What our customers say about their holidays

    • Elizabeth - Verified booking

Pure Grace (love the name btw) is a fabulous apartment in a fabulous location, the view couldn't be bettered and to be opposite Windermere and the jetties for the boats made it very special.

The apartment is furnished and equipped to a very high and comfortable standard and it was super clean. however there were a few slightly negative things. 1. we could find no instructions for the microwave and could not figure it out. 2. we could find no instructions for the tv, apple tv asked for passwords so we were limited to BBC iplayer 3. there was a problem with the dishwasher, the middle sprayer had fallen off and we couldn't see how to attach it. 4. the plug in the hand basin in the en-suite shower room doesn't work. 5. the downlighters in the bedroom with the en-suite give off migraine inducing flashes when they have been on for a few minutes. (I emailed Lakelovers with these comments during our stay but had no reply) 6. some nicer mugs would be good. Worth noting for others that the welcome packs are very basic i.e. a few tea bags, coffee sachets, sugar sachets, UHT milk sachets and a few biscuits. Not really worth having, you will have to bring your own initial supplies. The purple folder says that some chocolates were left for our enjoyment, however there were no chocolates. Although very clean and comfortable, it all felt very impersonal and business like. There was a notice beside the lift warning that it could break down at any time due to power shortages, it advised us to use the stairs or put luggage or shopping in the lift and send it on its own. it advised that if we were in couples or groups that not all members should travel together then at least someone would know if we were stuck in the lift - slightly alarming. however the apartment is only one floor up and it is easy to send luggage up/down. although I have listed these 'negatives' they are by way of reporting and would not stop us renting Pure Grace again, we would also recommend it to others.

Stunning apartment, luxurious as promised, the view of the lake and the mountains beautiful.

We were disappointed that there were no Xmas decorations considering we’d booked a Chrismas break away, this is the first time ever we’ve had to take our own. The key pick up rather impersonal no directions given etc. No welcome pack or basic provisions again a first out of numerous cottages we have rented in the past. Housekeeping rather lax. Although clean and tidy little things had been missed or forgotten. The dishwasher door was broken this has been reported twice on previous reviews, the hinge was broken making it very dangerous. In addition the smell from the dishwasher was disgusting, the soap dispenser wasn’t working. Cupboards untidy no attempt to group items to make things easier to find, some cooking items and table mats dirty. Knives useless, our Chrismas day turkey was hacked rather than carved. Instructions missing for key items. No instructions for heating, cooker instructions eventually found in kitchen. Reported lack of instructions for heating and someone turned up with portable heaters! We were too hot not too cold. The second bedroom was like a sauna it was set at 28 C we discovered on our final day when we managed to work out how to use the heating controls. Batteries had run out on remote control, no TV for our first night. Light bulbs in bedroom out. No basic toiletries in bathrooms. A minor but irritating point was no champagne glasses. Broken leg on sofa. There just seemed to be a lack of care, although luxurious something missing!!! Reflected in some way in that there was no Guest Book allowing you to leave personal comments, hence this rather lengthy review. Would we recommend it to others, yes with caveats. Would we return, yes, as we would be more prepared and that view is to die for!

      Very disappointed.

This was our second stay at the property and we thought that the 'hiccups' from last time would be gone. Not so. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the property when we arrived, as we were last time. We thought that lights that didn't work last time surely would this time, wrong! The balcony door had been left half open when we arrived and in a broken state. Reporting this, the maintenance man arrived quite quickly and gave us the best offering he could, ie a screwed in piece of wood to hold it in place and a screwdriver so that I could open it when required (I was not unhappy with this scenario and the maintenance man was very helpful). I had a call back from yourselves with a comment that this had been reported to the owner who was organising a new door(!!) and that they would discuss compensation with him. Compensation wasn't an important item, but when I then get a call from yourselves saying that you had done all that you could so no compensation was appropriate, I was slightly miffed, as this somewhat misses them point. From being happy with your response I went to not wanting to use you again, and wondering if social media is the best way to warn others.

We are regular visitors to the lakes and Ambleside in particular and have stayed in some wonderful cottages this stay was absolutely terrible.

We went without hot water for 24 hours, where we were offered a first and last offer of £45 as compensation. Considering the property charges significantly more than this per night and to have an entire night and day without hot water with no offer of alternatives is diabolical. We had to use the kettle in the sink to wash ourselves and to wash up dishes which after a day of long hikes was hugely inconvenient. We didnt even get an apology for this inconvenience just a first and last offer which is significantly less than what we had paid per night. This isnt a one off issue as in the visitors book the hot water issue was mentioned by multiple guests. Do not book this property it was AWFUL. We will be now leaving reviews everywhere to warn others to avoid this property at all costs.

Four of us stayed at Rooftops from Fri 26 Jul - Fri 2 Aug 2024.

Three of us were taking part in the Montane Lakeland 50 / 100 Ultra marathon which took place Fri 26 Jul - Sun 28 Jul, from John Ruskin School just next door. Rooftop made this the perfect location to stay. We were offered an extra 5 days free whilst booking, which we took full advantage of to rest up and recuperate after the race. The flat was roomy and clean - a home away from home. The kitchen was well stocked and I've made a note of where I can purchase some baa baa sheep blinds and matching lamp shade from. There is a convenient space for one car outside, with additional parking available at John Ruskin School, less than a 5 min walk away. The flat is close to a range of cafes, restaurants, pubs, and shops, as well as the very popular Coniston Water and Old Man of Coniston.
