The main picture of the cottage is, in fact, a photo of the owners' cottage.
Colly cottage is round the back - much less pretty and a very misleading picture. All of the other photos portray innacurately tidy, clean and ordered rooms - in fact, the living room was cluttered with further random pieces of furniture as was the upstairs bedroom. We were fascinated by the TV stand which was full of books and facing the wrong way. The stuff portrayed hanging on the walls has been replaced with tackier hangings. Everything was dusty round the edges and the oven stank of burnt meat juices whenever it was used. The owner, without letting us know, let himself in to adjust the shower while we were out leaving dirt and what I think was glue residue on the floor of the shower. His wife, at one point, simply tapped on the door and walked in with a 'hello.' To drive out of the gate was simply risky as in both directions, it was impossible to see traffic coming - had a couple of near misses with tractors. Worst for us was that it was situated on a working livestock farm, a fact that is not mentioned in the blurb about the cottage and a fact that would have meant we'd not have looked at the cottage as we are vegans.

The Thatched Cottage is a lovely, clean and well maintained comfortable cottage, with a pretty and very sunny garden.
The on street parking was never a problem for us all. Charmouth is a scenic and unspoilt little town. Dogs are allowed on the east side of the lovely beach all year which was a great bonus in September. The shops are good and the food in the Royal Oak pub was delicious. We can definitely recommend this lovely, spacious cottage with a delightful sun room overlooking the private garden. The only negative for us was that we did find the road at the front rather noisy and although it's only a short walk to the beach, pubs etc, the cottage is at the top of quite a steep hill on return! Thank you to the owner for a really fabulous holiday, the weather was fantastic and we appreciated our lovely welcome gifts. Charmouth is most definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed our stay and our hosts were very friendly and helpful.
The fresh eggs and cake on arrival were very welcoming. The barn was beautiful finished to a very high standard and was very spacious. The log burner warmed the area up very quickly and provided a very cosy atmosphere. There was lots of helpful information available regarding places to visit and restaurants etc to dine in in the area. Only a few minor points we would mention would be ,there was some traffic noise ( which had been stated in the write up about the property) which could effect some people sleep .For shorter people the bed is a little high, plus it might be worth marking the edges of the stairs as the steps too easily blend into each other and maybe be difficult for some to negotiate. Overall we would recommend the Stone Barn.

We all had an enjoyable week staying at the property and appreciated the welcome gift bag!
The conservatory and garden were well used and we even saw deer on the field behind the property. The beds were very comfy too. Mirrors in the bedrooms are greatly needed!!! We had no way of drying/styling our hair in view, this was a problem with two teenager daughters and two other women in the group. Another must is hanging rails for clothes, none of us ended up unpacking our clothes properly as there were only coat hooks and hà ngers in the rooms which seemed a bit too basic to be honest. There were also quite a few moths which might need looking into. Overall Thatched Cottage was a clean and well stocked for cleaning products etc cottage and the kitchen had all the things we needed and more making it very comfortable.

The property is fantastic and very well equipped.
A couple of things though we thought need looking at were: the toilet seat in the downstairs loo as it needs tightening and the handbasin taps in the bathroom currently need an extra quarter turn after thinking they were shut off, otherwise they were still running. Also I bought Scrabble and I hope you don't mind that we left it in the property as there were no games other than a pack of cards, and a puzzle, which we felt was unusual. And we only found the 2024 tide book on the penultimate day as it was tucked amongst the general books. Knowing it was available would have made things a tad easier. As I said though, fantastic house and garden. Would absolutely stay again!
