The cottage itself was really quite nice in appearance and cleanliness.
What really let it down was the fact the most important things involving sleeping and personal hygiene were a complete failure. The double bed was a poor quality basic bed which had been easily broken by previous guests a year ago. It was mended using pieces of wood and screws making it look unprofessional in quality. Also there was the likelihood it could be easily broken again with rough activity. The mattress was made of a poor quality memory foam which made it impossible to either get a good nights sleep or to turn over without the bed squeaking and creaking or myself or my wife disturbing each other as the bed sagged rather badly in the middle under our combined weight of 31 stone. Furthermore, being elderly, I am 72 and my wife will soon be 70, we were unable to bath, shower and fulfil basic levels of cleanliness only with extreme difficulty. On the one occasion I tried to have a bath, my wife took about half an hour to get me out. My legs could not allow me to stand up as my feet could not get a grip on the wet and slippery plastic base of the bath, there were no handles to hold on to support my weight and I kept on slipping down. Neither of us wanted to repeat this terrifying experience! The hand held shower mixer was useless as the hot water which had very little pressure was quickly nullified by the overpowering pressure of the cold water, making it impossible to mix the two as soon as the unit was raised above the level of the bottom of the hot water tank. All the windows apart from the front bedroom we were unable to open, until unlocked by the owner.

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine among many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while.

Molly's Cottage is a small terraced old miners cottage within easy walking distance of the central square in St Just.
The cottage was sparklingly clean and warm and cosy. The lounge/diner is small but cosy. The TV is ridiculously small. The kitchen is compact but very well equipped - and the fridge is a fridge with an icebox (not a fridge freezer). The washing machine works well and there's both a line outside and an airer for when it rains. The yard at the back catches afternoon sun and has a picnic table. Both bedrooms are a good size with excellent storage space. The electric shower is good and the slightly shorter than normal length bath is deep. There is no wifi at Molly's Cottage, but we had an excellent 4G signal with Vodafone. We had a minor problem with the shower leaking, but house keeping resolved it on the same day that we reported it (and the lockbox for the keys meant that we didn't have to stay in for it to be fixed). Details on how to recycle do need to be updated on the house manual and both the kitchen and the bathroom would benefit from extractor fans - it was relatively warm and dry when we stayed, so opening a window wasn't a problem. Finally, the street is narrow and parking is difficult as there are more houses than parking spaces. We managed to park outside on Friday - handy for packing the car on Saturday morning, but you should expect to park your car in St Just's free car park.

Pendeen Watch is a beautifully appointed and well equipped cottage. Back patio area has gorgeous sea view. All the kit you may require from coffee machine, air fryer, dishwasher to washing machine and dryer. Little touches like the laundry basket and shower mat were appreciated. Great kitchen, comfortable lounge and upstairs is so light and airy. The extra starter basics were provided washing up liquid, teabags, coffee, sugar, tin foil, clingfilm - all of which make landing there so much easier. We liked the eco-friendly approach to all elements of cottage management from air heat pump central heating to waste recycling. The automatic lights were excellent pointing the way down the path to and over the front door like the Billie Jean video - made us feel safe and thought about as clients. Keysafes are always a winner. Then finally the welcome card, fresh milk and a bottle of wine - just, thank you!

The parking is an absolute nightmare and as such had a very negative effect on our holiday.
To have a 80% of a parking spot we had to be back in the property by 4.30 and darenât go out again. The information states there is a large free car park in the town, some 10-15 minutes away BUT seems not to know that this car park is constantly full. We have friends in St. Just and they tell us some of this is due to people holidaying on the Scilly Isles park their cars in St. Just because it is free whilst the charges at the airport are very high. Also the narrow streets of the former miners cottages do not have on site parking, many of the roads have double yellow lines and so the residents also use this car park for overnight parking. The cottage itself was charming and furnished to a very good standard with good quality fittings but because of the parking difficulty we would not consider it again.
