The location is amazing, overlooking the sea and train line and just a short walk from pubs, cafes and train station.

We stayed in the cottage next door a few years ago so were aware of the access to the property being down a ramp, steps and a narrow path but its worth it once you get your gear to the cottage. The sea front walkway is now fully open so over the bridge and few steps down will get you on there and itâs a short level walk to the centre, easier than going back up the slope. The things I will mention below did not affect our holiday but for the owner there are a couple of things to be looked and if no-one mentions them then the owner cannot sort it out. There are numerous bulbs out throughout the property, I'm happy to change a bulb in a lamp but these were spotlights, too high to reach without a stepladder. The handle has been snapped off the cupboard where the fridge is meaning you have to try and put your hand up underneath to grab the door of the freezer. Others have pulled at the door and caused the door to come away at the bottom. If I had a spanner and screwdriver I would have simply switched a handle from one of the other cupboards. The T.V in the living room does need updating or even just a DVD player put in front room. After a day of walking we like to watch a film but with basic T.V we ended up watching upstairs in the bedroom which meant we didn't make much use of the front room. We loved our stay and would definitely visit again, its just a shame its an 8-9 hour drive from newcastle!

An excellent choice for an escape to the south Devon coast.

St Julien does exactly what it says on the listing and the views of the sea from the open plan living space really is quite wow. As a low-level train enthusiast, hearing them rumble away quietly in the distance making their way towards Exeter or further west was a treat! The apartment was clean and welcoming, as was Maggie the owner downstairs who was on hand with a text if necessary but who allowed us to enjoy our time in her space. Situated within a 5 minute walk from a Premier, a short drive from a Sainsburys or a 12-15 minute walk from black swan haven of Dawlish town centre and its train station, St Julien was also located right alongside a bus stop, where the No.2 Stagecoach could take you towards Newton Abbot or up to Exeter for just Â£2 each one-way. So my wife and I ended us using the buses and trains all week to explore the south coast and left the car in the neat and comfy parking bay outside the entrance. Everything in the apartment worked easily - a good shower, an easy to use Smart TV and a basic but fully operable kitchenette that did the job. Excellent and most certainly recommended for couples or solo travellers looking for a comfy, welcoming, well connected base from which to explore Devon and beyond. A big Welsh 'Diolch' to Maggie for her hospitality and warm welcome.

This apartment is incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Despite it being on a busy road and with the train track in front it really was not noisy. Great location as you are just outside of the main town but itâs a few minutes walk and you are in the heart of it. I donât drive so it was an ideal location you can hop straight on the train. The bus stops are literally just outside also. The contact I had with Maggie was great, just the right amount to let me know if I had a problem I could reach out and sheâd help but not at all intrusive. Finally I have to mention the most important thingâ¦..the view! I happily sat for hours staring out to sea it was incredibly relaxing. When I first went into the apartment I wasnât sure about the scope being there but it turns out itâs great fun and also quite relaxing, who knew! I would happily stay here again it was amazing the only thing to bear in mind is most places in Dawlish seemed to close at 4pm but you get the hang of the slower pace of life quite quickly.

This was our second stay at the cottage and we loved it.

It takes a while to get everything from the car (parked some distance away) to the cottage itself but once in, we had a very relaxing comfortable week. Thanks for the welcome pack (nice not to rush to the shops to have a cup of tea) and a special thanks to the owner who immediately posted on to us a leather jacket that weâd accidentally left behind. The beds were very comfortable and it was lovely to wake up to the sound of the sea each morning. I like to cater while weâre away and the kitchen was well equipped with everything needed (maybe a microwave spatter guard would be a good addition). The lounge had comfortable reclining sofas and a âno fussâ TV and we enjoyed our meals in bright dining area with a sea view. The patio out the back would be great for al fresco dining - maybe on another, warmer, visit? We hope to be back again and would certainly recommend to others looking for break that is quiet, yet handy for town and transport.

Great property, comfortable with four adults and two children ,although bedrooms a little tight with double beds and draw units etc, may struggle with six adults tbh.

Upon arriving I was expecting an en-suite as two bathrooms were advertised, although it does clearly state that one is located outside, which I would imaging would be a little chilly in the winter months, and tbh I must have missed when booking, so beware. Ideally suited to a family as opposed to six friends/three couples. lovely balcony/terrace to sit out in the sun ,some walls could do with repainting too.Trains frequent but tbh don't really bother you as you get use to them, cracking views and very lovely neighbours at no 7.Also take note of the parking and access instructions, they are clear enough to follow, but parking is very limited in the side roads and whilst unloading/loading luggage/food etc I would reccommend smaller lighter bags, and more trips than large heavy boxes and cases as the amount of steps and walking required is quite tiring, if like me you are not the fittest person around, all in all a lovely week.
