What our customers say about their holidays

    • Christina - Verified booking

What a lovely cottage and what a great time we had.

Six comfortable bedrooms and several lounges gave eleven of us plenty of room. We had several keen cooks in our party and the well equipped main kitchen and even a second kitchen for overspill cooking were highly rated. We knew there was a private garden over the road behind the chapel but hadn't expected it to play such a large part in our week as it did - the private full view of the beach and the sea from high on the cliff was spectacular, and we spent a lot of time over there, barbequeing (brick BBQ provided) or just sitting with drinks at the picnic tables. It's fully fenced which is great if you have a dog, just let them wander around it off lead. There's a second garden directly behind the house, the view is only of the car park, but again this is fully fenced and dog escape proof. Turn right out of the front door and you're on Nolton Haven beach in 30 metres. Good beach, and the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coastal Footpath runs from each side of it so you can walk for miles either northwards or southwards. As other people have said, the walk on the path southwards to The Druidstone Inn is well worth doing. We booked an online home delivery from Asda for our groceries. I believe Tesco will deliver to this address too. Otherwise Lidl in Haverfordwest is the nearest decent size shop, there's also Morrisons a bit further into Haverfordwest. And Aldi and Tesco although we didn't actually spot where they were. Lidl definitely the nearest. We highly recommend Hillbrook House.

We were already really excited about our stay at Hillbrook House but the listing simply doesn’t do the house or location justice.

We go away as an extended family regularly, but this was by far the best we’ve ever stayed in. The house itself it’s excellently equipped and tastefully decorated throughout. It has bags of space and several families could easily go away together without feeling cramped. The beds were comfortable, it had three bathrooms (one of which is a wet room which can be used when getting back from the beach) and even had a variety of water sports/beach equipment available to use too (wet suits and body boards as well as bucket and spades etc). The location though, is what sets this house apart from anywhere else we’ve stayed. The beach is literally 60 seconds from your door - a small cove which doesn’t get too busy and is perfect for body boarding and paddle boarding. Right next door is an excellent pub which serves lovely food - we really enjoyed the lobster from the evening menu and loaded fries over lunch. Nearby and worth a visit you have St David’s Cathedral, Tenby, Pembroke Castle and Manor Wildlife Park. This said, we’ve never spent as much time staying in and enjoying the immediate surroundings of a holiday getaway before. We would strongly recommend this house to others. In fact, for the first time, we’re considering returning again in the future. Overall an excellent host, with an excellent house in an excellent location. A huge thank you for a wonderful stay.

      A perfect family holiday.

We stayed as a family group with 6 adults, two 3 year olds and a baby. It was perfect, we had so much space and the separate annex for the baby (and her parents!) meant that the rest of us were able to get a good nights sleep. We slept really well and didn't hear any noise from the restaurant next door. The beach is practically on the door step. A really good beach too- it had stones, sand and rock pools, everything a young child could want! There were also buckets, spades, nets and other toys provided at the cottage which was great. Tons to do near by too. We went to two castles, a chocolate factory and Broad Haven which is another lovely beach near by. We also went on bike rides (although be warned it's very hilly!) and walks around the coast (without the kids as the path isn't very safe for little ones!) The outside spaces are a huge bonus too. The back garden was lovely for the kids to run around but there is also another garden across the road which has an amazing view of the beach as well as a BBQ and fire pit which we made good use of! Everything we could possibly need was provided, including cots, children's toys and the kitchen was well equipped for large groups. We did have a problem with the dishwasher but this was quickly resolved by the owner (although we did have to drive somewhere to call as you don't get a phone signal here)

Holiday home was lovely and bigger downstairs than expected.

The owners provided a lovely welcome hamper for us all which included tea, coffee sugar, biscuits, mince pies and chocolate lollipops for the 3 children. Although kitchen had everything we needed, we found there was limited workspace to prepare meals and we couldn’t plate meals up in the kitchen. The dining room table was large enough though for us to put cooked dishes straight onto the table. The annex provided a quiet haven for anyone who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of a large party. We had a party of 12 from ages 75 to 2 years old. The annex bedroom was very comfortable with a large chest of drawers and clothes rail. 5 of the bedrooms did not have wardrobes but they had hooks on the wall and clothes rails with about 6 coat hangers. In my opinion 2 of the bedrooms should not be double due to the size of the rooms. They were very cramped and some of our party struggled with their clothing. One of the bedrooms was huge and had two built in wardrobes. All of the beds were very comfortable. We were left looking after a relatives dog over ther Xmas period due to an illness in the family and the owners were very kind in allowing us to bring him as well as the 2 dogs we had booked. We had an enjoyable stay and would recommend it.
