What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Strawbridge - Verified booking

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine among many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while.

The cottage is quite dark inside, could do with a sign saying mind your head on the front door as it is low and we both banged our head on the door and stairs several times The farm yard in full of derelict buildings and doesn’t look good on arrival Would not be safe for younger children , But having said that we had a lovely holiday ,ideally situated from all the places we wanted to go The cottage was comfortable ,bedding clean One thing I will say is the cottage was in desperate need of a new toilet seat Although it was clean it was all stained and looked mouldy I cleaned it myself when I got there and it didn’t look any better Although the owners were there we never met them they never came to introduce themselves or ask if everything was ok This was the cheapest cottage by far we have stayed in so I knew it had something wrong with it

The cottage is situated in a perfect area for walking, lots of walks to choose from and the buses were regular and just down the road. The Cottage was warm and the beds were very comfortable and the water was always lovely and hot. To make the stay more customer friendly the information pack needs to be kept up to date as it is way out of date, including the bus time table which should have been changed in September and the wi-fi codes as there were two different codes in the pack! The parking spot really is not big enough , even for a small car. My small Audi could not fit in as the back end would have stuck out into the road, on a bend! so really it should not be advertised as parking for a small car ... a Fiat 500 maybe or a Smart car would fit, nothing bigger.

The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the cottage was lovely.

The bathroom was a good size though there was a small leak coming from the pipework connecting the taps to the sink. There were great views of the sea from the bedroom windows and the bed was amazingly comfortable. Loads of storage too. A really cute cottage and nice to have the welcome pack of milk, scones, jam and cream. Much appreciated. Lots of areas to sit outside at the front and good to have parking. As others reviews have mentioned it's quite difficult pulling out on to the road as you can't see what's coming. The bus stop is just across the road. Pendeen is very small and quiet but has all you need and was exactly what we were looking for. Great location for walking SW coast path. We had a lovely stay and couldn't fault the cottage.

Second visit to this fabulously cosy cottage. Super warm without having to use the upstairs radiators as new log burner worked a treat. Cottage contains all you would need for cooking or baking and facilities for evenings enjoyed catching up on films etc, or playing cards and board games. If you enjoy walking, don't look for another place to stay; lots of places accessible without using the car. The coastal walks are stunning in any weather. Do walk to the dog friendly Geevor Mine café, for a fabulous choice of breakfasts and lunches, and The Queen's arms is 2 minutes on foot for a friendly welcoming meal or quiz night on Thursdays. We highly recommend a stay at Crown Mine Cottage and will be back to stay soon. Thank you for sharing it.
