What our customers say about their holidays

    • John - Verified booking

The cottage was clean and tidy on arrival, disappointing there was no welcome pack of any sort, very minimal (next to nothing) in terms of cleaning materials and a part used toilet roll.

. The cottage smelt "damp" like it needed to be aired - I wonder when it was used before our visit. After day 1 we realised the sign in the toilet about not flushing anything other than 1's, 2's and associated toilet paper was correct but not enough! The smell from the toilet filled the bathroom and front bedroom and at first it wasn't apparent as it smelled more like sick than a toilet smell. I messaged the local contact who came to the cottage to tell me she couldn't smell anything and the exterior pipes had been flushed 5 weeks ago so no issues remained, I asked her to check with the owner about a plumber but also bring some bleach etc. I was told also that the smell was the room diffuser we had gone to buy! Anyway I had a idea to fill the bath and sink and flush the toilet at the same time as draining the bath and watched as the non-existent issue came into the outside manhole - safe to say there was a lot of it - and more than the 3 days we had been there! I had emailed Sykes in the meantime and they had comeback to me to say the owner was sending a plumber - I relayed the message about my apparent fix and we heard nothing more after I said we had the key with us (so not in the key safe) From day 4 onwards we filled the bath daily and drained it and this reduced the smell to liveable but overall this issue reflected the TLC and care the property needs from the owner and local representative. The decoration is tired and you can see the difference even from the exterior of the cottage compared to the neighbouring ones.

We stayed in Wedge Cottage for a family holiday and were very impressed with the location and quality of accommodation. We are regular visitors to Polzeath and Roserrow is a great base. It is an easy 15 min walk to and from Polzeath beach and a similar walk to the Rock shops for fishmonger/bakery/butcher/Spar. The golf course and leisure centre are only a few minutes walk away. The house itself is in a pretty semi-circular mews with parking directly outside. The cottage has been tastefully decorated and is in very good condition. The beds were really comfortable and all with crisp white linen. There was everything we wanted in the kitchen with plenty of crockery/cutlery etc and all the equipment you would need. The garden is fenced so secure if you have small children. The shed in the garden was a god-send for storing surfboards/wetsuits etc. We were lucky with the weather and able to have a bbq (supplied) and eat outside. There was a good welcome pack on arrival with tea, coffee, milk, bread, butter, cake along with bin bags, dishwasher tablets and washing up paraphernalia. We will definitely be back!!

This Was our Second visit to primrose cottage as we stayed last year & hence we booked again for this year and for longer.

How ever this year was extremely disappointing it was very clear that it hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time pots and pans were dirty so had to wash up soon as we arrived the bathroom wasn't clean the toilet overflow wouldn't stop flushing, Had to fix that. The shower raiser rail was broken and shower kept going from warm to scolding hot to freezing cold & there for not useable as was dangerous. The drains are clearly blocked as well as it kept backing up to the bath. we went on holiday to relax after a stressful first half of the year with one of us under going cancer treatment & didn't need added stress of cleaning the accommodation on arrival when we pay a surcharge of £100 for this to be done we are very disappointed after the amount of money its cost to stay & are considering looking into the complaints department its a shame as its a lovely little cottage but does need updating sadly netflix wouldn't work so nothing to watch in the evenings & there a pears to be an issue with bees in the property & we are very reluctant to book here again now. carl & Sarah july 2023

    • The K Family - Verified booking

We had a fantastic 10 night stay in Wedge Cottage in September 2021. We were 4 adults and 1 under 3 and there was plenty of space in the well equipped open plan kitchen, diner and living room area for us all. There was lots of space in the downstairs bedroom for a travel cot and sufficient wardrobe and drawer space for 3 of us. The double bedroom upstairs was very comfortable and had its own WC. However, all the bathrooms were very clean and immaculately finished. It was great to have a closed off garden for our little one but we didn't get to make too much use of it as we were busy in the waves with the body boards kindly provided in the shed which had all you would need for a beach day too. It was very easy to drive to Polzeath beach in less than 10 minutes or a lovely walk across the golf course if you'd prefer not to pay for the parking.

We wanted somewhere to relax and Wedge cottage has exceeded our expectations! So well designed that you feel at home straight away and wonderfully equipped, especially with the thoughtful inclusion of body boards in the shed. Grab those and walk sown to Polzeath beach through the golf course ar medium/low tide and you'll have a wonderful day. No need to go anywhere else but Pentire Head is stunning, Port Isaac very picturesque. Great pizza and service at Atlantic Bar and kitchen at far end of Polzeath Beach. In Padstow get away the bulk of the tourists by walking up the hill for great views. We discovered Craftworks hidden away in PAdstow Holiday Village. Fantastic burgers and beer and very quiet on Sunday lunchtime. Thank you for a perfect hideaway!
