What our customers say about their holidays

    • Susan - Verified booking

      The house was lovely.

But this is the first Sykes property l have not been fully pleased with. Overall it was clean but the windows are grubby, the toilet door in the main bathroom didn’t lock. The toilet seat was loose too. The hand shower in main bathroom hose covering coming off. Only one bed side table in bedroom with double bed. A shelf which is in an odd place was this to replace the bedside table? No proper measuring jug the one there no markings on or scales to weigh food with. No large tin to cook in. The oven sides keep filling off when you pull the tray out. The electric tripping out which l understand from the gardener happens due to changeover to another power station. The instructions to getting in garage not clear. Took us 20 min to find how to get in. Information folder not that informative. Have usually got info of attractions about where your staying and it’s places of interest. The church there is full of history well worth a visit like the little stall with fresh produce on. Have left leaflets of attractions in it for other people staying. The step for the trampoline turned up while we were there. I hope it has been put on. The garden is lovely to sit in of an evening and enjoy the sun going down. Some will say l am being picking but l have stayed in lovely maintained Sykes properties. This place needs a little TLC and l and my family would return.

The Stables was a great location for our young family.

Our sons loved being able to run outdoors and see all the farm animals. Tom and Rose were most welcoming and helpful. They have a great set up and The Stables is a very comfortable and well equipped place. We cooked and ate at The Stables each day and there was everything needed in the kitchen to facilitate that. The living/dining room area was light and spacious. The bathroom was large and had a separate bath and shower. The bedrooms were large and storage space for clothes generous. The beds were comfortable and very clean. We were very comfortable in the setting overall as it had everything we needed. Games, books and dvds were an added bonus. It was lovely to have fresh eggs and milk in the kitchen upon arrival and the milkman delivery facility available during our stay. We were secluded enough to not hear any noise other than the farm animals which we loved. We really relaxed and enjoyed family time during the week; cycling in the area and visiting local areas and even did a spot of shopping at Clark's Village outlet which is not far. There are local farms down the road that have strawberries, eggs, bread and cider available on 'honesty box' system. This place is highly recommended for all the right reasons.

We really enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Chalet.

The Chalet was as described and has all you need for a comfortable stay. We arrived on time after a long drive and we were grateful to find a very generous welcome pack. The Chalet is in a very secluded and quiet area, yet is on the edge of town and close to all road links, particularly the M5. We met the lovely owners John and Linda who are just the nicest people, helpful and knowledgeable if you need information on places to visit or eat. John sent me a pre-arrival email, which really tells you everything you need to know about your stay, I found this very useful. John has a large collection of DVDs, in the games room next to the Chalet and has listed them in the email. For the beach lovers, Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare are within easy reach, as are towns for shopping sightseeing and eating. A Cider Farm with a Farm Shop and restaurant is literally round the corner. We were out every day visiting towns and markets, some sunny days, some, not so. A must is to visit the Cheddar Gorge and the village and shops there. Barry & Sue.

The house was immaculately clean when we arrived - thank you to Angie, the housekeeper.

The fresh flowers, port and chocolates were a lovely welcoming gift as well. This is more a cherished home than a holiday let. All of the furnishings and artwork have been lovingly chosen to enhance the historical features of the house and there is every modern comfort that you could wish for. The kitchen is very well equipped and the super king sized bed was so comfortable. We were half expecting the house to be a little chilly, considering its great age and the size of the rooms, but the heating was very efficient and there was always plenty of hot water. We lit the log burner every evening and we were very cosy - there is also a plentiful supply of logs. If you are looking for peace and quiet this is an ideal location. Apart from the rooks nest building and visits from Clare's flock of sheep in the orchard there was no other noise. Absolute bliss. This is an exceptional property - the best we've stayed in - and we booked a return visit for the autumn as soon as we were home. Many thanks to the owners for a very special stay.

The welcome at Wisteria Chalet was superb!

Linda and John did everything to make our arrival completely without stress. We could settle in with a cup of tea (everything provided!) a cream tea (everything provided), plus bread, butter jams ...everything so that we could stay in the chalet for 24 hours without venturing out for basics. There is nothing to criticise and everything to praise. We have NEVER been to a self-catering accomodation where the provision of household items, has been unstinting, thoughtful, generous and PERFECT!!! We will return...again and again, for our holiday was brilliant...made so by our ergonomic environment, geographical environment, and the atmosphere of respect, cordiality and warmth which surpassed any expectations we might have had. I would recommend this Wisteria Chalet experience to everyone...but not too many please as we want some space for our next visit. On a sour note. We were not impressed at having to pay a 'booking fee', when I am certain that owners of properties also have to pay a premium to be listed? Shame on you Sykes!
