What our customers say about their holidays

    • Katie - Verified booking

The initial property we booked was cancelled with just a few weeks notice, and there was little left within our price range for the area we had booked to stay which left us with limited options.

This property is a nice location, only a ten minute walk from St Ives town centre and a five minute walk to a local Co-Op store. The house is well equipped in some areas. The kitchen has good appliances and plenty of cutlery and crockery, as well as a Nespresso coffee machine with some pods. There is also a washing machine and dishwasher. There are some towels for use, though I recommend taking your own as they are only smaller hand towels and wash cloths. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of storage space. There is a small outdoor area which is useful for pets, and would be nice in the summer months. The furniture is comfortable, and the property is well decorated throughout. There are some areas of the property which I feel should be better advertised or require improvement. Though parking is advertised, it is a very narrow side street and parking as close as possible to the property on the pavement. We had a larger car and had a ticket left on it by the refuse men that despite our best efforts, they couldn't get past. Other cars also use this road and it is very tight so a high risk of damage to your car. There is a car park a few minutes walk away but costs £16 for 24 hours. Despite the cost we opted to park here rather than outside the property. There is a television in the living room but has no aerial signal, and limited online apps available via a Now box which all require extra cost and are seemingly logged into the owners accounts which feels invasive when trying to use online apps. Some areas of the property have lovely touches, such as the pictures and prints around the house. But there are some areas which are clearly not well looked after. The tap on the kitchen falls off, the dishwasher rocks around as it is too small for the space it is plumbed in, and there are drafts from the windows which are older designs. The bin outside is also screwed shut so you cannot throw rubbish away properly, and due to the wind we didn't want to just leave it there incase of it blowing away, which meant we had to store bags of rubbish in the kitchen until we checked out. There is an upstairs bathroom with a very small shower cubicle, but there is a downstairs bathroom with a bath and larger shower area. Also quite bizarrely on the morning of our checkout as we were cleaning the property, we heard drilling sounds from the side of the house. Someone had appeared and then disappeared without calling in. It was only evident as we were about to check out that they had removed the lock box on where to place the keys without telling us, so without any information, we locked up and posted the keys back through the letterbox. Overall the property is a lovely location, and has some nice personal touches, and is well equipped. But there are some areas which require improvement, and the ability to park should be clearly marked that larger cars would not be able to safely use this facility.

We had a wonderful stay at Seascape.

The apartment was absolutely spotlessly clean, everything was exactly as it was in the pictures. It had everything you could possibly need ,including some welcome goodies, such as milk and biscuits to cling film and tupperware storage boxes. It was lovely and quiet, the view is amazing and it is situated in a perfect spot for visiting lots of different places around the area. It is in quite a hilly area so walking is not for the faint hearted and the most direct walk from to and from the beach is more than a steep climb ,so probably not doable carrying beach chairs etc ( of which there are 2 provided at the apartment ,and a windbreak,no umbrella ) it was a scramble over rocks as many Cornwall beaches are, there is a longer walk but again very steep. It is a lovely small beach but the only direct access is from Carbis Beach hotel , there is some parking ,but it was £15 a day (2023) Very easy access to St Ives via the train which is literally a stones throw away and cost £1,you could hear the train from the apartment with the windows/doors open but it never bothered us.You can get the train to Penzance too,we ran out of time so didn't get that far. The whole process from booking to handing back the keys was very smooth We genuinely can't find any fault with the apartment itself , would highly recommend it.

This is a fantastic property, which is really well equipped and is so spacious.

The view of St Ives from the living room is incredible and well worth the cost in itself. The Sky TV and PS4 (not things we have at home) were very welcome for entertaining the kids when we were packing up for the day. Our only real gripe was with the en-suite shower, which was boiling hot most of the time, even when set to the coldest temperature, so showers were brief! Only a minor issue really and it wouldn’t put us off staying again. The location is ideal. It’s a 2-3 minute walk to the station and then a 3 minute train journey to St Ives, so no need to go through the stress of driving in St Ives. You can also be on Carbis Bay beach in about 5 minutes, but just watch out for steep climb down and then back up. Well worth the effort though! Carbis Bay is well situated generally. We got to Marzion (St Michael’s mount) is about 15 mins, and then Lands End in about half an hour. This is during the August school holidays as well. We’d definitely return and stay in this property again.

Brinyloft is a lovely, comfortable little place to stay with lots of local walks, a train station and beach in very close proximity.

A certain amount of attention is required to some aspects of the property. The oven temperature knob is not operational and fell off at first touch and all the symbols on the appliance have been worn away, which left us searching for the manual online in order to use it correctly when cooking. There was a dirty frying pan in the cupboard, which we had to wash just so it was clean for future guests. On the whole, the kitchen would benefit from an upgrade as the lamination is separating on the cupboard doors. We needed to prop the shower head up with a sponge to prevent it from continuously drooping downwards. We also noticed it was mentioned in the Welcome Booklet that a mat is provided to place on the rug in the dining area for children’s mealtimes, however this was not found so we used a bin bag instead. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend this accommodation to others. The complimentary milk, chocolate buttons and tote bag were very most appreciated, thank you.

"Seascape was reflection of the high standard that we have some to expect of Carbis Bay Holidays properties.

Modern, light and airy with first class fixtures, fitting and linens, it is well thought out and a beautifully presented property. Our favourite things to do are: seal hunting at Godrevy Head:. Beach combing on porth kidney beach (please note that the footpath from the end of Headland Rd is closed): Costal walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives for lunch. Ride along the coast to Sennen cove to enjoy both the beach and the walk and views to Lands End without the crowds. Sundowners on the patio or conservatory of Carbis Bay Hotel. Our favourite places to eat this year: The new Italian on the main road (St Ives Rd?) walking distance from the apartment and excellent pasta pizza and everything else in-between! The Porthmeor Cafe just in front of the Tate. Inventive menu with the tapas a real treat. Porthwidden Beach Cafe – we had a great paella here overlooking the beach, also called for morning coffee and cakes." K. & S. Rothwell
