What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs King - Verified booking

Vine Cottage is just what we hoped it would be. It’s large enough for all eleven of us ( eight adults, two children and a baby) plus two Labradors, to be together. Both the house and the garden are well equipped. We loved the hot tub. In the house we really appreciated having two fully equipped kitchens, including two fridge freezers and two dishwashers. The dining area was big enough for us all to eat together. There are two sitting rooms so one turned into a play room. The bedrooms were clean and attractive. The beds were comfortable. A great advantage, because of the children and dogs, was that upstairs is accessed by stairs with doors that can be closed. It’s just a stone’s throw from beautiful Walberswick beach, with its crabbing bridges. On the green there is a small play park for the little ones and several shops just a stroll away. We ate at The Anchor and the cafe, which were both enjoyable. A high spot was the ferry across the river to Southwold where we ate at the Harbour Inn and strolled into the town, returning along the beach. We thoroughly recommend Vine Cottage for a delightful break.

My family of 4 (2 kids - 7 and 4) stayed for the week at Little Owl. Minutes from the shingle beach at Shingle Street the location is ideal to explore the area. The farm house was just great for us overlooking horses running in the paddock. Was hard to drag the kids from the well stocked games room (pool, table football, games, and even a drum set) to actually spend time exploring the area. When the swimming pool is reopened it will be even better! We spent the week flying kites, searching for amber on the shingle beach, horse riding at the nearby stables, crabbing at Bawdsey, looking for UFOs while walking Rendlesham Forest, and hunting for Easter Eggs at the newly reopened Sutton Hoo. The hosts couldn't have been friendlier and we felt very welcomed and we will be back. Date of arrival - April 15, 2019

If you’re looking for comfort, peace and quiet and the best views then this is the place for you! This place has it all, it was spotlessly clean, there was fabulous bedding with the comfiest mattresses, super soft towels and the best equipped kitchen I’ve ever come across in a rental! On site is a plunge pool which we didn’t use but we made good use of the barn area when it rained and played table tennis, table football and pool, there were also various board games as well! We saw owls and marsh harriers and spent a lot of time watching nesting birds feeding their chicks. I simply cannot recommend this place enough, it was so quiet and peaceful, just what was needed after a stressful few months.

No central heating boiler for the old part of the house, and the weather was unseasonably cold. Lots of bed spaces but - honestly - the price was about 25% too high for the quality of the offer (e.g. mattresses, furniture, bedding, decor) even allowing for half term. Very well equipped kitchen but table- and cooking-equipment was not evenly distributed between the two kitchens which made for lots of walking. Lots of towels, which was welcome. Lovely location. Nice garden. Contribution of Original Cottages is not measurable or relevant - the booking was made with Suffolk Secrets.

This is a fantastic property in the centre of a beautiful village in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Lovely views to the river and across to Orford Ness from the upstairs balcony, well equipped kitchen and hot tub. Perfect location for walks directly from the cottage, 2 minutes walk from the shop, bakers, butchers and pubs/restaurants. and also the castle. Also a short drive to plenty of other local sights such as Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge, Aldeburgh etc.. Was a lovely relaxing stay and would recommend.
