What our customers say about their holidays

    • Thomas - Verified booking

I can hands down say without argument this is the best cottage/holiday let/holiday home we have ever come across.

It is clear both the owner and those in charge of running it have put a great amount of thought, love and care into making this a truly perfect home from home. The cottage itself is light and airy and coastal whilst managing to be equally warm and inviting. The interior is of an excellent standard and feels like a real show of luxury and style. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you could need to make a self catering holiday as easy as it can be. Dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, coffee machine etc. We received the most beautiful welcome hamper filled with essentials and delicious farm shop bacon and sausages and scones and clotted cream! The beds are incredibly comfortable and we have both slept like a dream for the past two weeks. The cinema room and entertainment selections are brilliant. Sky cinema, Netflix, PS4 and Xbox. There was also a lovely bottle of gin and tonic as a special treat waiting for us in here! The beach is a five minute walk from the cottage (there is a hill!), and only 5 mins walk from the village pub and a couple of small and sweet cafes. We have found the locals to be lovely and friendly and the beach both serene and beautiful, although we were here out of season and I’m told by the locals that it is bustling village in the summer. We booked here as a delayed honeymoon after discovering we were pregnant and not wanting to fly abroad but I am now so glad we did. I can’t imagine anywhere we could have made more perfect memories. Claire who looks after the property could not have been more welcoming and helpful on hand for anything we needed. She had left a bottle of champagne as a congratulatory treat for us and made sure the heating was on before we arrived. The team came in after our first week to clean, bring fresh bedding and towels. I couldn’t rave about Sea Cliff Cottage enough and we only wish we didn’t have to leave! Thank you so much Claire. We can’t wait to come back again. Tom & Karen

      This cottage is adorable.

Ideally located on a such a quite road above the village with ample parking. Roomy cottage with lovely views. Very well equipped, they have though of nearly everything you should need on your holiday home from home. We didn't use the hot tub or the top gardens as we were happy with being out the hot sun. But it is just as the pictures, you just need to be careful getting up and down as it is steep. The main fridge being under the stairs is not ideal, kept banging our heads. Maybe a big one in the dinning room would be worth a thought. Movie room is a great idea and the bottle of gin well received, yummy thank you. The bedding and towels were superb. Main bedroom bed is so comfy. Bathrooms are fab! The hamper was divine, being fish eaters the smoked salmon was delightful. So much to do, the river is 5 mins walk down the hill, the beach is the same. We walked the dog down the river most days as the beach is 'no dogs' for all the summer months which is a shame. But there are so many dog beaches a short drive away which makes you go and explore. Two great pubs and one very nice cafe who do great lattes. Even with the beach and campsite in the village being full the cottage is so quite and relaxing. You can walk to Mevagissey if you are able ( its challenging) on the coastal path within an hour. Claire and her team are amazing. So good we've booked again for next year!

The hot tub needs attention as it is completely unusable.

The water level was very low, it's dirty, full of bits, smells musty and looks like someone dropped bread in it many moons ago which suggests it hasn't been cleaned for a while so we decided not to risk our health. Disappointing because that was the final decider when I was researching for a suitable property. On departure the man who disposes of rubbish and cleans the hot tub appeared. He said he had cleaned it a week ago. If he did then somehow, between him cleaning and us arriving, it miraculously got in this disgusting state! Interestingly he told us that it had a serious leak and he has already told the owner that she needs to get it fixed or replaced. The dining and living room furniture are very uncomfortable if sat on/at for any length of time, the king-sized bed feels like it's on a slope, upon investigation the mattress doesn't fit in the recess at the end and therefore slopes at head level. The smaller bathroom window needs cleaning where it opens at the top where it is filthy and full of spiderwebs and dirt etc and a replacement blind is also needed. The photos are not of the property as it is today and either they need updating or the property contents needs a makeover. We did enjoy our time and had the best fish and chips ever which can be purchased as a take away from The Ship Inn, sadly we would not return because we felt miss sold by the pictures and the reality.

All in all 4 of us enjoyed our stay.

Beds very comfy but shower room needs more thought. No where to hang bath towels, no heated towel rail and no radiator therefore quite cold in Winter. Wash basin unusable due to being very high on shelf. Only one toilet roll per bathroom. In the kitchen some cupboard and drawer knobs were loose and can't be tightened. There was no washing up liquid, and very few dishwasher tablets. Out of 15 remotes in property 3 were needing repairing, this was found out when engineer came out to check tvs and remotes. If you don't have sky etc no instruction on which remote is needed. Our friends do have sky but they were confused. After contacting the caretaker Claire, she was very helpful in organising TV man and in posting new remotes the following day. The snib on front door locked us out one day, but luckily my arm was long enough and slim enough to go through letter box and push it back up. As it was Winter we didn't use outdoor facilities, but the steps are very steep and slippy with wet leaves, I would think most over 50s would think twice about going up. The hamper was much appreciated. Beach very nice and village pub The Ship was very friendly with good food and atmosphere.

The holiday started by talking to Claire (the housekeeper) 3 days before the holiday start date, she was lovely, really helpful with suggestions of places to visit.

The cottage was fabulous, comfortable, homely, well equipped. Spending each days on the different levels of garden makes it feel as though you have visited different places (steep steps but the up and down is the same as the Cornish coastline), the verandah gives another area and allows you to meet walkers on the coastal path and the friendly neighbours. The cinema room was just the icing on the cake and we had date night as even popcorn was supplied. Claire supplied a yummy hamper all supplied by a local farm shop and was always at the end of the phone for any queries (fabulously helpful). Coastal walks from the door, but we aware that dogs are not allowed on the beach in Pentewen between March and November. Coastal walk to Mevigessey 2 miles and catch the bus back is really easy, bus from the village to Heligan Gardens or hire a bike from the village - and finally The Ship pub in the village was really friendly, good food and served Proper Job ale so hubby Really good holiday, memories made - fabulous cottage, but special thanks to Claire, having a house keeper who knows the area, is helpful and willing to share knowledge adds the sparkle.
