What our customers say about their holidays

      What a find!

We've just returned from a weeks stay at this beautiful cottage. The hosts, Ian and Jane are very friendly and helpful. They are very busy people but will always take time to answer any questions we had. The setting is fantastic with wonderful views of the Welsh countryside. There are animals on site, some rare breed Jacobs Sheep a couple of pigs and some chickens and ducks. The wildlife in the area, especially the bird life, is plentiful and is great to sit back and watch their antics on the bird table. The River Cain runs through the site and I was lucky enough to catch my first ever Grayling along with 2 trout and lots of minnows. The cottage is spotless and has everything you might need, or want, for your stay. There is a small shop onsite selling their own bacon, sausages and eggs. Some other basics are available. As well as the cottage there is also a Tepee and a Yurt, a Cabin and 2 pitches for tents. Across the road there are a number of tent pitches for wild camping. 3 pubs in the nearest village, a Spar and a Morrisons petrol station/supermarket. There is also a café, a chippy and an Indian. Easy travelling to various points of interest in the area. Will we be back? Absolutely. Cannot recommend The Old Beams at Pont-Y-Forwyn highly enough. Thank you Ian and Jane for a very relaxing stay.

Absolutely amazing. I am tempted to give Camlad Barn a poor review, only in the hope others don’t book and it is more available for my wife and I to return but that would be unfair and selfish. The setting of the property is outstanding with amazing views. It was immaculately clean and is equipped with everything that you would need. A large outdoor area to relax in with a lovely enclosed garden, pretty sitting area, separate allocated parking and hot tub which again, was immaculate and cleaned daily. The inside of the property is both spacious and very stylishly decorated and furnished. All the staff we came in contact with were incredibly friendly and gave excellent advise of local places to visit of which are many. If you want a fast paced, stressed, busy holiday with lots of people, vehicles and buildings this is not for you. If you want the absolute opposite, it is perfect. I can not recommend Camlad Barn enough and we cannot wait to go back. Oh, our 14 year old collie absolutely loved it as well.

What a beautiful cottage Camlad Barn is. So well equipped as well. Everything we needed was there. Nice little touch of hair dryers and torches in every bedroom. The amazing hot tub is one of the highlights of the property and is checked daily by one of the team. The location is just stunning and so quiet and relaxing. So much wildlife surrounds you! If you want some time away from busy fast paced life you should definitely give Camlad Barn a visit. We loved the local Miners Arm for pizza night as well. Definitely need a car to get around if you have limited mobility but beautiful walks in the surrounding areas and local Marington Estate. Our dog loved his time away with us and it was brilliant that he could come with us and enjoy the wonderful enclosed garden.

      A mixed review from us.

The barn, the view, the cleanliness and equipment provided were absolutely excellent! The hot tub was a lovely bonus! However, there are some negatives from our experience. The flies in the house were an absolute nuisance! Despite keeping everything crumb free they were still everywhere! I know it is near farmland, etc. But it was still not nice. The other negative is how the patio seating area has been done. There is a fence between the next rental barn but if both families are enjoying the seating or hot tub there is very little privacy and if you are unlucky enough to get loud neighbours it isn’t pleasant sharing a small space. Sorry for the negatives because overall we had a fantastic and relaxing time and the barn is stunning.

What a fabulous place this is.

So beautifully done, nicely furnished and tasteful decor. The underfloor heating, for those not lucky enough to have it in their own home, is such a luxury and meant the barn was comfortably warm all the time. The hot tub really sold it to us, sitting out under the stars contemplating the universe - what a way to spend an evening. You can’t beat it. Time to put those phones away and actually chat to those around you! It is set in a remote location but that makes this even more special. The neighbours are sheep, pretty much in every direction. The bleat of the lambs carrying over the valley. If you’re after somewhere to totally kick back and relax, this is it - we’ve had a wonderful time and would thoroughly recommend it.
