The Old Post Office is a very comfortable holiday let with plenty of space for families.
The garden is amazing, surrounded by a Yorkshire stone wall & a tiny gate in the wall at the very bottom of the garden for a quick escape to go sight seeing. Everything about the cottage is so peaceful & relaxing. I agree with previous feedback that the photos do not do it justice. It is a typical old cottage with stone flagged floors, two open fires (if you fancy them) & central heating. Two very comfortable lounges, one with TV & 3 bathrooms one being on the ground floor in a utility room with shower & toilet. The kitchen is luxurious with marble worktops & plenty of storage as well as everything else you require. The bedrooms are also very comfortable. Finally the views into the field & beyond next to the cottage from the dining room are amazing & if you are lucky the sheep may be in the field & come up to the window to say hello. Such a treat! I think visitors considering this property should know that the cottage is in a tiny village with no shops etc. The nearest town for supermarkets is Richmond approximately 20 mins by car away. I know the area so I planned ahead so we had everything required on arrival. Or you could do an online order & have it delivered to you. Highly recommended for peace, nice walks & the most beautiful scenery.

Magnolia cottage is a hidden gem situated in the small, picturesque village of Barton in north Yorkshire.
The very friendly owners live just across the street and are on hand should you need anything. The cottage was clean, comfortable, nicely furnished and had the most comfortable beds. The added bonus was that both bedrooms have their own ensuite bathroom. The recently redesigned garden and summer house is ideal if you need some "time out" and personal space. The village has a well stocked local shop, the Half Moon pub ( no food, just good beer) ! and a travelling fish and chip van on a Tuesday. The cottage ideally situated for visiting County Durham and Yorkshire as the A1 and Scotch Corner is only a few miles away. We explored the local area which is steeped in railway history, visited the Tanhill Inn, the highest pub in the UK and Newby Hall ( recommend the guided tour) which has an excellent permanent dolls house collection, beautiful gardens, miniature railway, boat rides and a not too shabby cafe ! All-in-all we had a very good all round holiday experience and plan to return soon.

We absolutely loved the cottage.
Both Phil and Jackie made us feel most welcome and there was also a lovely welcome pack for us. Everything in the cottage was of good quality and very carefully and thoughtfully thought about. We must have known before we booked but it was absolutely wonderful to have two bathrooms. Me and my husband took one each so that we could be indulgent. The cottage also has a garden and summerhouse (which we did not use) which is beautifully tended. The parking is also an additional bonus, which made parking very easy. There is a lovely little beck that runs through the village which, as it rained all day on Wednesday, became a little faster flowing. We did not take the risk of driving through it but just went the other way. The cottage is based in a good location for visiting. We went to Richmond, Barnard Castle, Hartlepool Royal Naval Museum, Raby Castle and High Force - all thoroughly enjoyable. We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone.

The interior photos are in no way representative of this lovely cottage!
It is spacious but still cosy, refurbished and (tastefully) modernised with the addition of larger windows and a fabulous airy extension (the dining room). We were looking forward to sitting by the fire but the heating was so good that the place was always warm! Comfy beds, warm duvets, decent showers (given that they are electric) and everything you could need in the kitchen. I feared the worst when I read "electric hob" but it is in fact an induction hob so cooking was very easy. The remote location was a positive for us and we enjoyed the views from the upstairs and dining room windows. There were several paths to walk nearby without needing to get in the car, but Grinton and Reeth (10 minute drive down a narrow lane) provided further opportunities close by. We would highly recommend this cottage and would definitely stay here again.

This was a lovely holiday cottage and there were a few unexpected welcome additions which immediately won us over.
There was a hamper of essentials such as bread, milk, cheese, biscuits, coffee, etc plus a bottle of wine; toiletries in the en suites and boxes of tissues in all the rooms. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night as it was a quiet area. An easy to use wood burning stove in the sitting room was an additional pleasure on the chilly evenings although the central heating was very efficient anyway. The cottage was just a short easy drive to Richmond and then onwards into the Yorkshire Dales and the delights of Reeth, Muker, Leyburn, Hawes and the Wensleydale cheese factory, plus Masham and Bedale. Although there was a local pub it didn't serve food but four miles away the pub at Stapleton served delicious food of every nation. All in all this was a delightful holiday and comfortable cottage.
