What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed in Hayloft cottage the last week in June 2021!

It was a needed girls trip to relax and do some exploring. The cottage did not disappoint! It’s a lovely cottage with beautiful views and in a peaceful location. We couldn’t have asked for anything more! We did find the cottage a little cold at times and would have loved some comfy throws for the living room. This wouldn’t stop us visiting again! We ventured out everyday then relaxed in the hot tub before going out in the evening. This cottage is in a great location for exploring, Whitby is a 20mins drive and Scarborough beach is10mins drive. We would recommend the below while staying at the Hayloft; Trip to Ravenscar to see the seals - the walk to the seals is down hill so walking back is a struggle. Definitely worth it! Falling Foss Waterfall - great adventure with a lovely tea room hidden away for a coffee and cake. The Foulsyke - we went for Sunday lunch. Great value for money and great tasting food. They serve the biggest Yorkshire puddings I have ever seen. Alberts Eatery Whitby - beautiful seafood restaurant with a great atmosphere. High recommended! The plough in Scalby - great restaurant, amazing goat cheese pie and fantastic espresso martini.

We have just returned from a lovely relaxing long weekend in this cottage.

It had been refurbished over summer which was lucky for us, as we should have originally been visiting in May. The brand new kitchen had absolutely everything you need. And the new bathroom is beautifully done. There were lots of little touches that made our stay easier, like tea coffee and milk in the kitchen on arrival. There were a few dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and washing machine detergent under the sink. And a full log basket ready for the log burner. Unfortunately the weather was not on board with the great service that the cottage hosts were providing, and 60mph winds and rain for the weekend meant that we only explored a small part of the area with our kiddies. But even when we were cold and wet, there was always time for a warm in the hottub, even in gale force winds The hosts recommended a couple of local pubs for Sunday lunch, and we went to the Bryerstones on their recommendation which didn't disappoint. Pros: Great cottage, beautiful location, hot tub a bonus. WIFI Cons: None really for us We will certainly stay again... looking for next year as soon as I've finished this!

The hayloft is a lovely place to stay and i would recommend it to anyone.

very clean and well maintained. Ben and Wendy, the owners are on hand to answer any questions and to carry out a water change of the hot tub if needed. the countryside is beautiful and there are countryside/coastal walks from the cottage. the farm has a few pet sheep, dogs and cats. there are also deer in the field behind the hayloft that can been seen if you get up early, and there is a toad that hops along the side of the cottage every night (loved him). the hayloft is homely, quiet and it was a pleasure to stay. if you want a restful holiday, where you can drive to the coast for the kids but relax in a tub overlooking beautiful countryside in the evenings, then the hayloft is defiantly for you. in fact we loved it so much we are going back next year!

A few disappointing issues regards the property.

Firstly, cupboard doors missing in the kitchen, on ice dispenser on the fridge as advertised, empty Reed diffusers in the bathroom and living room, the sofas were too low and difficult to get up out of. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable, had to take the very thin quilt from the spare room and use it as extra padding to lie on. The soft furnishings, cushions, bedding, towels were looking old and in need of replacing. Was shocked to see all the stains on the quilts when we removed the covers at the end of our stay, if had known before the state of those, would not have used them, really bad. All said and done, the location is lovely, very private garden and great hit tub but the property interior needs a little TLC to bring it up to standard.

      Perfect location.

Lovely peaceful setting but still within easy reach of Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby etc. The cottage is a converted barn on what was once a fully working farm. Farrow was the best of these by far. With a beautiful garden and fields beyond. What a view!! Due to the location we were able to see the stars on a clear night from the hot tub. The cottage is heated from the wood burning stove of which there is a plentiful supply of logs in the barn further up. There are other heaters in the rooms though if you dont want to fire up the wood burner. The owners live on site and are on hand if you need anything but otherwise leave you in peace. My only feedback would be that there were not enough toilet rolls. One and half rolls for 3 of us for 3 nights?????
