning. I honestly had to fight back tears when we were leaving. What a time we had. Little Buddy, the dog next door, just made it complete. Thanks SO much, we had an AWESOME time. Michelle and Chris

The cottage while dog friendly inside did not have a gate and were using bins to keep dogs in and could easily jump over them or get out between the wheels: The house while it provided everything and good location it needed windows cleaned badly and couches were not comfortable and the mattresses needed replacing on beds the springs are coming through: car parking is not good as itâs hit and miss and if your bringing luggage dogs or if you had children you have to park on double lines to get near the door:there is a lawn which could be used to make a car space and still have garden space: The slugs come in under the door at night as the back door has a space and they get in The washing machine door wouldnât open and although l rang the owner they were to get the door fixed they didnât and l didnât get a call back or any update and still didnât:had to leave the washing in it when we left While the house is a fine house itâs tired and needs a revamp and better communication:The photo advertising it is a very old one
