What our customers say about their holidays

    • Cerys - Verified booking

We thoroughly enjoyed our few days at Y Felin.

Upon arrival the cottage was clean and there was tea, coffee, butter, milk, sugar and welsh cakes left for us. Chris was a lovely host, very friendly and helpful. He gave lots of suggestions on places to visit nearby. When we arrived we were surprised with runner ducks wondering and this made the experience even better. Plenty of land for the dogs to run around on. The cottage is rural but not a far walk or drive to things nearby. We had a lovely Sunday dinner just 2 minutes away and the pub was dog friendly. Most places in Fishguard and Cardigan were dog friendly to our surprise. The only reason for not giving a full score was the accuracy of the advert. We were under the impression that there was a secure field for the dogs, both dogs could get under the gate. We also didn’t realise until after booking that although it’s a dog friendly cottage the dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture or carpeted areas and that they cannot be left whilst possibly going down to the local pub for food/drink. Luckily we had taken a crate and this didn’t bother us but I think it’s worth noting in the ad (it may have been but we hadn’t noticed this until we’d been sent details after booking). Overall we enjoyed our visit very much and will definitely be recommending to others. We are hoping to return in the future. Beautiful setting and a beautiful cottage.

I am fortunate to stay in a lot of holiday cottages around Cornwall and the West Wales coast.

I can honestly say that i have now found the best i have stayed in. The location is fantastic. I have a dog, the area is dog friendly and fantastic beaches. Its own garden, off road just enough with a pub 300 yds away (colourful locals) and great food. The beach at Newport is fantastic and a 5 minute drive away. With great local shops and pubs etc. It is not a touristy place, with a very chilled vibe. Which is exactly what i want, if you want to try a busier place for the day Newquay is a short drive, or Tenby an hour. The cottage itself is fantastic, well appointed with everything you need for a week away, the decor, furnishings and kitchen etc is everything that you need. The outside, a great garden, well maintained by Chris, bbq, firepit and hot tub. Plenty of parking etc. Then last but not least, the hosts Lesley and Chris. The nicest people you will ever meet, full of information about the area and anything you may need, and nothing too much trouble. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here, it really is that good. I am already looking at weeks for next year. Neil.

Very friendly welcome and lots of local information, both in a printed book and email before the stay.

Warm and cozy cottage, even without using the wood burner. Absolutely everything seemed to be considered in the fittings and equipment. The area is interesting historically and has fantastic, easily accessible beaches, open to dogs out of peak season. There is a field next to the property ideal for exercising dogs if there are no sheep etc. Lots of delightful dog friendly pubs with good food. Only problem I had, with having quite bad arthritis at the moment, I found the internal stairs a bit of a challenge so wouldn’t recommend this particular cottage to someone with limited mobility. Having said that, I wouldn’t have missed the experience and the lovely warm hot tub amply compensated. Chris and Lesley are a lovely couple with a wealth of knowledge of the local area and life in general. We were with my son and his partner, celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary and we all (including the dogs) had a very special time.

If you desire peace and quiet avoid this property!

The proximity to the A487 was advised, however the glazing provides nominal sound proofing. The heating air source pump is internal and exceptionally loud. Thereby turning this off to sleep then means no underfloor heating and no hot water in the morning for 2-3 hours: hardly a desirable choice. The small holding element may include a local farmer covering the top field with slurry. This potential was part of our welcome narrative and fortunately did not materialise. The owners dwelling is very close and we were treated to scaffolders and roofers starting work at 8am midweek and chose to cut short our stay. For the £25 supplement for the dog you get an electronic receipt from Sykes!! (To be clear and aligned to the owner's guidance), this is not a very dog friendly property. With so many Pembrokeshire options available I urge you to look further. We made a very bad choice with Y Felin at Coed Cadw.

As a family of 4 we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely characterful cottage.

The property was very clean tidy and well maintained with a spacious private outdoor seating area with a relaxing hot tub . The hosts Chris and Lesley were very friendly welcoming people with lots of good suggestions for things to do in the local area. We were unfortunate that during our stay the weather was quite wet which left us with wet clothing and towels from the hot tub to dry. This proved quite challenging with no tumble dryer and resulted in us using the old fashioned method of drying our clothes in front of the lovely log burner. The property would definitely benefit from a tumble dryer in the winter months Having said this,it certainly wouldn’t put us off staying here again and we would definitely recommend this cottage in the future
