What our customers say about their holidays

    • Shelley - Verified booking

The cabin is compact but very comfortable with some nice touches.

Nice bottle of wine left by the owners and shampoo/conditioner and liquid soap in the bathroom, plus dog treats and chocolate biscuits. It has all the facilities required such as small oven, microwave and toaster. The bed is comfy, It is a slight trek down to the cabin around another property and over two lawns with stones on to make getting to it easier. Also to get to town, you can go down another field, through a gate and you need to grab onto some rope to get to the path. I thought this quite exciting like an Enid Blyton book. The cabin is not for the infirm. This is made clear in the description. It is definitely like being cut off from the world and I would return. Views are amazing. There are binoculars at the property. The owners made contact a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. Not much power in the shower. Also pack light as there isn’t much storage space for belongings. We were lucky with the weather and it’s nice to sit out on the deck.

The best thing about The Beach Hut is its close proximity to the beach and easy stroll to town. The chalet is bright and cheery, was fairly clean and has the basics. The dishwasher and electric towel rail were a bonus. There are no books or games - probably a hangover from the pandemic - so bring your own if you'd like these. The property is fully fenced and has a lovely private patio at the back, surrounded by greenery. It had outdoor chairs and low tables but no normal height table to eat outdoors (as was pictured). We are not a big family but the bath towels were on the teeny side. There is a small washing line but we brought a longer one, which was well used. We would look to book again if prices stayed the same/dropped - otherwise a staycation in Croyde is becoming almost as expensive as going abroad. Loved the colourful wall art.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hide Out.

Nick and Donna were friendly and helpful but also left us to ourselves. It’s lovely inside and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Everything is very comfortable especially the bed and the chairs. The garden is also very pretty and there are lots of comfortable places to sit, including a lovely hammock, and admire the views which are spectacular. Our only reservation is the steps to to the hideout, although safe are a bit steep for anyone with mobility issues. We are in our mid seventies and my husband had a hip replacement recently so we found this a bit of a challenge. We managed though and our daughter and grandchildren had no problem. It is walkable to Totnes town centre on the road and there is a steep path down for the fit and agile.

Dove Lodge provided a very comfortable stay and was very well equipped with everything you might need for a great self-catering holiday.

The location is very remote and peaceful and, at the same time, provides a good base to travel around Devon and into Cornwall/ Somerset. The Legge Farm site is nicely laid out and the lakes are within a stone's throw from the accommodation. The lakes are well stocked with mixed coarse fish with plenty to keep the rod bending and plenty of wildlife to enjoy including the glorious blue flash of Kingfisher across the water. The facilities on site are very good including the lake toilet, which has to be the smartest fishing loo I have every encountered in all my years of angling! I was also impressed with the bin store and its particular attention to recycling.

Beautiful wooden cabin overlooking the river Dart.

Perfect location especially as we didn't have a car (5 minutes walk to Totnes centre via the field and on the Sharpham Estate walking path). Small but had everything we needed including an outdoor bbq which we were lucky enough to use. We were lucky with the weather but the outdoor dining/bbq area is under a canopy and you can still be outside even it it rains. The fridge is on the small side (camping size) but I believe it will be changed to a larger one. Our hosts Nick and Donna were very nice and helpful and even gave us a lift into town on the day of our departure, thank you! We really loved the cabin and its position and will definitely be back :)
