The cottage is easy to find.

I used google maps to follow the directions and found that useful beforehand. The cottage is set in a pretty garden. The entrance is quite tight if you have a large car and may require a bit of manoeuvring. The cottage was spotless throughout. The welcome basket was enjoyed during our stay. A small bottle of milk was in the fridge for us on arrival. Plenty of information in the guest guide about the property, area, places to eat etc. There are folders in the kitchen and utility rooms with information about the appliances. This became very useful when I had to discover why the dishwasher didnât want to work, it had run out of rinse aid and salt, which were fortunately provided. The high quality furniture was comfortable throughout. We enjoyed the tv in the lounge which was easy to navigate, although it required updating before it would work one day, which my husband found easy to do following the instructions on the screen. We found that we were waking very early each morning due to the lack of blackout blinds or curtain liners in the bedrooms, and the local cockerel. The local pub was a short walk away and we enjoyed Sunday lunch served there. There are plenty of places to visit a short drive away from Hawkchurch in this beautiful area. Would recommend this property to everyone wanting a comfortable places to stay.

I have made representation to the management company for this property which I feel has been ignored, so I am addressing the issue through feedback.

There was a smell of fuel oil throughout the property for our entire stay. It was strongest in the downstairs areas but was present in upstairs and bedrooms. It was a known problem as was made evident by the visit of the owner, who explained an accident causing a leak in the boiler room. The oil had seeped into wooden fittings and caused a lasting stench. We persisted with our holiday managing by leaving downstairs windows open and purchasing diffusers (cost about Â£30) to mask the smell. There was a fan in the boiler room which we left on 24/7. We were a party of four, one of whom suffered headaches during our stay, whether or not caused by the stench I cannot say but certainly not helped by it. Our holiday was certainly not of the standard we expect and I am expecting compensation for the inconvenience, disappointment and possible health implications

The bungalow itself consists of two separate units in an L-shape that were perfect for a large family. The sleek, contemporary design of the bungalows perfectly complement the serene farm surroundings. Inside, both bungalows are all the latest amenities, including two fully equipped kitchens, stylish furnishings, and spacious living areas. The modern touches, from chic dÃ©cor to high-tech facilities, ensure a luxurious stay. The hosts have truly created an ideal escape, balancing modern convenience with the tranquility of farm life. Highly recommend this place for a peaceful yet sophisticated retreat!

Great kitchen facilities & gorgeous bedroom. The weather was great so maybe an outside umbrella would be nice so you could sit out on the patio in the shade? The 4 outside cameras were a little disconcerting as I felt I was being watched every time I was outside. I stayed nearly 3 weeks in the end & thought there may have been a clean at some point? Loo roll top up? Also just for owners info when I arrived the clean was a just a skim over - dust, cobwebs on floor behind curtains, in corners, fingerprints on kitchen cabinets, dust on microwave top. Also it was a nightmare trying to extend my stay as Skyes never returned any call backs despite me chasing them over 3 days. In the end I had to rebook online. Not a reflection on the accommodation at all though.

We wanted to escape from it all and Bridge Cottage provided the perfect half term break.

Owner Paul could not have been any more welcoming and was at pains to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The cottage is beautifully situated in the heart of Dalwood village within staggering distance of the wonderful village pub (excellent food) and the well-stocked community shop. Plethora of walks from the doorstep. The cottage and its garden are well cared for and beautifully decorated with a myriad of spaces and reading nooks for everyone to relax in. Heartfelt thanks to Paul and Sykes Cottages for a faultless stay in every regard and a week that will live long in the memory. Our fossil find on Seaton Hole beach is now taking pride of place on the mantelpiece! Would recommend without hesitation. Bridge Cottage now sets the standard for future UK breaks!
