What our customers say about their holidays

    • Natasha - Verified booking

We had the most wonderful stay at Buster Barn.

It was just what we needed, time to relax, sit back and hit the STOP button on our busy lives. We absolutely enjoyed our break at Buster barn, its own surrounding were stunning set in beautiful Dartmoor. Just sitting on the sofa looking out the door onto the moor was mesmerising and the little seat in the garden was so peaceful. Opening the patio door for our collie to go out and lie on the little bridge watching the birds, the pond and the water in it !! Monty and Sally were perfect hosts, on hand with advice and guidance but you also wouldnt actually know they were there either, on hand but not intrusive. Buster barn had everything you could think of, wish for or not need! but we are in no doubt that every wish, whim and request was and would have been catered for - if you had forgotten to pack it I am in no doubt it would have been there somewhere!! The property was clean, well decorated and with mod. cons. I loved that there was no mobile signal at the property. Wifi was available if you needed it for emergency contact. At night it got so dark - stunning skies when you got to see the moon and stars (well it was January!) If you could visit heaven on earth, I think Buster Barn would be that place!!

      Absolutely beautiful.

We had such a fabulous week. The cottage (barn conversion) had everything we needed. It is very comfortable and clean and has a lovely private garden. The owners, Sally and Monty, are lovely and kind and even posted my coat back to me that I left behind. Although they live in the farmhouse next door, we felt our stay was secluded and private. We can highly recommend it. I was worried my husband (a city boy at heart) would find being so isolated difficult, but he loved it too. And there are plenty of lovely pubs and small villages within a few miles to explore (a short journey by car). We can highly recommend the Royal Oak pub at Meavy for great food. For a pint, the nearest pub at Walkhampton has a lovely friendly vibe ( we didn't try the food, but apparently, Steak and Ale Pies there are a favourite with the locals). Don't hesitate to book this fabulous find if you are looking for peace and quiet and great walks on Dartmoor.

We spent 2 weeks at buster barn.

Enjoyed every minute of it. Lots of walks nearby for our dogs. The furnishings were top quality. On days we did not go out there was a big garden for the dogs to roam without fear of getting out. Believe me our little poppy would have found a way out if she could. Plenty of dvd’s to watch. Some films and box sets we hadn’t watched for years and some we wouldn’t normally watch. The barn was warm throughout and all towels and bed linen were top quality too. The owners were very helpful. The kettle stopped working mid week and they provided another straight away. They helped us unpack the car on arrival and milk tea coffee sugar all there when we entered and a box of lovely cream cakes. Also no need to take bubble Bath shower gel hand soap fairy liquid and washing machine liquid and conditioner all there to use. We will definitely be rebooking for 2024.

Our holiday was better then we expected.

It was mine and my partners first UK break and Buster Barn was the peaceful get away we needed. Sally greeted us when we arrived and made us feel so welcome, her cakes were also incredible and such a lovely touch. The property has everything you could need for a break and the garden has incredible views over the surrounding countrysides. The garden is completely enclosed so it was amazing for our border collie who came along with us, and as well as this Sally allowed for us to have access to the field behind the property which meant on the raining days we could still exercise the dog. The property was so quiet all of the time and our break could not have been more relaxing. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to get away for a break in a beautiful area, there are amazing views and walks to enjoy without having to stray far.

Buster Barn is an idyllic holiday retreat, set in a wonderfully beautiful and peaceful valley.

The barn is very comfortable and well equipped with extensive gardens to relax in, as well as a nice barbeque area. All the outdoor areas are securely enclosed which is perfect for the dogs! We were definitely lucky with the weather during our stay and in fact it was far too hot to go out walking during the day, but this was not a problem as there are so many walks that can be done from the 'front door' that we easily managed some long walks across the moors in the evenings. There are also some very pretty paths and quiet lanes through the wooded valleys which were cooler! We did not have to drive anywhere at all during our stay such is the range of routes available, which was a huge plus point for us. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming but unobtrusive and we look forward to returning in future years.
