A beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting!

Book this - you will not be disappointed. The house was spacious, bright, modern and very clean. The host was superb and had thought of everything we needed- including all kitchen utensils. She was very easy to contact and made sure we had everything we needed. Each room was very clean and tastefully decorated with very comfy beds, linen and towels. There was an en-suite to the master with a large walk in shower with excellent water pressure. The main bathroom had a bath tub and shower as well. The house was very warm and cosy and a fan was also provided. There was lots of natural light throughout the property helped in by three large bi fold doors which spanned the open plan living/dining area. This made the whole property feel sunny and spacious as well as providing stunning views of the fields which wrapped around the property. There was also a outdoor furniture including dining table with parasol and a bbq. It was lovely to have our breakfast outside over looking the fields. The setting was very clam and relaxing. Everything has been very well maintained and the property felt new. A great place to enjoy the many attractions in the area....We visited Stonehenge, Weymouth beach and Charmouth to go fossill hunting which were all within an hour's drive. The accommodation provided a great base from which to explore these places. There is a supply shop a few minutes drive from the house with fresh bread as well as a Londis Petrol shed/Macdonalds/Costa within 10 mins drive. We are a family of six including 2 children and grandparents and this was certainly a great place to enjoy with the family. Thank you for a lovely stay - we will be back !

My family and I stayed at the Milking Barn for a week at the beginning of August, after months of not leaving the home due to lockdown it was just what we needed.

The accommodation is spotless, has everything you need for a perfect staycation and the host Ashley couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable and if ever we needed anything he would provide it straight away. There are only 2 other holiday lets onsite, so it is quiet and very peaceful- we actually only ever saw Ashley coming and going about his day. On the last day be bought some steak from his farm and had a BBQ, it was delicious! Ashley also provided us with a large basket of wood and every night we would light a fire and play card games. Placed on a working farm, there are plenty of fields and walks within the area to explore. The nearest supermarkets are a 5 minute drive in each direction and the High St and local town centre with shops & restaurants are also very close by, there are also Cider and a Buffalo farm a short drive away where you can purchase local produce. There are many beaches and sightseeing spots all within a 45 minute drive. We visited, The Tor at Glastonbury, The Cheddar Gorge and went shopping at Clark’s village. We also went to West Bay, Lyme Regis, Charmouth, Weymouth Bay, Portland Bill as well as Durdle Door and Ludworth Cove beaches where the boys were able to hire kayaks, paddle boards and pedalos. Again these were all with 45 minutes drive from the accommodation. I can’t recommend the Milking barn enough, the location is perfect to feel you are away from the hustle and bustle of the city but it is close enough to seek adventure! Thank you Ashley!

The accommodation, garden and setting was lovely and I would recommend staying here.

I only have three small niggles, which have been commented about by others who have stayed before us. if the owners rectified these it would only make the holiday experience in their lodge even better. The showers did require a hand rail, especially the en-suite walk in one which can be used and appreciated by a disabled person. The addition of a DVD player in the living room, to give extra choice on a dark wet evening. The side gate to keep children and pets safe within the back garden is I understand a newish and appreciated addition. With keeping dogs safe in mind though, the front gate and hedge and side fence between the two properties does need wire being added. A smaller dog can easily get through and wonder. This is a worry when getting dogs in and out of a car, and one does not want to have to keep putting them on a lead, or having to check where they are all the time whilst unpacking on arrival or repacking on departure. This is the second time I have used Sykes cottages and have found them very efficient and helpful and reasonably priced.

      What a lovely place!

! This new [ well a year old] traditional looking home is just wonderful. It may look like a log cabin on the outside but the inside is beautifully and tastefully appointed in the most modern style [Shiona obviously has an eye for these things]! It was a home from home with everything you could need for a lovely holiday. The weather was scorching and having the bi-fold doors in the family room made it easy to be out on the patio - where there was a table, chairs and parasol - plus a BBQ for al fresco dining. The master bedroom had doors onto the patio too - and we slept with them open, it was so hot. The lodge is ideally placed for visiting South Somerset and Dorset. We visited the Yeovil Show - great fun, the heritage railway there, Weymouth [ twice], Bovington tank museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Haynes car museum - plus Wookey Hole and Street [the Clarkes Outlet Village]. We loved watching the planes from Yeovilton - and counted the helicopters coming home every evening! A great holiday - thank you!

We had a fabulous week at Rectory Farm Lodge, the owner Shiona came to say hello soon after we arrived and then left us to enjoy our holiday but on hand if we needed anything.

Accomodation exceeded our expectations, photos do not do it justice. Very clean, very comfortable and everything you could possibly need. We all slept very well dispite the heatwave of 31 degres!. We spent lots of time just sitting reading on the patio and enjoy the lovely views over the fields, very peaceful and relaxing. Safe and secure garden for our mini yorkshire terrier who enjoyed laying under the bushes in the shade to keep cool. Local recreational ground 5min walk away where she was able to run off her lead. We visited Cheddar, Wells and Street shopping outlet all in easy reach. Lots of lovely local farm shops and friendly pubs close by. High chair and nice big travel cot provided. We highly recommend the Rectory Lodge and will certainly being staying again in the future. Thank you so much for a fabulous holiday
