What our customers say about their holidays

    • Annie - Verified booking

I have been reluctant to leave negative feedback because I feel that the owner isn’t to blame for the cleanliness of the property and the wrong information given by the agents but since they keep asking for my feedback here goes.

We arrived very late evening, upon entering myself and my daughter sat on the bed chatting. I kept scratching my back, feeling an itch, but didn’t take too much notice, until I looked down on the bed and saw a flea hopping about ! I ran to find the vacuum cleaner, managed to vacuum up two fleas ! After that I decided to have have a look around the apartment and was pretty disgusted at what I saw. The toilet was filthy ! (I won’t go into detail ) The sink and bath hadn’t been cleaned either. The lounge had areas with a gathering of someones long hair and lots of dust. I could go on but I won’t. On the positive the bed was made very nicely, although there was what looked like chocolate marks when you pulled back the sheets. I should imagine the owner pays a lot for a cleaning service, which having worked in housekeeping in Center Parcs for a couple of years, I’m pretty sure no cleaning was done, other than the cleaning the previous guests did prior to departure. I phoned Dream cottages in the morning to notify them. Also very disappointing that we wanted a two week holiday but when checking I was told there wasn’t a parking permit with this property. They suggested other places to park, but didn’t know the cost so I just booked a week instead. I was delighted to see a parking permit on the table but annoyed that I was given the wrong information. The apartment had a lovely view and was very central. The Happy Hamper that was left for us was a very thoughtful touch.

We were so pleased with the accommodation, it was really beautifully decorated very well equipped and spotlessly clean.

The views from the large windows were amazing and you could see them wherever you were in the main area of the flat, it was perfect. The flat was in a great location so close to the beach, the harbour, bars, restaraunts and the shops, they were all within easy walking distance. Tha only downside to us was the noise at night, we expected some noise as we knew where the flat was and the write up on the flat does disclose that, however it really was excessive!! There is a nightclub next door that is open until the early hours of morning, you can hear the constant base from the music at all times, from when it starts until the club closes, We could just about live with that, but the noise from the customers outside all night long is unbelievable! It really is on another level! Loud shouting, swearing screaming and calling after one another, arguing, running around over the road to the beach, on the beach, in the little promenade shelter opposite, both when the club is open and after it closed, there were some very large groups of youngsters , even with the windows closed it was impossible to sleep through it. this goes on until at least 4am, yesterday morning the last ones went off at 5.30. It really is such a shame, I would have loved to stay there again, but the sleep deprivation totally spoiled our four night break there for us. We were pleased we hadn't decided to include the weekend as others have reported it to be worse then, I can't imagine it any worse!

This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle.

You feel as if you are tucked away in the heart of the countryside, yet it is only a short drive away from Dartmouth, and even closer to two supermarkets (Lidl and Sainsburys). The apartment was very warm, comfortable and spacious, with a lovely view from the little balcony. Perfect for one or two people. My dog absolutely loved having her own dedicated, giant, grassy garden to sniff and play in. It had a table and seating there, which I am sure would be lovely to eat at in the warmer weather. Sue was very welcoming and helpful and nothing was a problem. The welcome basket was very generous and I really enjoyed munching my way through the contents. Thank you. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of storage space for clothes and bags. And a very comfortable bed. You will see other visitors have commented about the access road, Yes, it is narrow, bumpy and twisty and you need to drive slowly and carefully, but my Renault Scenic coped fine, even fully loaded. So please don't let that put you off. I am very happy to recommend Lower Norton Farm Apartment to you.

Holiday was good overall but there were a few areas for improvement.

The listing said that the road was quiet now due to the closure of a nightclub. This was not the case and was noisy till gone midnight most nights - this should be made clear in the listing. Parking was very difficult. We weren’t advised of the closure of the Pavilion car park (the main car park in the town) prior to our arrival which made parking very difficult. Cleanliness could have been improved, the floor/rug was not clean and we had to hoover ourselves. Glasses/Mugs weren’t that clean either, we had to wash before using them. We didn’t mind this but would’ve expected a better level of cleanliness to begin with. Basic supplies could have been better - broken knives, only 1 baking tray, would have expected at least some foil/food bags but there wasn’t any! The lock on the door was very temperamental and had to be in exactly the right place to lock - very fiddly! Overall, we probably wouldn’t stay again due to location and parking.

We enjoyed our stay tremendously, but there were problems.

Parking to unload our luggage was a nightmare and on both Friday and Saturday nights we had very little sleep due to people at a nightclub two doors down were outside on the street yelling and swearing until 5 or 6 am! The local council should be informed. Some of the instructions were not as clear as they could be. The directions for key collection stated that the key was in a box to the left of the mailboxes and there were THREE key boxes. They should have been numbered according to the flats. The appliances were baffling. Why use touch screen hob and washer instead of dials? We had difficulty getting the hob to work. We could not alter the thermostat despite following the instructions to the letter.Other than that, we loved the flat and enjoyed our visit very much. We do plan on returning to 6 The Beaches again, despite infuriating appliances. The flat was very well appointed with lovely views over the beach.
