If you are driving to this property, please do not make the same mistake as me, it will taint your experience. Do not attempt to drive your car to the property (particularly any car larger than a corsa, fiesta, micra etc…) Book Pete in advance he is a super friendly chap who provides an excellent service. He will deliver your luggage to the door for only £8 (subject to change) You can find him on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/1AvZjb6zrA/?mibextid=wwXIfr (+44 7810 644449). My advice to you, is park at the Millpond carpark as suggested by the host and transport your belongings via Pete. If you attempt to drive your vehicle to the property, expect to scratch both sides badly. Otherwise, the cottage is perfect, very cosy, reasonably equipped (I managed to make a full Christmas Dinner). The walk into Looe takes about 10mins (max) down hill. I guess if you struggle with steep inclines, going back to the cottage might be a challenge. Looe is a lovely place with a wonderful beach, great walking routes, friendly people and amazing pasties (try Sarah’s pasties). I will return as it’s a perfect getaway.

Loved the lightness of the cottage.
Mostly well equipped but with an emphasis on cleaning equipment? It was everywhere! I do not consider a holiday to be a holiday if cleaning is to be part of it. Of course I want my space to be nice for me to be in ⦠but two vacuum cleaners? Would far rather have had the space all that took up by having a small dishwasher. Also, the message sent by Sykes cottages on my penultimate day hoping that I had had a âfabulous stayâ was barely into the second sentence before I was being âreminded of how I should leave the cottageâ, âsafe and clean and tidyâ! I think youâre asking too much of your guests when you also insist on a 9am departure ⦠leaving 8 hours for the cottage to be prepped for the next guests. You realise that the last morning is therefore spent in a state of early packing, tidying, etc etc destroying the chance of a last lingering, enjoyable breakfast during which we could have reflected on how sad we were to leave ⦠no chance. If your reasoning is that your cleaner has to prepare all 4 cottages in that time then perhaps you should employ more cleaners.

We have stayed at No 1 Rose Cottages previously so we knew what to expect.
It had changed very little, there is pretty much everything you need and it is clean and well maintained, however the carpets could do with a thorough deep clean. There is extensive garden space at the back of the four cottages but only a small area allocated to No 1. When we stayed previously it was pleasant to sit in the garden in the early morning/late afternoon sun, however due to the growth of the hedge and a tree at the bottom of the gardens it is now in shade most of the day. There is an issue with parking. There is only supposed to be parking for 1 car per cottage, however there were already four cars when we arrived. The parking space is small, little more than a verge marked 'parking for Rose Cottages' and the lane is very narrow. We found on this stay that someone staying in one of the cottages would always be parked at an angle making it easy for them to get out, but very hard for others to park. It would really benefit from four clearly marked spaces with cottage numbers.

Pixie Cottage is a very old fishermanâs cottage and was built when people were shorter than now.
Iâm 5â 9â or 1m 75cm for those that think that way. I managed to go a whole week without banging my head on the staircase, only doing so on the last morning. For anyone taller I would just say heed the warnings or youâll collect a good few bruises. Also, you will have to crouch when using the shower as there was barely an inch or so of clearance between my head and the ceiling. Other than that the cottage is great, superbly equipped and only a short walk from the centre of Looe. However, that walk is relatively steep, especially if you opt to turn left and take the short route. You have to bear in mind that we hail from Cambridgeshire where it is relatively flat. I would say that if you have mobility issues I could not recommend staying here but if you are generally fit I would have no reservations whatsoever in saying itâs a great place to stay.

Pros The cottage is conveniently located with easy access to West and East Looe and Hannafore as well as the local Spar and 72 and 73 bus stops.
The lane is generally quiet, and we were lucky and took advantage of the free parking space opposite the cottage. The rooms are spacious and clean when we arrived. Cons The cottage still has a number of damp patches. The dining area wall is particularly damp, as well as blistering of paint from the ceiling in the main bedroom. Despite previous responses that has been fixed, there is still a great deal of damp in the cottage and so much so we could never get our clothes to dry! Whilst tastefully decorated and furnished we found the wet room difficult to use as there is only a small space near the entrance that is not wet. Also the vinyl type wet room floor kept coming away from the tiles. It would have been helpful to have a freezer (even if a small freezer compartment at the top of the fridge).
