This was a last minute booking and I'm so glad we decided on Crooked Cottage.
It is such a charming cottage and it's obvious a lot of thought has gone into the furnishings etc. We loved the quirky features. The stairs and layout took some getting used to but that was part of the fun. The little garden was lovely. Some guests seem to have had problems with the next door neighbour but the house has a sold sign on it so think they may have moved. Just one criticism, I couldn't work out how to use the cooker, even with the instructions, and wasn't prepared to spend any more time of my holiday trying to figure it out. A simple oven with "old fashioned knobs" would have been better. Would definitely recommend it although people with mobility issues may find the stairs a bit troublesome.

Excellent holiday / break and facilities much better than we expected , one of the best we have stayed at and there have been many.
Minor points: We felt uncomfortable using the rear patio area as the next door neighbours and her dog seemed to dislike our little pet dog and holiday visitors so we did not use it ( shame as we did try and engage with her maybe having a bad day ) Accessing the key on arrival was unusual having to walk through other peoples back space and washing lines , we felt intrusive to there private space. The area and location was perfect with lots of nice walks close by and the people in the village were super friendly. Would absolutely recommend this highly as a holiday break, superb cottage.

Just returned from a lovely week away in this little cottage.
The only downside was having to leave! Perfectly situated for us on a farm, so quiet and not too many people about. Lots of lovely sheep to watch from the kitchen window. A friendly little dog Ted, visited us along with 3 beautiful cats... I was in my element with my new found friends. The owners couldnât have been more accommodating and let my partner use the barn to store his motorcycle when the weather was a little inclement. All in all a lovely location with easy access to all the seaside areas and the moors and dales. Highly recommend a visit.

We stayed for 3 nights in this lovely, comfy and cosy cottage on the outskirts of the village. Everything you need for your stay and just wished the weather could have allowed us to take advantage of the lovely outside space. Very large and comfortable bed with a stand alone shower in the bathroom below. Full sized fridge with freezer compartment, electric oven and hob and microwave, home from home. Ideally located to visit the impressive east coast villages such as Whitby and Staithes as well as the foodie towns of Malton and Helmsley.

Comfortable and well equipped cottage.
Unfortunately the water heater failed at the beginning of our stay (probably before we arrived) but was repaired the same day that we reported it so we were able to enjoy the excellent separate shower in the bathroom. Wombleton is a good base for Rievaulx Terrace and Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Helmsley, Pickering and Scarborough castles as well as the North York Moors Railway. There a handy circular walk past the pub and back down Page Lane for anyone with a dog (with 3 dog pooh bins). At dusk there are bats in Page Lane.
