What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Tracey Jarrett - Verified booking

This property has an amazing location and is very comfortable and well equipped however, a five star property also needs attention to detail and the quick fixing of issues/ replacement of worn and damaged fixtures and fittings. Below is a list which suggests that this attention to detail is lacking. 1. A broken blind and stool in the master bedroom. Ripped blinds in the bathroom to the master bedroom. 2. Ill - fitting and damaged carpet on the steep staircase and in the doorway of the lounge 3 several items of broken kitchen equipment - notably a cafetière, corkscrew and cup 4. A tumble drier that cannot be used without it tripping the RCD 5. A leak from one of the bathrooms in to the sitting room during our stay. This has happened before; the water damage was clearly visible in the ceiling and when I phoned your emergency number I was cheerfully told this! I hope you find this feedback useful and take it in the spirit with which it is meant - honest and candid feedback! I have no intention of posting a negative public review as despite all of this, we still had an enjoyable stay whether we will book through your company again remains to be seen.

This was a good, modern property with a lovely view across the bay and close access to the beach.

There was ample parking for two cars and was situated on a private road. It was clean, well furnished and had all the facilities needed for a great holiday, including the hot tub which could be hired at an extra cost. Our boys loved it. The welcome hamper was great and exceeded expectations. The only addition we would suggest to the facilities is that the owner provides cutlery suitable for younger children as our two found it difficult to handle the large cutlery provided and had to eat meals using a spoon! We particularly liked the idea of a report booklet so that any problems could be remedied quickly. Whilst we were there, we had problems with the DVD players not working. This was remedied promptly the next day. Thank you for the quick action. Every room in the house had a TV with DVD player attached to, I think, 3 of them. Whilst they were an asset for rainy days and allowed for different family choices of viewing, we felt that one in every room was rather over the top. Having stayed in this area of Cornwall for a good many years, we'd recommend Hagar Vor for a really good holiday.

We booked this property last minute and what an amazing hidden gem in Newlyn. First of all the house is incredibly appointed, cosy, nice crockery and wine glasses etc. The garden needs promoting more because it’s fabulous! Perfect for the dog to explore, very secure. The hot tub was brand new and the views from it across Newlyn harbour were stunning. Newlyn itself is really up and coming, with some fabulous restaurants, Argoe, the Tolcarne, and wine bar Lovetts. Aunty Mays is perfect for takeaway sandwiches. You’re also only a few minutes from the pretty town of Mousehole with the lovely Ship pub, as well as 2 Fore street restaurant. Having never stayed in Newlyn before we will definitely be back and we can only hope we can book this amazing property again. Our only comment would be the directions to the property could be a little clearer as the house is very hidden from the road and it took us a while to find it. We enjoyed the fact there was parking as this is rare in Cornwall. We hope to return to Orchard cottage again. Our best cornwall trip yet!

Orchard cottage is a beautiful period property with lovely proportions. It was perfect for our group of 2 families of four with tweens/teens. The youngsters loved the hot tub, the large TV and their equal sized bedrooms. Kitchen is beautiful and well equipped for cooking for 8. Beds are all comfy. We ate Sunday lunch at the fisherman's arms in Newlyn - food was delicious and the staff were really helpful fitting us all in. This is a great location for exploring West Cornwall. Mousehole, St Ives, Sennen, lands end, Minnack all within 20-30 mins. We particularly loved Porthkidney beach for the dogs- you can park for free near St Uny church. Gwithian towans beach is also gorgeous but dog friendly section cannot be accessed on a high tide. Nanjizal beach is really quirky with breathtaking cliff walks to access but definitely no longer a “hidden” gem! Newlyn has a lovely cinema with a bar. Penzance has a great range of useful shops and some nice independent shops too. Decent playpark for under 11s and a skate park. We would definitely love to return!

We had a lovely stay at Orchard Cottage in August 2024. We were 4 adults and 4 children and found the property very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped, and we were able to cook nice dinners in there. The rest of the cottage is decorated really nicely, and the lounge is large. We had good weather, but there are plenty of DVDs/games/books should the weather be bad. The views from the terrace are amazing, and it is nice to sit out there. The hot tub was a treat, and the children really enjoyed this. It is only 5 minutes walk into Newlyn, where you can find fresh fish, fantastic ice cream, galleries and other nice shops. The walk back up to the house is steep but not too bad. The entrance to the driveway is quite tight, but it was fantastic to have a driveway for 2 cars given the roads are all very narrow and busy. Would thoroughly recommend. Original Cottages were also very helpful and attentive to our needs.
