The town of Porthleven is brimming with Cornish charm and is a lovely place to bring your four-legged friend for a break in a dog-friendly cottage. Whether you want to frolic on the beach during the summer or enjoy a bracing winter walk in the winter, this is a relaxing a peaceful place to stay.

Porthleven is not only the most southerly harbour in Britain but also, it has been argued, the impressive. Take in the stunning bay, watch the fishing boats to and fro or watch the world go by from one of the many delicious cafes on offer. Your pup will love the fresh sea air and there are numerous walks to explore together including the much-loved South West Coast Path. Although some beaches here are only dog-friendly in outside of peak season, others will welcome you and your dog all year round.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Miss Jo Eaton - Verified booking

Location was amazing and on the face of it the property is lovely. My main issue was the travel cot. If you are going to give the option, please provide a decent travel cot. We had an awful first night because the travel cot was awful, I wouldn't have put the dogs in it. We ended up having to go to Truro the next day to buy one, for only £35 more than the retail price of the one provided. Had the travel cot not been an option I wouldn't have relied on it for our baby. We had a birds nest in the attic above our room, understand not your fault but needs looking into. Our shower also leaked into the hall. The shower downstairs doesn't have a screen so can't be used. The speakers in the living room had wires hanging out. Some of the lamps didn't have bulbs. The door to the garden didn't seem to actually lock, just bolts. On the face of it a lovely place to stay but lots of details missed and that's why we won't stay again or recommend.

Fantastic place to stay, the house itself was clean and warm and had everything you’d expect. The kitchen was small but wasn’t a problem. Towels and bedding were very good quality. Water was constantly hot which is a bonus and the views from the house and patio were exceptional. Patio furniture and seat pads provided too which was good. There were 4 adults in our party and was very comfortable, the area has great walks to loe bar, across the beach, around the harbour and there’s always something going on from boats sailing out to locals {and tourists) braving the waters in the outer harbour (we went in March) and there’s always surfers enjoying the waves. All in all a great holiday

This is our 4th stay (I think!) in this property and we love it. Warm, cosy and homely. Excellent location and we are very grateful they take our dogs. Porthleven is our go to place for UK holidays now and we very much hope to come back next year . We recommend it to everyone! Porthleven has become our favourite UK holiday destination. With the dogs it can be hard to find suitable holidays, but Porthleven has it all, dog friendly beaches, pubs, restaurants and fantastic walking . No need to get in your car again all week! Above Beach Cottages have always been extremely helpful when we have tried to find accommodation and we cannot fault them . Just saving up to book next year now!

We had such a happy time here with all our family members to celebrate New Year. We all loved the house and it was so special to come all together to Porthleven. We used to bring our children here and now they still come back with our grandchildren. This was the second time we have stayed at Tripolitania, which we find very welcoming and comfortable. I love the homely touches and all the information in the house about its history and local places to visit. Had some gorgeous walks along the coastal path to The Halzephron and Penrose Estate. The dogs are exhausted and will miss the exercise. Thank you.

Apart from the noise from the building site on the land which was part of the property, which made it annoying when sitting in the garden. I phoned the office and complained that all downstairs blinds just fitted before our arrival all the cords were hanging down in a dangerous position for the 2 year old child in our party. The gentleman I spoke to said he would email the local manager to contact me, this did not happen. Also to get people to rebook a holiday more details at this property more details need to improved to make it worthwhile.
