    • Guests' Review On TripAdvisor - Verified booking

A beautifully presented and lovingly furnished country gem, situated near to Salisbury and the historic Stone Henge.

Cosy Cot provided a fantastic getaway for myself, my husband and 3 other friends (all 30+). The cottage itself is the perfect size for 5-6 adults or 4 adults and 2 kids- the only drawback is there is only 1 bathroom so you do have to juggle a little in the mornings! Having said that, the bathroom is quite large and well equipped, with a nice sized shower and bath. Bedrooms are also ample and the living room and dining room are comfortable and plenty big enough to accommodate this number of guests. The vaulted ceiling and show piece chandelier in the dining area were spectacular. The log burning hearth is a nice touch and the owners supply a small amount of logs to use here if you so wish. There is also a nice sized garden area, though it was too cold for us to use this! An addition of a hot tub would make this the actual dream! The kitchen is well equipped and I was impressed to see matching table wear (this never happens in holiday rentals!) It was also useful to have a dishwasher and the range cooker was stunning (although some instructions for this would be useful and we couldn't find any induction pans). The kitchen was well stocked with condiments and cleaning supplies. The under floor heating was an absolute luxury that we all loved, and there is also heating for upstairs - just take care to ensure this temp is turned up high enough during the day or the evenings can get a bit nippy. When we arrived the cottage was beautifully clean and tidy and it really is a chocolate box, picturesque treat, right in the countryside. For those interested, it's also right next to a Pokestop! Parking isn't ideal (you park just down the road) but there is plenty of space and because it's so quiet in the area, it isn't really too much of a problem. There are also a few pubs nearby, so if you fancy a walk for food you wouldn't have too far to go. There is a nice little farm shop about a 3 minute drive away too, which also serves breakfast and lunch (and the meals were lovely). It's also not too far from Salisbury, where you have literally hundreds of places to choose from to eat in, and plenty of really nice pubs, ranging from the contemporary to your more traditional British. Overall, a brilliant place to stay at a very competitive price for the quality of accommodation that you experience.

The cottage is beautiful and reasonably well equipped and would have been a perfect place to relax.

The heating or lack of it and the lack of hot water due to boiler failure was inexcusable especially as the owner claims she was there in the morning of our stay. The shower head needed changing because of the build up of limescale and we could not wash or shower for the whole 7 days. Rather than coming out to visit the property to help us out the owner sent the plumber 4 times to keep trying to fix the issue. We then had the plumber for 4 days whilst trying to relax. If this happened to my house that I rent out I would be mortified but the owner kept needing to be chased during the holiday and to be honest we felt wasn't really that interested by the fact that she didn't come out to inspect the issue. At the end of the day, I would have refunded 100% as the holiday was not as described due to the lack of relaxing. I would have accepted 50% as a reasonable offer for the complete disastrous holiday. Instead a derisory sum of £200 taken off. The result of this is one disgruntled customer who now feels leaving a bad review for the property. If only the owner would understand the problems that were of her making and the lack of understanding since to her customer

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Foxes Earth.

The property was spotlessly clean and has all the mod cons you need to make your stay more comfortable. The owner popped over to make sure we had everything we needed within 10 minutes of us arriving and if we needed anything we could just knock on their door and ask which was lovely. There was a delightful welcoming pack which consisted of a bottle of wine, some beer, chocolate and biscuits. There were also some dog treats for our dog. We made full use of the decking area when the weather allowed us to. I did think by looking at the pictures that we had access to the garden for our dog but it is just the decking area but this was completely my misunderstanding. There is an open space area where you park your car for your dogs to go outside which is completely enclosed and adequate. We went on lots of walks from the property itself and also went further afield in the car and on returning from our walks we used to walk down to the pub for a tipple or two which was great. This is a great place to stay with everything you could wish for in a wonderful area of the New Forest. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

      Loved the cottage, very comfortable.

Loved the peace and quiet of the village. Husband, ex postie even managed to chat with a local, also a postal worker!. Rather a short break so not much time to assess. One or two small things, it was very warm downstairs, no notes on turning down the heating, although we had 2 small children so it was good for them. They loved the warm floor! We did not use the cooker, only the microwave. We couldn't find any instructions and it was not a model were are familiar with. The wood fire, the same, although I would be wary of using it with small children around, and it wasn't needed this time. We would like to come back for a longer visit, but won't be eating out every day like this time, so the oven instructions would be useful. Elder daughter in the small bedroom failed to find the duvet, tucked under the pillows like a hotel does, until she stripped the bed on the last day. We had a few stubbed toes on the step down to the dining room, but we eventually got used to it and nothing broken.

A lovely accommodation, which we found extremely well presented throughout.

A warm welcome from Kim & Chris along with a handy welcome pack including a bottle of wine and 2 beers!. Very quiet location, which we found ideally situated for our daily excursions. A local pub only 3 doors away was most welcome on our first evening after a torturous journey took longer than expected. The 2 bedrooms are light and airy with 2 big Velux windows. During our stay the blinds were waiting to be fitted. The information pack would benefit from some places of interest to visit or recommended restaurants/pubs. We found The Royal Oak at Fritham (15 mins drive) excellent. Serving a variety of amazing Ploughman’s lunches and a very reasonable price. Also on a wet day we discovered The Buckler’s Hard Museum & Historical Village. Excellent.
