If you're looking for peace and quiet in comfortable surroundings you would have to look for a very long time before finding somewhere better than this. You can see the look of the cottage and the contents elsewhere but what you can't tell is how peaceful it is - the occasional sheep or bird virtually the only noises you hear. We sat with the patio door open just looking at the view down the field to the lake many evenings and then watched the moon rise over the opposite hillside. And there aren't any farm smells! Be prepared for the narrow Dorset lanes and I'd advise booking pubs in advance if you prefer to eat out (The Acorn at Evershot highly recommended) but that's not really to do with the "retreat".

Goose Run Cottage is a beautiful barn in the middle of nowhere. Old on the outside and thoroughly modern on the inside, with huge windows that overlook the estate and lake - it's a wonderful view to wake up to. Everything was really comfortable (great bed!) and clean, and the welcome basket was realy well stocked. Jonathan was a great host and even showed us the Roman well, which he found in a nearby copse. Kids (and adults!) will enjoy the swings and tree house a short walk across the fields. The cottage is within easy reach of the coast and all the local tourist attractions. We really had a very relaxing stay here and will be back. Thank you Jonathan!

Goose Run Cottage was every bit as lovely as it appears, and some. Immaculately clean, very private, with views to die for. The drive into the property is really something. It was perfect for myself, my husband and our little dog who was fascinated by the sheep and lambs passing by all day. Jonathan was a perfect host, there if needed but affording lots of privacy. It was lovely to meet him on our last full day and hear some of the fascinating history of Goose Run Cottage and his neighbouring home. A great stay with no areas for improvement from us. Would highly recommend.

The cottage is beautifully located in a quiet valley. The standards of equipment and furnishings are exceptional - far in excess of what might be expected in a holiday cottage. This cottage and its welcoming hosts is a real gem and one of those to which you genuinely intend to return. A bonus is the clarity of the night sky should you be lucky enough to witness it.

Beautiful house and location. It was well furnished and equipped and very helpful owners. The view from the property was delightful, very restful. I knew I would like it from the picture , and I was not disappointed. This part of Dorset has some outstanding landscapes.It would be lovely to keep this special area a secret , can we?
