What our customers say about their holidays

    • S - Verified booking

Stables Cottage is one of the best equipped cottages that we have come across.

It's in an excellent location, being surrounded by woods, fields and a beautiful paddock area with nearby stream. It has lovely sitting-out areas, with enough outdoor seats for 12 people! Whilst it's very near the owner's house, it is completely on its own with almost no traffic noise or other distractions. From the lounge area we could see only fields and trees, and one visiting fox.Facilities are first class, with everything you might need. The bedrooms and kitchen / diner are a bit on the small side, but the living room is excellent with lovely views on two side through enormous floor to ceiling windows. There is a good barbecue and fire pit outside, but no tools so you should bring your own if you want to sample the outdoor life. We only met the owner - Jo - for a short space of time - due to the current restrictions on contact, but she made sure we were OK and she could be easily contacted if we'd needed any help (we didn't). The televisions come equipped with Netflix and Amazon Prime - which gives plenty of viewing choice, and you can also stream content from your mobile device if you wish. There is also excellent WI-FI. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well sanitised - even the bedroom pillows are changed and cleaned every week - no need to take your own. We thoroughly recommend this lovely cottage.

      Perfect dog friendly holiday cottage.

Fully enclosed garden which isn't overlooked and has lovely clear views of the surrounding countryside. Fab outdoor seating where you can watch geese, ducks and the occasional heron passing over. Welcoming gifts included milk, beer and chocolates which were very much appreciated. The place was so well stocked, we had everything we needed for the week. The bedrooms were a good size, and the living room with the dual aspect windows was a nice place to sit and read. The shower was perfect - I wish I had that sort of water pressure at home. The cottage is great for exploring the surrounding Shropshire area - we recommend spending a day at Hawkston Park Follies which is less than 15 mins away by car. Ironbridge, Shrewsbury, and Telford are all just a short drive away. Carding Mill Valley & the Long Mynd is less than 30mins drive away, perfect for a long hike in the hills (and to see the waterfall) - there are loads of National Trust estates nearby too, including Attingham Park which has great dog walks, a nice cafe and a well stocked (and extremely well priced) secondhand bookshop. Mike was so friendly and even sent some belongings home for us after we forgot them! We only wish we could've stayed longer - so will book two weeks next year for sure!

The stables is an oasis of calm.

Beautiful and superbly equipped accommodation with a home from home feel. Great welcome pack, much appreciated! Love the decking lights. Mick is without doubt the friendliest most approachable and pleasant host I have ever met. He is just over the lane should you need him. Garden is large and secure for dogs with direct access to the paddock which has the river Strine running past - bit wet due to recent awful weather but still a brilliant addition to the property. There is a peaceful stroll along the lane past the gorgeous properties and another lovely walk along the lane up to the forest school, past the 'lake' and the plantation - it's very quiet and a straight single track road. If you are looking for somewhere to relax and unwind with great accommodation in a secluded setting where all you can hear is the birds, this is the perfect place. We were blessed with gorgeous spring sunshine for most of our week so made use of the decking and the array of outdoor seating. My senior dog had a great time mooching and sniffing around the lanes and the land, watching the ducks, geese and buzzard fly over then basking in the sunshine. Perfect holiday for both of us.

This was one of the best equipped cottages we have ever stayed in!

Everything was thought of and the furnishings and fittings were all of high standard. We chose The Stables because it looked very nice in the photos (I always check how comfy a sofa looks!) and for the private 2 acre field for our reactive dog (who hates other dogs) so it was blissful to let her charge around without it and we didn't need to walk her elsewhere for fear of bumping into other dog walkers. Sitting on the sofa looking out of the sliding doorways onto the patios and the field was just as lovely and relaxing in the rain as in the sun when we had the doors all slid open and the sun pouring in. What a lovely, lovely place to relax. My most important criteria is a comfy sofa and we barely left this one, where we snoozed and read. The beds were really comfy too. Lots of loungers and outside seating, plus a fire pit and a very smart BBQ and I think this would be a lovely place to stay in the warmer months. I would definitely return. Excellent in every way.

      Mick was very welcoming.

Nothing was too much trouble. Absolutely amazing place to stay. Beautiful area very very quiet with the private road hardly any cars come down the road. The paddock for the dog was just outstanding. Our dog ran for hours and slept peacefully all night. Lovely added addition of the fans in the ceilings for hot days. They are very quiet and really cool you down. The windows open in the bedrooms so no rain can get in but plenty of fresh air on hot summer nights. The garden is very large and even without the paddock was secure for our dog to run free. The cottage is very well equipped and Mick has done a wonderful job of making sure he’s covered everything to ensure you have a fabulous holiday. He left us alone after the greeting to enjoy the cottage in privacy. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend to anybody who has a dog. FABULOUS - Thank you Mick we will be returning.
