What our customers say about their holidays

    • The Maude Party - Verified booking

We had an excellent week, Marshmere was perfect, very comfortable, and very well equipped. We enjoyed several trips on Fair Sailing, to Ranworth, Ludham. How Hill and Wroxham as well as one or two shorter trips; my 86 year old father in law used to own a boat in Bridlington and he loved every minute of it! He also used to be in the RAF so a visit to the Neatishead radar museum was a real highlight, and even the doubters in our party found that surprisingly enjoyable and interesting. Plus the Hippodrome circus/water spectacle in Great Yarmouth was another slightly unexpected delight. We'd love to come again at some point; time will tell! With many thanks again.

Beautiful location and very comfortable. I was surprised at how spacious the property is and it was clean, not dated and not cluttered which I like. Nice selection of chairs to relax on as well and the kitchen is well equipped. We hired the owners boat for the week which I would 100% recommend as we had the freedom to go out on the broads whenever we wanted to which we really enjoyed. The clubhouse nearby also sells lovely food and drinks and cakes which can be bought and taken back to the property if desired which we did a few times. Very quiet location, didn’t hardly see or hear anyone else. Very relaxing stay.

Had booked for the week, left after the first night - it was that bad!

Bedding, mattresses and pillows with disgusting stains, bed with woodworm and dust, hair and cobwebs on the frame and floor. Curtains from the seventies. Lights not working, no lids for saucepans, freezing cold and damp on arrival and a hostess that wouldn’t leave us alone on arrival for 15 mins. Large black tent right outside bedroom window? Also position misrepresented on Sykes website, which makes it appear like it’s right on the Broads waterway when it’s actually on a very busy main road that’s pretty dangerous if you have a dog, with no direct acess to the waterfront

Marshmere is a very warm comfortable spacious and light property. It has all you need in the kitchen. The cooker is now electric and not gas. The village and pubs are within easy walking distance and there is a short but nice walk to the local staithe which is behind the lovely church. The village is a pleasant stroll away with three pubs and this property is in a very good location for exploring the Broards. The village of Ludham is nearby with a nice walk to How Hill. A visit to nearby Horsey Mere is a must to see the seal colony.

    • Gerald - Verified booking

There is no mobile phone coverage at the property and the wi-fi is very unreliable.

I think the listing should say this, so that people who need connectivity (as we did, because we were in the midst of a house move) are able to make an informed choice. Generally the property needs updating - all of the appliances and the TV are very elderly and the soft furnishings are similarly worn. The curtains had been reversed to try to conceal that they were faded. The property is next to quite a busy road and road noise is significant from about 6.00 am.
