What our customers say about their holidays

    • Tracey - Verified booking

This would be in the perfect location if it were only 20 yards or so further back from the road.

It’s a busy A road and whilst we expected some road noise, we didn’t expect it to remain noisy right though the night. Between that and mattresses that were made of concrete, we hardly slept. The shower door on the first floor was broken - this must have been known as you could not clean it otherwise. So- we were forced to use the one on the lower floor meaning a 2 stair trek in your towel each morning. Not great. Plus the controls for this shower were also dodgy. The window on the bottom staircase is cracked and the downstairs loo kept on refilling intermittently. The padlock on the parking space was broken when we got there, so all in all, not a very high standard of maintenance. There were 3 in our party, but had there been 4 we would have struggled to settle down on an evening. The small bay window area was plenty big enough for an arm chair, non of us could sit on the bean bag which was provided. A few little touches such as a place to hang tea towels etc would be good, and perhaps washing machine tablets. We couldn’t use the washer as we don’t usually travel with these and couldn’t find any in the property. On the other hand, the hob was great and the dishes were clean which saved a job. We usually have to run the dishwasher upon arrival in some cottages, but not here. We try to get to the lakes each year, but won’t be returning to this cottage I’m afraid.

Hi, We had a lovely stay and generally the Heights was very clean, comfortable and spacious.

On arrival I did phone to report the shower on the first floor was not working and that the shower on the ground floor had no bracket to hang the shower hand set so that you could stand under the shower. So on our first morning we all had to use the one shower on the ground floor with no bracket to hang the shower handset, it makes having a decent shower very difficult and is most annoying. I was told when I phoned that if there was no bracket then the maintenance team couldn’t just fit one, so I ordered one myself from Amazon which arrived the next day, we left it in place so hopefully the next people to stay will have a better shower experience. The first floor shower was fixed on Sunday but I am disappointed that it is not part of a check list to make sure the shower works before new guests arrive. The ground floor bedroom is a bit dated and there are no bedside tables and no bedside lights. Despite the above problems which could easily have been corrected before we arrived, we did have a lovely holiday and the Heights is perfectly placed for walking into Bowness.

      25 September 2021.

The terraced house was recently renovated we guessed. Most of the equipement was brand new to the extent of some being in the box or wrapper. We had a few minor issues but nothing to worry about. The house is on three levels and we found we did not use the bottom level other than for entry and exit. The shower and bathroom on this level is useful but not convenient as the bedrooms are on the top floor. We did not use the front door at all as it goes out onto a busy road and the back is more attractive and has the parking space. Parking space is tight but OK for most cars. Need to have a tea pot installed. Add one bedside cabinet and light to the main bedroom and other bedroom if it will fit. (Chest of drawers in second room has small drawers and not useful). Need one table tamp in lounge. TV is excellent and has all streaming services installed. WIFI is excellent. Overall would recommend this place for 4 people. I would say that the photos on the website do not reflect the (better) reality - think it is because the decor is all white and refelcts the light.

Had an enjoyable week staying at The Heights.

This holiday home is very modern and nicely decorated throughout as well as clean and tidy, with everything that you could possibly need for a self-catering stay. The ground floor is almost self contained, with a doubling up of both a kitchen and bathroom. The rear garden has a table and chairs and is quiet considering the proximity of the centre of Bowness. This house is situated on a hill (although there is a cut giving access to the Bowness main road) and given that the house has three levels people with mobility problems maybe have issues with this let. The car parking space immediately in front of the house can accommodate two small family cars satisfactorily. The only gripe with the property was a very slow draining sink in the mid level shower room (probably easy to rectify). I would recommend this house as a holiday location within the lively centre of Bowness and would certainly consider staying here again.
