My family had the most amazing experience at sandbanks I cannot recommend this place enough.

Both the owner and housekeeper were in touch throughout my stay. Claire the owner has been so thoughtful and thorough in ensuring that families have a 5* experience. Everything from the time we entered to the day we left exceeded our expectations. The big and little kids were catered for with a huge selection of games, dvds, PlayStation to keep them busy when we were not out exploring the beautiful cornish landscapes. The welcome pack with Cornish delights was a great added touch and again so thoughtful of Claire, as we don't drink alcohol we left this for the cleaning team but thoroughly enjoyed the fudge and teas and other treats. Sandbanks was full of high end decor, there was art, contemporary and traditional furniture, the walls were clean, white, airy and the blinds, and balconies made the whole house feel luxurious and sophisticated. The highlight of the trip was having the beach on our doorstep and the hot tub. Having a side entrance to the property and taps etc meant we were able to hose off any sand before entering the property. I felt super lucky and privileged with the honour of knowing I was the first hire and made the best attempt to leave everything as immaculate as I found it. On that note there walls were freshly painted, everything looked like new including the carpets/rug and we respected the place by removing our shoes in the hallway and wearing sliders/slippers downstairs. It's hard not too fall in love with sandbanks as a family we laughed, ate, & prayed together in this unique space we called home for a week. The utility room made with the washing machine and dryer made the stay ever so comfortable. I must say everything from the cutlery, crockery, serving dishes, bbq, bedding, etc was all brand new and unused, this was an added bonus to say the least. I need to ask Claire for the brand of frying pans which were excellent for the pancakes I made and the cute pan stands. There was an abundance of serving dishes so each meal we prepared looked awesome served up. Claire had left an array of other kitchenware like kitchen scales and an orange juicer so pancakes and fresh orange juice were on the menu on one of our stays. There were even baking trays if you fancied making cake but we didn't have time for this. The microwave and oven were great as well as a standard size fridge freezer. Claire left some washing liquid, clothes tabs, sponges and other cleaning products especially suitable for her worktop which worked wonders. We really did feel at home at sandbanks and the dining room area was the main hub where we could all spread out and enjoy playing games into the night while snacking, we even got to watch England play the final in the Euros that was a tense evening!!! My other highlight was the crystal clear skies we got night after night in the back garden, we could literally see the milky way across the sky, it was spectacular and magical. The master bedroom had a beautifully crafted baby cot and a walk in wardrobe! There were 5 bathrooms and this was more than enough for all, The towels provided were beautifully clean and fresh scented. Spare bedding and pillows were available in the store cupboard. An iron, ironing board, mop, hoover brush etc were all in the boiler cupboard. Every tiny detail including a manual and guide for those staying at sandbanks to explore the area were provided. A company at the Praa beach does surfing and coasteering which we didn't get a chance to do this, we were there everyday almost and did not get bored of the beach at all, on the far right there are coves and rocks to explore too! We did however use jolly Rogers taxi company as per the book and they were really friendly and reasonably priced. In terms of visiting tourist places Sandbanks was ideally located, was 25 minutes to Kynance Cove, 35 minutes to Porthcurno Beach/lands End an additional 10 minutes while your there might aswel! We also did a coastal walk from Praa Sands to Prussia Cove which was amazing. Porthleven is not far and the boys did a fishing trip. St Micheals Mount was 15 minutes away and st ives app 30 minutes. All In all a great stay, great housekeepers, great host and a beautiful home in an idyllic location.

Lovely house in a great area, it’s a beautiful part of the world!

Lovely beach nearby. Beds and pillows were comfy, sofa was comfortable but small for 6 people, although with the pool table you couldn’t really get a bigger sofa in. There is a hairdryer, iron, ironing board and clothes airer which weren’t listed. We really enjoyed using the hot tub and pool table. As a previous reviewer said, the hot tub is emptied and cleaned at the end of your stay so it’s clean for the next guests. They also came out one lunchtime during the week for maintenance. Although we weren’t aware they were coming so had only just got out of it but it’s good to know it’s maintained well. We realised the microwave was in the top oven thanks to previous reviews, but with no instructions we had to figure it out. I can see why others haven’t realised it’s there. The TV doesn’t have any terrestrial TV and only has access to streaming services so you need to have your own accounts to use it. (Martin you left your YouTube logged in, we signed you out!) Cleanliness was mostly ok, although when we arrived we found there was sticky drink that had been spilt on the sofa arm and floor which we cleaned up. The toothbrush pots in the bathrooms were used and still dirty. The BBQ still hasn’t been cleaned (as per previous review) we didn’t use it. Some cutlery and utensils had dried food stuck to them. The bathroom locks are very stiff, which has been mentioned in previous reviews but clearly nothing has been done yet to fix this. When we first arrived the house was really hot (the thermostats showed it was 26 - 28° in most of the rooms). We opened all the windows but couldn’t find a key for the patio door at the front of the house. We also had an issue with the door to the utility room, it actually fell off the hinges when we opened it, fortunately not onto one of the kids. We later found out it was newly replaced, but obviously not installed properly. There was no contact number in the information folder so we tried to contact the number in the booking email, but there was no answer. We did leave an answerphone message but didn’t hear anything. We tried periodically over the weekend and finally got hold of someone on Tuesday (we arrived on Saturday). Apparently the office is shut at weekends and bank holidays but they didn’t actually bother to contact us in response to the answerphone message when they were there. According to them, the key to the patio door has been lost and the management company made no offer to replace it for the owner, and the only thing they said about the utility room door was ‘it was ok when we left it’. Not helpful at all. No offer to come and fix it. Later during our stay we realised there is a leak from the ensuite shower which is above the front door and dripping through the ceiling. However, again we were unable to contact anyone to report it. I dread to think what would happen if there was an emergency because the management company are useless. Sykes Cottages and the house owners really need to address this. There is no recycling bin at the property so all rubbish has to go in the main bin, although we chatted to a neighbour who said there should be a recycling bin and we did see a recycling truck drive passed so no idea why this is not available.

