Would not stay at this cottage again.
Very fussy caretaker who didn't like us turning the heating down during our stay (we stayed in high summer and the cottage was boiling with the heating on full blast) and who actually entered the cottage with a workman one day while we were out and turned the heating back up after we had turned it down! We also received a lecture on having mistakenly used the wrong dustbin for our rubbish. The partition wall between this cottage and the one next door was very thin, to the extent that it was possible to hear every word being said next door when in the kitchen. Parking was occasionally an issue. Village pub was unfriendly, did not serve food, and did not allow dogs. Owing to all this, we found it difficult to relax in the cottage. On the positive side, the location is super with numerous beautiful walks from the door.

I am just home from enjoying a great week staying in Arklehurst and I am missing it already.
The cottage is warm and comfortable and equipped with everything you could need. The walks from the door are fantastic, my dogs were in seventh heaven as was I. I am really missing the peace and quiet, no noise but the bleating of sheep and the sound of rushing water. The only thing I missed was having some outside space to sit in the sun at the end of the day but that is clear from the details so is not a criticism. It's a pity the Red Lion doesn't allow dogs in but the CB Inn just up the road does and they were very friendly and welcoming . The food was good too! All in all I am very happy with my stay and will very likely book Arklehurst again. Thank you for sharing this very special corner of Yorkshire with me.

Had a fantastic stay at Arklehurst.
Perfect location for us. Lots of lovely walks. Kitchen was a lovely entrance, very spacious and well equipped. However, may I suggest a small welcome basket. For example milk, tea, coffee, biscuits. The shop which is 3 miles does stock all the above and more. But if you arrive late due to the traffic then youâre out of luck. The house was tidy but wouldnât say clean, there were a lot of cobwebs (that had been there a while) dust on the sides and the shower had mould on (which is obviously known about due to the mould spray that is kept in the bathroom). Overall this was a perfect location for a very quiet break. With fantastic walks and The CB Inn a few miles away for a perfect dinner experience.

Everything we needed for our comfort and use was available.
The cottage was sufficiently warm with plenty of hot water and the beds provided us with many good nights rest. Some surfaces were a little dusty and the settees in the lounge a little malodorous, but the kitchen and bathroom were both very clean and hygienic. Bedding and towels were excellent. We were generally very happy with the cottage. Excellent location and we fully understood the parking arrangements as we have stayed in Langthwaite before. We would certainly recommend Arklehurst to others and return again. Thank you for providing the opportunity to holiday there.

Lovely cottage, wonderful location.
We have had a fantastic week at Arklehurst. The cottage was really cosy, clean and well appointed. Village and locals were very friendly. Dog walking was beautiful and straight from the door. Sadly we were unable to book an evening meal at the CB, no fault of theirs - very busy due to Covid restrictions and everyone wanting to go there. Red Lion was just lovely, not a problem with the dogs outside. Would thoroughly recommend, and hope to return one day. Do take food supplies as nearest big supermarket is a little way away.
