The only selling point to this property is of course the view and location.
Although the property looks good inside on first appearance, there were many unsatisfactory issues. The double bed was very uncomfortable it dips right down in the middle and makes a loud cracking noise when you get out sounding and feeling like the frame is broken (left with a bad back!) we had to clean round the property before settling in as the cleanliness was extremely poor. The bedrooms (both) smelt musty and damp, we couldn't use any of the storage - wardrobes and drawers as they smelt extremely damp/musty. The towels supplied for use were rock hard and smelly/musty. The patio doors from the main bedroom led to a disgustingly dirty courtyard which was unusable, which should be regularly cleaned. The front outside seating area was not practical as too much furniture in such a small area; also the seating cushions were left out/on so were wet/damp. We couldn't regulate the hot water in the shower; therefore got scolded more than once! There was no manual or information with regards to anything in the cottage ie how to use the heating system, how to dispose of rubbish etc and the bins allocated to the flat were all locked, we therefore put most of our rubbish into the local public bins on our way out.

Suellen and Pete are superb hosts at Uplands.
The accommodation is comfortable, clean, quiet and superb views over Dorset green fields and woodland. Our daughter loved the farm. The Guinea fowl, ducks, geese, chickens, peacocks, horses, cats and dogs - very charming having this area to explore and enjoy. Suellen and Pete showed us round many times. The local pub (The Griffins Head) was very friendly, but worth calling ahead to ensure itâs open and to book. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch there, really reasonable for dinner and pudding. NB. only takes cash though - very old school! Lovely walks around Over Compton and Nether Compton and very close to Sherborne which is a lovely town for shopping and eating out. We also had days out at Lyme Regis and Beer which took about an hour to get to, but worth it. We also visited the National Trusts Montacute House and gardens just the other side of Yeovil. That was also worth a visit to see how the Elizabethans lived. The castles at Sherborne are beautiful and the garden centre there is definitely worth a visit too. Uplands is a great base and was very relaxing.

We were extremely happy with this apartment, there was everything we needed, it was clean and comfortable, and the sea views from the dining area and balcony were wonderful.
The beds were comfortable and the showers good, with lovely big bath towels provided. The BT box for extra TV facilities over normal Freeview was a bonus. The location, only a short walk from the harbour, shops, places to eat, and bus routes to other towns, was ideal. Take a longer stroll along the coast, round the headland and visit the Tunnel Beaches, all very unique and beautiful. We read the provided information about the lack of street parking (which is really quite clear), did some research, and got a prepaid ticket for the Ropery Carpark posted to us in advance. It's just around the corner, but you can still very briefly park by the property to unload. There were seagulls around, but this particular property actively prevents them from landing on the balcony so they weren't a problem. All in all, we would definitely use this property again, should we return to Ilfracombe. Thank you.

An absolutely awful stay.
You need to get someone to visit this property we swapped a quiet comfortable home for a dog barking the owner has decided to breed dogs now. Parrot squawking door banging motor bike running grandchildren running shouting at top of their voices and some sort of steel banging at 8 at night one night. Along with a radio running all day in the garage downstairs. Stale smoke smells from below us. This is a no smoking property. I shall be contacting in writing over the next number of days. They need to be look at again regards no `pat testing` done on any electrical items the cleaning is a lot to be desired too. As for the covers on the double bed barely covered the bed let alone when you got in it. This is not what we expected from your company, and we have had holidays in many cottages in the country so know what we can expect this one we have rated bottom.

This holiday home was absolutely amazing.
It truly felt like a home away from home. The owners have done an outstanding job to create such a place, stocked full of basically anything you could need. It was perfect for what we wanted, an escape to forget about everything going on recently and just relax. It is perfectly suitable for a family (sure a couple would enjoy it thoroughly too) and our daughter loved getting to see their wonderful animals on a daily basis. Surroundings are lovely as well and there is quite a bit of countryside to explore from the house if you enjoy a walk. It's within an hour's drive to several very nice beaches. There is a good selection of supermarkets in the next town (roughly ten minute drive). After a five night stay I'm unable to fault this holiday home. We felt looked after and were sad to leave.