The house is lovely and we had a great week at Sandbanks.

We really appreciated the welcome basket with lots of local high quality treats. The house was spacious and plenty of room for our group of 11 (4 children). The location close to the beach was also a real positive. Despite all my best efforts and research, I wasn't made aware we were right across from the main car park which was noisy some of the evenings and a bit of an eye sore. There were some issues we had with the home that overall we felt did not elevate our stay to the level we expected given the cost of staying at the property. The issues were as follows: 1. Each en suite had a fault with the shower/bath/toilet. In the primary bedroom it was very difficult to manage the water temperature and my husband and I scalded ourselves on occasion trying to use it. We gave up in the end and had to use one of the other showers. 2. In the bathroom on the mid level the bath tap handles are missing. Again, because the water was scalding hot when trying to operate the hot tap, one of our guests (78 years old) burnt her fingers. If this tap is to be used, you cannt touch it with your bare hands and this again is dangerous for people. 3. In the bathrooms on the lower floor - the one on the RHS when standing at the kitchen door entrance - the shower dripped constantly which was really intrusive for the guests staying in this room trying to get a good night's sleep. 4. In the other down stairs bathroom in the 2nd lower bedroom there was also an issue with the toilet. The valve in the cistern was broken, the cistern never filled up because of the broken valve and so it filled all day and night which made a constant noise. 5. In relation to the beds and comfort- the only bed that was comfortable was in the primary room. We had to swap mattresses around on the mid level and give the children the worst mattresses because the adult guests were so uncomfortable - the mattresses clearly had there day and were very stained as was uncovered when we had to swap them out. 6. The tumble dryer doesn't work properly and didn't dry our clothes fully on any occasion. There were some very wet days when we really needed to use the dryer because we had 11 guests and there was no linen or towel change throughout the week. Given that we paid almost £7,000 for the week, it was disappointing that the above issues were encountered throughout our stay. We really enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, bbq and games provided in the home. Overall it's a great property and if the above issues are addressed it will be a wonderful stay for any future guests.

Harvey’s House was the perfect place to retreat to.

We received a very warm and friendly welcome from Jenna and Nigel, with a delicious cream tea and a hot hot tub ready. Perfect! Harvey’s house is a very comfortable and cosy place to stay. Its new decor and furnishings have been thoughtfully and joyfully created for this new venture with everything you could possibly need from air fryer, dog paw cleaning cups, to sheep design toilet roll holder!! The Christmas decorations were a beautiful touch too. There are three spacious bedrooms each with its own decor theme. The open plan living space works well with a beautiful outlook on to the garden. The hot tub is AMAZING, strong jets, pretty coloured LED lights. It was so relaxing and special to be outside in all weathers with the moon and stars above, in between the wind and rain. The weather didn’t matter! It was quite easy to get the tub back to temperature each day. Jenna and Nigel were very responsive to our questions and any issues were sorted promptly. Harveys House is quiet and private, located in its own woodland garden bordered by a river. Woodland walks from the house made it a perfect place for us and our two four-leggeds. All in all this has been a perfect place for our short winter break. Thank you Jenna and Nigel for all the work you have put into making this such a lovely homely place. We wish you well on this new venture. We definitely want to return again soon and will highly recommend Harvey’s House to friends and family. N.B Please read the directions carefully and don’t follow the SAT NAV and end up having to turn round in a neighbour’s garden!!

We had an amazing break at Sea Sands in March 2022.

The property is amazing and the photos don’t quite do it justice. The view from the living room and master bedroom is breathtaking and the careful details in the design of the building and layout truly make this special. We had no problems with our stay at all, however the owner Gina was very friendly providing all of the relevant information needed for our stay prior to visiting. The accommodation itself was modern and sleek but still kept its homely and comfortable feel. The property is airy and bright and the furnishings are high quality. Peaceful and natural surroundings brought a feeling of calm throughout the entire week, especially looking out to such a wonderful view of the sea. The hot tub was brilliant, including the outside hot shower which is a blessing in winter months. High quality towels and bedding provided, along side toiletries and a lovely welcome pack which is a really nice touch. There is everything you can think of regarding cooking equipment and this was the highest standard of any property we have stayed in. I can’t speak highly enough of this property and would highly recommend to anyone looking to explore the Cornish coast.
